I understand what you wrote in your last paragraph, but it always irks me when people talk about "the oppression of Muslim women" if they wear a hijab and dress modestly, without ever taking into account the hypocrisy of saying they advocate for female empowerment but refusing to allow modesty as one of the possible choices of an empowered woman.
