Have you ever heard the serenity prayer? God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. You cannot change him. The only thing you can change is how you react to him being a part of this community or you can change your relationship go him. In my opinion the women who stay in situations that they try to control are addicted to the drama. It's jist a dysfunctional choice.

No. It was the wrong timing. And yeah you are right it doesn't necessarily lead to healthy relationships or even marriage. It's just difficult for me to settle for someone I am not enthusiastic about.

It's correct for me. I suspect it's true for many people. I definitely think it's true for OP

I am a woman who has been shy and awkward but I have been becoming more confident. Shyness isn't unattractive but it's often a blocker. I started to realize a lot of people are intimidated by me and feel uncomfortable around me. I have resting bitch face (meaning I don't smile a lot) and I struggle to make eye contact. This is closed off body language. Many people incorrectly assume you are not interested in them if you have this body language. They can assume you are cold or mean. I noticed peo…

I don't see 10 non negotiables as necessarily unrealistic but it depends on what they are. Mine are: Emotional safety. I want someone who is emotionally intelligent, has empathy and can calmly talk through problems together. Mutual attraction, desire, effort. Stable in general. Emotionally/mentally stable, financially stable, knows what they want and who they are, etc. But I guess this also ties into emotional safety.

For me looks are as important as his personality. I could never be with someone who is unattractive to me. If you ever experienced lightning bolt attraction to someone, which I have, it's difficult to settle for less than that. But it is very rare. I am convinced the women who don't enjoy sex with their partners is because they settle for visually unappealing men.

There are plenty of women in relationships who cannot retire gracefully. Go to any finance sub and you will see plenty of couples who have financial problems because they chose to have kids and a stay at home mom when they can't afford it on one salary. My parents remained married to the end and both died penniless. The truth is nuanced. Yes sharing your life with a person can make it a lot easier. That's provided you find the right person. There are women in relationships with men who drain the…

She meant if you get pregnant he will make you a single mom, too. A woman who doesn't want to raise a baby alone wouldn't get involved with him.

Absolutely yes it is a dealbreaker. I don't want to deal with someone's active baggage. He hasn't even had time to emotionally move on and she's pregnant? Too risky he gets involved with her again or she ends up making your life a nightmare. I also don't want to be a stepmother. I also wouldn't automatically trust his word that she trapped him. Nothing about this is appealing. You don't need to volunteer to be his rebound relationship.

He is attracted enough to you to marry you so the financial safety net would easily be top priority right now. You looks won't cause him stress for the wedding but the finances will. If your money isn't needed in the end for the wedding then spend on those treatments.

The problem is research shows cohabitation leads to more divorce. The idea of seeing if you are compatible when living together makes sense, but in reality people become more reluctant to breakup once they live together. So cohabitation ends up doing the opposite of its intent - it keeps incompatible people together. Or at least together too long.

Yeah this is true. I read the waiting to wed sub - the stories of men who string along girlfriends they don't want to marry. Yet the men never want to break up either. Some even have healthy reasons for not wanting to marry - they fight too much, girlfriend is too cruel. But the men never leave. When you come across men on Reddit in these situations it's always the same thing - they don't leave because they don't want to risk having no one.

Men stay because they don't like being single at all. They are often unhappy because many don't choose their lives. They are either socially conditioned into wanting a wife and kids or some knock a woman up and end up in a life they never thought about or planned. They just let it happen.

Anger issues and alcohol issues are a huge red flag combination. That can easily become a physically abusive situation. Some abusers let that side out after marriage or kids. That's 100% a no go from me. You are deeply naive for blaming her values on his anger issues. That's victim blaming.

You literally just had someone reveal to you that they are selfish and want a one sided relationship and you were conned into seeing this as refreshing since most selfish people pretend to be decent. This just means he is a overt narcissist rather than a covert narcissist. The moment you agree to this is the moment you tell him you are a desperate weak willed woman who would go along with anything to have a man. Think about the kind of relationship that will lead to when you send this message.

I had a male coworker who did this. I work in software. He supposedly had 1 year of professional experience before we hired him, but he could barely do things a year 1 programming student could do. He listed his accomplishments at that one job and had someone leave him feedback on LinkedIn. The accomplishments and feedback were clearly bogus. He did not have those skills. The weird thing I noticed is he had no relevant education listed on his resume. Not even a coding boot camp. So I assume he w…

I am a woman who has childhood trauma/cptsd. I have suffered for decades as a result of trauma. I have done 10 years of therapy and still suffer consequences. I am considering the effects on the actual human being you want to raise. Which plenty of parents (like you) never considered. What i am going to say is blunt but this is what I see - I see a woman who cannot responsibly bring a child into this world. You are already raising one as a single mom. You had 2 pregnancies in an unstable relatio…

Sorry but if you were a druggie you weren't fit to raise that child.

I personally don't believe it is the ethical choice to go through with a pregnancy when one party doesn't consent. I also don't believe it is being a responsible parent to make this choice. Your decision is all about you and your feelings and not what is best for a human being you want to raise. You already have a child so PCOS is irrelevant. Nothing about this decision is responsible.

With all due respect what deep connection do you have that is hard to replace? You sound like a dysfunctional toxic relationship. The only thing that will be difficult to replace is finding another man who will allow you to mistreat him for 7 years.

I was someone who was raised by 2 uneducated parents who emotionally neglected me, emotionally abused me, raised me in a volatile household without love or support. I was an inconvenience most of the time. I suffered from depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation for decades. I was in therapy for a decade. Why are you indifferent to the suffering caused by bad parents? If a person knows they would be a bad parent why do you think they should be forced to be a bad parent and cause endless suffer…

This was my experience: One guy immediately ended the friendship. Another guy ended the friendship around 4 months later when he started a relationship with another female friend. One guy I remained friends with but I don't think he ever moved on. So I regret remaining friends.

I did not have a hoe phase and do not feel like I missed out. But I would say people (both men and women) in their 20s are better off dating around a bit than committing to the first person who is interested in them. That doesn't necessarily involve casual sex or risky decisions.

Not every couple who create a baby have the capacity to financially and emotionally support a baby. Should addicts be forced to have a baby? Alcoholics? Abusers? Pedophiles? Is it moral and ethical to force these people to be parents if they don't want it? What about people in poverty? Should they be forced? If who pays for their children? Also why does a fetus take priority over the life of the mother? Do you not find the life living here on earth to be sacred? Or do you only care about potenti…

The problem isn't the attraction itself. It's how it is expressed. Women notice how some men treat women differently based on their attractiveness levels. You also don't have to announce you need someone with a "nice butt." You can just quietly find someone with a nice butt like a confident, emotionally mature man would do.

The question is why should a woman be responsible for a life she doesn't want because she accidentally got pregnant? Do you think it's moral and ethical to force a woman to raise a child she doesn't want? Do you think a child will be harmed by being raised by a mother who doesn't want it? If the answer is yes - is it moral and ethical to force the mother to have the child and harm it? Hypothetically if we are able to develop a fetus outside of the woman's body who will lovingly raise the child s…
