I will definitely be reading this essay. My point was that feminist issues should address inequalities, and given that men and women are equally capable of catcalling and both sexes have the same legal remedies to that harassment, there is no inequality in the case of catcalling.

These are certainly statistics I would have liked to mention, but there is certainly a difference between banter at work and strangers on the street that are overtly sexual - and I'm sure that would have been brought up too. That said, I agree. This is a men's and women's issue. But my point was that a few assholes catcalling doesn't mean that there's some sort of civil rights violation occurring.

I'm not going to have a discussion of motivation for catcalling, though. I find the practice, whether done to men or women, disgusting. My entire point was that because women and men are both capable of catcalling, and have the same course of action if they don't like being catcalled there is no inequality, and therefore it's not a feminist issue.
