Have you considered the population that is interested in STEM but lacks the role models or mentors to lead them that way? If we look at child development and attitudes toward education at large, even in the context of race or nationality, role models are *ridiculously * important for children saying they're "interested" in something past a certain age, and then moresore when it comes to pursing higher education. This isn't making fun of soldiers. It's making fun of socalled mansplaining. Men WERE gone from many of the roles they usually filled during this time, and women were tasked with filling them. That's a fact. So they're stretching that as one of the roles of the time. Nowhere in this post does it indicate anything about dead soldiers. I've never argued that men have fewer options or "rights" or against the claim that it is harder for them to make the call. If you don't "register" yourself and a woman doesn't identify you as the father, you also don't have to pay CS. I didn't see anyone mention that side, either. Just troubled by the absolutes in this thread.

Then maybe stop insisting things are fact when they're actually random ideas you think are probably true enough to form an argument with. That's all I'm saying. You may have heard about how that happens some times, but you're missing the parts about being in contempt of court, not reporting employment and other issues. Unless you're suggesting that they can't retire when they want to, my suspicion is that it's still not enough to warrant big changes to whether we hold non custodial parents responsible for some of the cost of raising a child. Your first points are not true. States do not force fathers to pay beyond their means unless he is completely lazy and doesn't advocate for himself. (Outliers aside, as I'm sure there are horror stories). Even court ordered support and divorce decrees can be amended. I'm surprised so few people know this.

Not sure if you're from the US, but no one would be paying alimony. Father's CAN petition for custody if the mother wishes to relinquish her rights. The likelihood that he would receive child support depends on a lot of factors, especially state law. Source: mostly anecdotal, as an adoptee and parent with a custody agreement
