I'm talking from my experience in North America. And the reason I gave is true here. You can be as angry as you want. I gave a different side of the discussion. I'm also going to guess, since most people agreed with my reason, that I'm not the only one discussing personal experience vs. this story particularly. I also said I see no issue with a make only barbershop. But laws HERE would mean it would have to be a private club.

There are not separate laws for public businesses though. Every public business has to follow the same laws. Private clubs do not.

Then the should charge a membership fee and can turn away anyone they want. Public business are held to discrimination laws. If they say they won't serve someone because they are black or gay there will be consequences.

The laws were put in place to protect people against discrimination. That's a good thing. And yes, women were one of the groups that were discriminated against. The barber could very easily add $1 "membership fee" and be completely clear of any liability or risk. I don't see this as a cesspool. I see a lot of anger. Similar to that I see in many extreme feminist reddits. It gets us nowhere.

Gyms run under the category of social clubs. They have paid memberships, meaning the management can select whatever members and criteria they want. The same is not true for public service companies.

Not to me. Understand...these women don't represent the majority. They are just the loudest. It's funny because I belong to GoodLife and normally go to the coed one close by, but wanted to try a class at another location which was women's only. I couldn't figure out how they could do that. I just learned about the social club designation on Friday.

Female here. The reason there can be women's only gyms is they are considered social clubs and you have to pay for a membership. Under law, a social club can set any rules for their members they choose, even discriminatory ones. A public business isn't a fair comparison to that. I, personally, see zero issue with a men's only barber shop. I also think they only want to go to prove a point, not to actually enjoy the services.

I totally understand about being uncomfortable for hours sucking but why don't you select the exit row when you buy your ticket? It's usually about $30 more. That money is well worth your comfort. I always select aisle seats because I'm fidgety and like to get up to stretch.
