50k - 25k for the roof would leave 25k left to split (less realtor fees and other costs). Again, explaining her math, not that you have to agree with it. I also didn't say walk away with 10k. I said this amount should be easily negotiated; that MAX your arguing about 16k (which is your number)- and dosen't include a new roof. She threw out a proposal. Ya'll can counter. Or just waste money on attorney's fees and other selling related expenses. Boot your step child out of his childhood home. You …

It honestly just sounds like its worded funny. I don't know if thats because of her words in the exchange or yours in the post. Using her belief on equity: 50k - 25k = 25k / 2 = $12,500. She is offering $10,000. The gap of $2500 would be eaten away (plus some) in selling expenses. A new roof may or may not increase the appraisal value depending on what the appraiser did. Likewise a new roof may or may not increase the sale price of the home; or even change the sellability of the home. Regardless…

Just want to point out that if the roof need to be replaced to sell her math isn't really that far off. 65,000 in equity (using your number) - 25k - 5% (6500) realtor fees =$33.5k / 2 = $16,750 She is already offering a $10k payment to you. Leaving a gap of $6500. Your motion to compel is going to cost. The litigation is going to cost. Your going to eat through the difference quickly.

The federal payments is interesting. Explains why my state has the law that all payments must go through the "enforcement agency" and makes it even more annoying that I have to pay additional funds to do that (instead of paying directly).

I would prefer he move on without my money. But I don't get that either.

I have been going back and forth. I haven't decided. Given the way he is dragging it out, it will be another year before I have to make a decision.

Yes. I would prefer if he hadn't turned into an abusive jerk who was hiring prostitutes. But that isn't something I have control over. How is it reasonable, that I have to change my name because he behaved badly?

I have had my married name for almost as long as I had my maiden name. My married name has also been my name for my entire adult life. That last name is just as much mine as it is his. I would prefer to not be tied to him; however its the kids that are going to keep me tied to him, not the name.

She willingly returned to that, with his child. His post makes no mention of worry for the child. How bad is OP?

Initial hearing, de novo hearings, status hearings. Drive time to all of them. Writing orders, arguing over judges orders, and following up with opposing counsel. GAL costs, GAL conferences. Supenoas for records never provided. Hours reviewing the disclosure documents both from me and the return ones from the ex. Who knows what else. We are a little more than a year in. Take an average of $250 an hr it equals roughly 10 hours of work per month. And they will bill for every email. We came to an o…

I am in $25 or $30kish in and counting. It's hard to keep track because it's not just attorney's fees. Shit, we have actually come to an agreement based on our own negotiations, and we are going to waste another $5k each getting them to write the damn thing.

She was starting to want more and realized it couldn't happen. Rather than cause heartbreak, she ended it. She is also open to hanging out once and a while.

Most daycares charge per week regardless of how many days the child is in attendance. Therefore, a judge may find you responsible for a portion of that care regardless of what you decide for your own care. You could also fight to stipulate for a certain childcare facility. Or a judge could raise your child support to factor in her increased cost. (Personally, I would take paying a portion for the next 3 years vs increased child support). It's about what's equitable, and given she has been out of…

It depends. If you have custody 1 day per week, a reasonable judge will have you pay a portion. If you have 50/50 that MAY be different. Given that she was a sahm, you will likely be responsible for part of "her" cost. In the end, keep in mind that getting her back into the workforce is your best chance of reducing cost over time.

If the divorce has been finalized, it's very unlikely that anything will change unless circumstances have changed.

It's not just men that feel that way. But when your viewpoint is an echo chamber; you will believe that.

Personally, as a woman, this is a decision I really struggle with. Reasons to change: Not having that name anymore. Reasons not to change: - It's been my name almost my entire adult life. - It's been my name almost as long as my maiden name was mine. - I built my career and connections with this name. Nobody knows me by my maiden name. - My kids have this name. - Changing everything sucks and requires more time consuming stupidity. - I also really hate the ties to my maiden name. Emotionally, I …

Is daycare or anything else included in that number? Who provides insurance? I make more than you and my ex make about 80k. The WI calculator puts child support at 1200 for 3 kids before the insurance deduction. Then half of medical and sports , school etc expenses.

My best suggestion is to make the offer of short times. Grab dinner or lunch with her (and her tag alongs). Offer to go to the amusement/water park. Make it about quality vs. quantity. This will come across as spoiled to many on this thread (and yes, it is privileged). But I remember some of my best times with my dad clothes shopping. The teasing me about my choices, the understanding he was never going to question actual needs. And the lunch after. It's was honest, true, and the undivided atten…

I did it because I was a child. A very hurt child flaying in an environment that BOTH my parents caused. Do I regret decisions...yes. Does he regret decisions...yes. I accept the circumstances as they were and make decisions based on now. I can't fix the past, and neither can he. What we both can do is enjoy life now and try to make the best decisions going forward.

Lol. I was a child. The interesting part is that you're talking about adult children who still want nothing to do with you. Hmmm.... what does that say about you?

I know the situations that caused me to alienate my Dad. As an adult....what are you doing? Were you the parent before divorce? Who did your kids go running, too and under what situations? Who got out of bed in the middle of the night (consistently)? Fix it. My dad did.

I agree with this. As an adult woman, I didn't give my dad the time of day as a child/teen/young adult. But when I called; he was always there for me. Guess who sees the grandkids more?

I am a woman, and I find this explanation hilarious. Though, maybe it's because my ex was the garden tool.
