It really annoys me how many women assume any challenges they had in the workplace were due to the fact they were a woman. Is it inconceivable that they might in fact face challenges in the workplace due to gender? Yeah, assholes exist everywhere, but stuff like sexism and racism exists too. They aren't mutually exclusive.

I know it is commonly understood that contemporary schools disfavor boys vis-a-vis girls by mandating that kids sit quietly and pay attention. There's been plenty of push for women in "glamor" combat positions like pilots, though. Even if we don't hire female pilots primarily, we should pretend to -- at least for operations in the Middle East. For Islamic fundamentalists, it's very demoralizing to think that suddenly, in the middle of the night, the supersonic roar and apocalyptic firebombing that fucked your shit up were done by....a woman.
