Any chance we can show him some Men's Rights support? Anyone have an email address? Sure the girl is a bitch and treats him like shit, and even though the guy takes it like a champ, he still has to have his doubts. How about a flood of some supportive Redditor emails? Edit: Too late. At the reunion, Amber stated she was sorry for slapping Gary during the season, and revealed that they are back together and that she may be pregnant again. Poor guy.

A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. Source

Oh my god. What an amazing argument! When you spell it out like that it all makes sense! Kuppers, you've shown me the errors of my ways. You are truly a master of debate.

If you're a man and you're not backed in a corner, you say that you wish the woman in the article was raped. Standard operating procedure. Strawmen are fun! Everyone should make one!

There's a difference between "playing it safe," which I'm certainly not recommending and "wishing for someone to be raped in an alley."

Hope you meet karma in a dark alley some evening! Please don't say things like this. It's just fuel for feminists and anyone who thinks we're all just misogynists

There are certainly pieces of DNA that determine your skin color, hair types, eye shape, etc Yes, but there is an entire chromosome that determines your sex.

Maybe not, but there are places with one bathroom where only either a man or a woman can use it at a time. If a woman is hogging it, tough luck. My point is that sexual discrimination in cases where public "nudity" is a concern already has precedent. Edit typo

These are all valid points, but this is a post on the Men's Rights subreddit dealing with a very unique and interesting case of what would appear on the surface to be sexism against men. If you'd like to have a discussion about the validity of a religion, I recommend cross-posting this over to /r/twoxchromosomes or maybe /r/religion, but I feel it's a discussion that's been a little worn-out due to its constant relevance. I agree that women should be allowed to swim whenever they want, but the t…

Wait, if I recall, 8 seconds ago we were arguing against women getting special treatment at a swimming pool. Now we're defending them against their religious oppression? Sure, some religions are sexist, but that's an argument for another subreddit.

I dunno, it makes it a non-men's rights issue though.

Well then you should petition for a Men's-only swim rather than trying to remove the only opportunity these women have to swim.

...and young people, and old people, and people who don't do Aqua Aerobics. If you want equal treatment, why not petition for a "men's only" swim instead of calling them sexist?

It could be for the Muslim population. My university pool does that. They block all the windows with curtains so the women can swim without worrying about men seeing them.

Fuck you. I can't think of a comment that would be less relevant to this discussion. Comments like these are why people don't take Men's Rights seriously. Even when we win, we're assholes apparently.

There is some level of miscommunication happening here that I don't quite understand. I'm not trying to be a troll. Maybe I'm just not being precise with my language. Perhaps you could clear something up for me. What is the mechanism by which you propose an increase in false rape claims will undermine the feminist movement?
/r/MensRights20/07/10 01:03 AM
-1

The point you are making is that the more false rape claims we have, the less effective they become. This will serve to undermine the Feminist agenda. The important issue here is that in order to do this, we need to have a high number of legitimate rapists getting off scott-free. I think the only tolerable number of legitimate rapists going free is zero. If we need more women to get raped and then ignored in order to stop false rape claims, then we are not doing our part. It's especially sick wh…

We have different moral standings. That's the crux of the issue. For some people, it's worth losing a family member to fight for a cause. Personally, I don't put mothers who circumcise in the same pool as drunk drivers and rapists, but to each his own.

Your loss man. My uncle was a druggie. He died of a heart attack at 50. I didn't get to see much of him, but I'm glad I had what I did.
/r/MensRights12/07/10 06:21 PM

It really shouldnt be though That is irrelevant. Legally, it's the mother's right to circumcise her child, and putting yourself between a mother and her child will only serve to sever family ties with only a small possibility of changing her mind. Educate her, but don't hate her.
/r/MensRights12/07/10 05:58 PM

There's a specific reason I said "being abusive and breaking the law" and not "being abusive or breaking the law". You might consider it abusive, but the fact of the matter is that in our society, it isn't deemed abusive. Rant all you want about that, and please write your congressperson. All I'm advocating is that the OP realize that it's more important to maintain your ties with your family than to keep your nephew's penis intact.

The thing you need to ask yourself is how much you appreciate your relationship with your sister and how much you respect her decision to raise her son as she would like. Inform her all you can, but in the end, it's her decision. You do not want to put yourself in the position of "I will not respect you if you do this." Even if she does end up not circumcising, she will resent you for putting her in such a situation. My father is not on speaking terms with his brother. Sometimes I feel like that…

Male circumcision = removing a flap of skin. Female circumcision = removing the clitoris, a bundle of nerves. I'm not advocating either, but female circumcision is much more severe than male circumcision.

Within limits. I don't think that actual public sex is a good idea. Most nudist colonies ban public sex and even boners (men are required to cover them up). I feel that this is within reason if only for practical reasons (if you think texting while driving is distracting...)

Firstly, there is a difference between a plane mirror and a mirror lens. A plane mirror is much easier to manufacture than a mirror lens. Also, the only main difference between the focal quality of the Hubble and a consumer-grade glass camera lens is the size. Lenses get exponentially harder to manufacture as size increases. That's why Galileo used tiny glass lenses which he made by hand. My point is that there is no physical limitation to the quality that can be obtained through a mirror; there…

Photography optics are quite complex Correct, but a plane mirror is incredibly simple. its pretty well known that mirrors make for vastly inferior optics Mr. Hubble disagrees
/r/MensRights11/03/10 02:53 PM

I still don't understand why. There is nothing inherent about a plane mirror that would destroy an image. Certainly if one was made of high enough quality (probably more than $50's worth), it would produce comparable pictures.
/r/MensRights11/03/10 01:56 AM

Well, that was the first result under a search. Certainly, there has to be a high-quality one of these. There is definitely a good market for it.

Well, I don't really think of it as a statistical study. It's more of a long-form rhetorical question. The idea is to get people to relate with the people on screen and just get an idea of why their prejudices might be wrong. They're not implying that everyone is prejudiced against men, but those who are will get a lot out of this program.

I think just the whole room of bystanders laughing at the prospect of the first guy cheating on the girl (they laughed) is enough. Everyone watching this probably understood exactly why they laughed and saw that it was wrong.

While that is true, I think making an automated app would make more of a point. Like, the issue comes up so often that someone bothered to make it automated. It's like letmegooglethatforyou.com. It's easier to link people to google searches, but the automated page makes a point of it.

Well, if you've seen the ads, it's basically attractive women running around and assaulting men with bad hair and forcing them to wash it. It's obviously supposed to be a joke, but the basic message is "men aren't smart enough to take care of themselves, they need smart women to tell them how to wash their hair." It seems like the ads are more targeted towards women than men.

As a product of divorce myself, I was the target of some serious brainwashing on the part of my mom. She never tried to get me to call the "flavor" (as you put it) "Daddy", but somehow magically whenever I did something bad or something bad happened, it was always my father's fault. If anything, I started to like my father more just because he yelled at me less. She was incredibly bitter about the divorce, but after a few years this wore off. My parents were divorced when I was 6 years old, and …

The point I'm making is that you're trying to make what was a single isolated incident into some world-altering all-encompassing event. There are finer details happening here (was the man armed? were the two employees near each other? were either of the employees armed? etc) so you can't extrapolate this incident into some world-wide epidemic. I don't know about you, but if we keep up on our current path, we're more than likely going to destroy ourselves. No, just sometimes people are going to b…
