https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/relationships/article-women-older-than-65-dont-want-to-live-with-their-partners/ The Globe isn't a scientific journal but I found this one interesting.

This whole post is about professional women who don’t need providers? ie if you don’t provide they don’t need to find somebody who will. I super don’t accept that our only value is socioeconomic and I wouldn’t date someone who thought that Like if that’s what you’re into that’s cool my man but I don’t roll that way.

A lot of them yeah. But that doesn’t mean all woman doctors will only marry doctors. I mean. You get that crossover in a lot of job lines because another (insert profession here) understands the demands of your job. But that doesn’t mean all. This isn’t enough data for an actual study but certainly enough to disprove “all”-I know five woman doctors. Four are married to not doctors, one has been in a serious relationship for six years with a not doctor.

I wouldn’t say never, but it doesn’t seem as common. I think we should just not do it. Choose partners and not people who are a drag on us, or at least not put up with it when it happens. It’s archaic and unnecessary

Downvote me to hell but I can’t agree with this. “Without a decent job” can mean a lot of things. Doesn’t necessitate “must provide” or “must outearn,” but probably something more like, “I’m looking for the type of human being who wants to do something in their life besides living on the couch with Cheeto fingers.” It always astounds me how (some unconfirmed number of) men put up with women WO add nothing to the relationship. SAHM is a huge job, and people can definitely still add value when une…

To be clear it's totally fine if it is awkward. Just the original question was "is it always like this?"

No, not always. Usually....yes. but every once in a while you first-kiss somebody and it rocks your world

"assuming every man deserves a wife/woman/partner and all" Wait, what? Since when? No man or woman just inherently "deserves" a partner

And by not subtly I don't mean be super obvious. Just as you leave set it down like it's no big deal

In general very bad idea. It's literally her job to be nice to you and very uncomfortable for people in the service industry, who are often approached with varying levels of creepiness and no option but to be polite, smiley, and friendly. The literal only way I'd recommend to do this is to (not subtly) leave one of those "hey I think you're attractive" cards I've seen on like the chive with your name and number. That way the person knows who left it and cannot decide whether to engage. If she do…

I would say yes. As I happen to be a reasonably attractive woman, I do have said options. Honestly confused by what you're asking here. But again my philosophy has always been to only date people whom I really want to date and who really want to date me. I've never been looking to "feel like I earned something" in this aspect of my life.

I mean also assuming most people have like 1-4 people they potentially could live a happy married life with til they die, the overwhelming majority of relationships will end and.....that's actually okay. So -potentially- (probably) the things that would have caused this relationship to end just surfaced once you actually started spending time with the girl. Like man, I'm all for not getting dumped but if the only way to do it is not actually be in a relationship with the girl what's the damn poi…

Ah yes, the one true dichotomy of beautiful women (the ones who try to impress me) and women who do their own thing. Whether or not a woman can see through bullshit like this has nothing to do with how much makeup she wears my dude.

They're also the same guys holding up their phones to their token woman friend asking if she thinks the OK Cupid match is "too far"

Right. TBH I don't care if I'm into someone if they aren't into me. One of my initial judgments on "is this person even worth a date?" is whether they give a shit, want to be genuine and get to know me, or they're just a child playing games which is super unattractive. If someone in my life acts like OP suggested, I consider that their decision to self-select out of being considered as a potential anything more than passing acquaintance.

Or, like, maybe we just needed to buy frozen waffles

You'd have more luck with a shorter conversation and ask. Your plan includes following her home which is creepy and would make most women feel unsafe. Not a good lead up to asking for a number. Better would be to talk on the tram/bus just before your stop, tell her you really enjoyed talking to her, and just want to take a chance-would she like to grab coffee sometime? Leaves her free to meet you somewhere she feels safe (since she doesn't know you) without giving up her home address.

Dude you met her at the dentist (where she was not busy, because waiting room). She's probably busy.

FWIW, my roommate and I went to dance classes pretty frequently on weekends before covid. It's fun, you're actually doing something, you get to dress up. Can confirm that for men, being able to/willing to/good at dancing is very attractive (source: we are women; source: my college friend who is bomb at salsa/Bachata picked up easily 20 women in one semester, we counted). Can also confirm that there aren't usually extra dudes hanging around at these events so we often end up dancing with each oth…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
