One woman I dated was a solid 9 and was frankly out of my league but I had fortunate timing and we had a friend in common who set us up, so I managed to charm her and we dated exclusively for about six months. It was great while it lasted, but like many guys who date hot women, she two-timed me and then dumped me for the other guy. Like others have said in this thread, hot women make your life more exciting and give you confidence, and sex with them is definitely awesome. The observation about g…

Feminism used to be more extreme back in the’60s and ‘70s, because they had more to fight against. It cooled down after Reagan took office. Like many things, it tends to ramp up and down.

Bingo. This also highlights a serious flaw in the central credo of most red pill influencers that boils down to feminism being responsible for the average man’s dating struggles these days, when feminism has been around for decades and dating only became impossible after the apps got popular, which pretty much narrows it down. ETA: You’re also right about equality feeling oppressive to feminists, especially when money is involved. In my lived experience, feminism tends to evaporate once said wom…

Not for most men, no. Women leave us at the drop of a hat these days. Loyalty is cherished above all else, and that only comes when she respects and looks up to you.

Exactly. As Scott Galloway says, “Would you date you?” If the answer is no, then you’ve got work to do. Honestly, getting in shape and having a good job that pays well that you’re proud of is over 90% of it. If you don’t have those things, make plans to get those things. The rest is window dressing.

Yep. Women aren’t satisfied with a man unless they feel like they have to step upward from where they are to join his life. It’s just how they’re wired.

Not chasing is key. It took me way too long to learn this. Make yourself seem as attractive, interesting and approachable as you can instead, then once you’ve got their attention, express interest but don’t overdo it. It seems strange at first but you get the hang of it. As Casanova said long ago: “Be the flame, not the moth.”

That’s when I stopped the video, yeah. That plus bemoaning the persecution of Andrew Tate was a bridge too far.

No, PopularBug is on the right track but using the wrong word. Men need to pursue women to show interest and get the ball rolling in the first place, but then she needs to reciprocate and show that she is interested too for the courtship to begin. Chasing implies that she does not reciprocate interest but he keeps pursuing anyway. That’s the big waste of time. It’s like a dance. It won’t happen unless both parties are involved and the more you practice it the better you get at it. What makes it …
/r/PurplePillDebate27/12/23 01:54 PM

I think it also just feels inherently unfair. There’s no reciprocity in the equation to speak of since most women have no romantic interest in younger men. May-December relationships are almost always one way and not the other. I get that it must be frustrating but at the end of the day there is nothing illegal going on so long as both parties are consenting adults.

True, but I don’t blame them. As a male stand-up comedian whose name I can’t remember said recently during a set, “If you were sticking things into me, I’d have questions too.”

I think the better metaphor is that dating is looking for a clean glass of water in the desert (men) versus the swamp (women). Swamp water is abundant, but none of it is clean, and it’s full of nasty critters to boot.

True, but that’s who OP is speaking to here.

Maybe a little, but that is how young men speak to each other. It gets right to the point. It’s also accurate.

Depends on the colleague and the setting. Remember, many happy couples meet at work.

Completely agree. If you are interested in someone, you’ve got to show it early on by kissing them both because it’s fun but also to make your intentions known. Don’t be shy about it. If they reciprocate, then great. If they don’t, then you have your answer. Just don’t let too much time go by before you cross that barrier or you’ll get ‘zoned.

I think what you’re describing is self-confidence. Women need to sense it in a man in order to be romantically interested. If she senses that it may be lacking, that’s when the shit testing begins.

Yeah, I had a run in with one of these women who I met through freelance work a couple of years ago. It was my first exposure to this phenomenon so I had no resistance built up for it and mistook her initiating conversation with me (via text usually) as genuine romantic interest at first. As time wore on I learned that she was in an emotionally unfulfilling relationship with a boyfriend that she was living with and craved attention and since she found me funny and knew I was single she would rea…

This is it, I believe. Drugs can be perceived as “bad boy” behavior, and some young women love that shit. If they also have a maternal instinct that manifests itself as wanting to fix self-destructive guys, they are even more attracted. It’s not healthy, but it’s a thing. In my experience, most women outgrow this eventually after they learn the hard way that these tendencies make for a rough love life.

That oft-repeated line about how you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with comes to mind. It’s weird how accurate this is. Just goes to show how we are all social creatures and can’t help it. Moral of the story? Hang out with people you want to emulate. Turn away from those you don’t. It really works.

Sure didn’t feel that way at the time. Just gotta move on and remember there are other fish in the sea.

To me, a shit test is a little unsettling or embarrassing question that catches you off guard and tests your mettle but whose answer shouldn’t matter, though she thinks it does. I got dumped a while back for giving the wrong answer to a shit test question without realizing I was being tested. Out of nowhere she asked how long it had been since I last slept with someone, and when I told her the honest answer (quite a while thanks partly to the pandemic), she cited that answer as grounds for endin…

Attracting women is a complicated business. I once thought like you do, that I could do much better if only I could improve one or two things about myself, but it’s not that simple, I’m telling you. Women have like 10 traits that they look for in a guy (age, height, looks, money, smarts, humor, etc) each with minimum thresholds that he has to meet in order to be seriously considered as having romantic potential, and coming up short in any one of them is grounds for dismissal. They can suss you o…

Solid list. It corroborates what I’ve heard from other women. Re #1, I think the basic rule is just don’t be fat. I’ve heard women say there is such a thing as too jacked but they all appreciate a toned physique and are never fans of dad bods. For #2 I think it boils down to not committing any fashion faux pas because those are never forgiven or forgotten. #3 can be summed up as “don’t be a meanie, be funny instead.” Every woman I’ve ever met loves a funny guy (or girl if that’s what she’s into)…

To this, I would add: Achieve career success. Easier said than done, but if you can do it you will enjoy greater confidence with everything in life and have more money to your name, which always helps. I’ve noticed that this is the secret sauce in many successful relationships and marriages and suspect it’s because she respects the guy more and is therefore willing to forgive other shortcomings.

Interesting. I suppose the trick would be to be able to tell the difference between uncertainty and disinterest. I’ve learned that once you start getting mixed messages or she starts playing games, it’s best to move on rather than go down that road and find another woman who is genuinely interested, but that’s just me. Maybe I’m too impatient. 😁

Confident persistence feels like one of those things that could theoretically work but I’ve never seen it in real life. Instead what I see out there are smitten guys try in vain to get an attractive woman to date him when in fact she categorized him as a platonic friend right away and never changes her mind. Perhaps this could vary depending on the culture of the people involved, but here in the US women know within the first few minutes of meeting you whether you have potential or not, I find.

I was getting hit on by a female poly co-worker back in the day and invited to, uh, “date” her with her husband’s permission but politely declined the offer. The truth is that I just wasn’t physically attracted to her but thought she was funny and a good hang, so we became platonic friends and I learned a few things about how that community operates. She was bi so she dated mostly girls while he was straight so he dated other women exclusively but they had strict rules to follow (safe sex was ma…

Ditto. Was asked out four times, said yes four times. One of those dates led to a relationship too. I’m all for getting asked out. Wish it happened more often, frankly.

Maybe that’s the wrong word, but I genuinely believe that each time that happened she wasn’t interested but liked me enough as a person that she didn’t want to hurt my feelings, so I never got a hard no. The irony is that the lack of clarity did more harm in the long run because I’d mistakenly believe that I had a chance and spent more time chasing. I think this occurs because most people are hard wired to not be rude in such situations, but sometimes a direct approach is best.

The best advice I’ve ever heard falls in line with this. It was, “If they like you, you will know. If they don’t, you will be confused.” Hearing this made me reflect back on every girlfriend I’ve had and I realized it was true. Each of them expressed interest early on via body language cues and then said yes when I asked them out. No games, no playing hard to get, no delays in texting back. That shit only occurs when she has no romantic interest in you but is too polite to say no, and I was too …

Exactly. There is a ton of nuance involved with interacting once you’ve identified the woman showing interest in you, but it’s that crucial step of spotting her in the first place where too many of us fall on our butt. The innate tendency is to ID a woman that we are attracted to and then repeatedly try to impress her even after she has dropped subtle signs of disinterest. I still do this actually, but I’m getting better at catching myself in the act and knowing it’s time to abandon the chase. L…

Ah, I see. Yeah, she has to notice you and like you for all this to even begin. Guys who are less attractive have to find a type of woman that responds to them and focus their efforts, but that is hard to predict.

Nice username. I dig it. I get how that approach (waiting for a green light before approaching) may sound passive, but there is nuance to it. Make yourself presentable, put your best foot forward, invite her attention, but don’t expect good results unless she opens the door and invites you in. Then the dance can begin. That’s what I mean.

Late to the party here, but #6 is the key point that too many guys fail to fully grasp. #1-5 can basically be summarized by the elementary concepts of “go fishing where the fish are” and “strike while the iron is hot,” but a full volume or two can be written to explain point #6 and how not to fail when it comes to this. In college my friends and I used to say “don’t hit the gas unless she gives you the green light,” otherwise it is just a waste of your time since, as you say, they won’t change t…

I agree, partner dancing is a good metaphor here, for the reasons you just stated. I’m going to save this one in my brain to recall later and help guide future decisions. Another one I use sometimes sounds cliché but is still accurate: Men are like dogs and women like cats when it comes to showing them affection. Men typically love being showered with affection in order to gain their love and trust, just as one would just walk over to a new dog and pet it vigorously or rub its belly, etc. Cats, …

I’m not quite as ruthless as some of the other commenters here in that I will allow a longer timeline to pass before rendering a verdict on whether to continue on with a woman who has friendzoned me. Since you guys haven’t known each other long and she is inviting you to meet up, there may be an opportunity here. It’s your job to try and find out. I say go to this meetup and feel things out. Keep the flirtation going and ask some questions. See if you can gauge what her relationship status and l…

In my experience, the quotation by stand-up comic Rita Rudner is accurate, which is: Nice guys don’t finish last. They finish 3rd out of 6. Short guys finish last. I think most women are attracted to confidence, and are willing to overlook other issues so long as that confidence is there. Confident guys don’t fall into that kind of disingenuous “nice guy” behavior described above and aren’t pushovers either. They can be genuinely nice though, and I have seen those guys get multiple women interes…
