Can someone explain to me how this is a men's rights issue?
/r/MensRights10/04/18 09:36 PM
1

Sure, one woman or two helped along the way, but it's like men don't get credit for being super smart and hard working. Women weren't even allowed to get an education for most of history, let alone work and innovate and contribute to society. Men are not better simply because they've had far more opportunities to be better.

No I got that part, I just want to know why so many people in this sub seem to be encouraging this behavior and line of thinking, ya know, since it's fucking bananas.

Apparently, a lot of people in this sub think the same thing. See above comments for proof.

Can anyone tell me why this is downvoted? Does quitting your job because you're so terrified of the opposite sex seem like a rational thing to you? Honestly, this is considered logical and totally sane to this sub?
/r/MensRights13/12/17 01:12 AM

It's mind-bloggling that a totally rational reply is downvoted while ones that say "I'm so paranoid that I refuse to even speak to women like they're fellow humans" are upvoted. I thought this sub was mensrights, not trp.

If a child's needs are only $900, I agree, because then each parent is paying the exact amount of money for the child, and any left over would go to whoever paid more. Buuuuut, seeing as how one parent is paying double than the other, any left over money should go to the parent who contributed more.
/r/MensRights16/11/17 08:58 PM
0

The thing is that you're assuming the one parent (mother, in your scenario) would be paying for certain things regardless of whether she had a child or not, such as rent. These costs increase with children, so she's paying more than she would be otherwise. I assume this is why you think Mom and Dad are both paying equal parts, when in fact they are not. Mom is paying more than double what Dad is paying, and you are saying that it doesn't matter if Mom has spent nearly $900 that month on child ca…

If the money is already spent, then who's money is supposed to be given back to the other parent?
/r/MensRights16/11/17 08:24 PM
1

I'm trying to give you an example with smaller numbers so it's easier to understand. We can go back to the original numbers, in which the total cost is $1,300, and one parent only pays $430 while the other parent pays $870. Why should the parent who pays double what the other does give money back to them?
/r/MensRights16/11/17 08:14 PM
0

Sure, let's assume there's money left over after all the child's necessities are taken care of. Shouldn't the leftover money go to the person who spent 2/3rds more on the child?
/r/MensRights16/11/17 08:09 PM
1

That's unrealistic and not how things work. If Dad spends $200 on school supplies and clothes for the kids, and Mom gives him $50 to help out, he should say no thanks, I've already covered it, here's your money back?
/r/MensRights16/11/17 08:05 PM
0

The parent who spent only $430 on childcare? Not the parent who spent $1,300? Interesting.
/r/MensRights16/11/17 07:55 PM

Like I said, if the child is taken care of and has everything they need, why can't a parent buy themselves a pair of pants or something?
/r/MensRights16/11/17 07:41 PM

A parent who spends $1300 on a child each month should return money to the parent who chipped in less than a third of that cost? If I have $70 for a gift for my mother, and my sister gives me $30 for her 'half', should I give her money back if the price comes to $90?

Giersch's U.S. visa was revoked in April 2012,[17] after Rutherford's lawyer informed the State Department about issues pertaining to Giersch's businesses, which led the Department to conclude that they had sufficient evidence to deport him.[17] It has been reported that the allegations involved fraud[17] or an involvement in drugs and weapons dealing in South America, considered terrorism under the Victory Act. According to reports, the average cost of raising a child for 18 years is more or less $300,000. If my math is correct, that's $16,000 a year, and $1,300 a month. The average child support payment is $430 a month. Logically, it's not hard to see that most people who receive child support aren't saying "Woo hoo! More cash for me!" and then going out to buy crack while their kids starve. Most people need that money to help with bills and necessities. And I can't say that I'm against a person spend…

How do you imagine that would work? Vouchers that can only be used to purchase formula and toys? How would that work with things like rent and utilities? Would that compensate the mother for money she spent on the child instead of on herself?
/r/MensRights16/11/17 06:40 PM

That's awful. But /u/KaiRaiUnknown is right, this isn't a men's rights issue, this is the effect of mental health stigmas and poor veteran care, neither of which discriminate against men or women in their mistreatment. This bullshit affects everyone.

Implying that men get degrees in intelligent and noble areas while women get "degrees" (the quotation marks are necessary, I guess) in liberal arts, which apparently is a stupid thing to do. And this comment, of course: "Probably because men, on average, are not dumb enough to shill out 120 grand for a PhD in 18th century lesbian poetry." Might as well just stop beating around the bush and say men are smart and women are stupid and be out with it.

female sexual predation against boys is a major cause of adult male sexual aggression against women. This is a closely guarded secret in feminist circles. Sorry, just to clarify: you're saying that most male sexual abusers were themselves abused by females, and feminists know this, and they have a conspiracy to keep this information from the public?

I saw this on facebook the other day and read all the comments. A lot of them pointed out the 'disgusted look' the older girl gives the mother as proof that Mom's taking them home and beating them senseless. While I feel bad for the kids being so upset (and I understand how hard it is for them to not be with their dad), them crying like that doesn't mean that mom's abusing them. My daughter acted the exact same way last week when I told her she couldn't wear high heels to school.

If you're talking about me, then meh. My ex and I aren't like that and try not to actively screw each other over (he doesn't pay me child support). In the article, it sounds like the state went after him, not his wife, so I'd say it's more the state's responsibility to fix their dumb law than it is for him to get divorced from someone he hasn't even seen in 16 years.

He wanted the kid. They were engaged at the time. He hung around until the 7th month and then just did not come home one afternoon. But, ya know, we can assume things too.

Maybe it's expensive/a major pain in the ass/unnecessary. My ex and I have been separated for like 4 years and neither have filed for separation or divorce. There's not really any point at this time and it'd be more trouble than just leaving it for now. I assume it's the same for the guy in the article.

Regardless of accuracy, like I said, saying "but soldiers are dying overseas!" in response to any complaint or worry that anyone might have is a dickish thing to do. I'm sure she was just as upset as everyone else that men and boys were drafted, but criticizing a 17-year-old girl who grew up during the Great Depression for making a choice that would potentially help support her family for the rest of their lives instead of continuing to work in a factory for however long they expected the war to…

I didn't know we were playing "Compare This Thing to WWII". If your point is that she's a baby or something, I'll remind you that she was 17 at the time, and I'm assuming helped support her mother who had scoliosis, since her father was long dead. Clearly, she thought it a wiser life decision to be a cello player than to work in a factory for however long the war might have lasted. And saying "but soldiers are dying overseas!" in response to any complaint or worry that anyone might have is a dic…

I don't know jack about NZ, but do they have double jeopardy laws like the US? If she's already been sentenced, then a petition to send her to jail isn't going to do much, is it?

I assumed they used all her previous problems as evidence of sexual assault. Kids that are messed with like that often act out. My grandma was just saying earlier today that she knew this girl who was just evil, like setting things on fire and pushing friends in front of oncoming cars and stuff, and it turned out that she'd been being raped by her uncle since she was little. A lot of people assume kids act out like that for a reason.

My brother is schizophrenic and said some gross and inappropriate things about my 7-year-old, and I had a really, really hard time not punching him in the throat. I know it's wrong to hit people, and I know I would probably spend at least a night in jail, but holy shit the rage you feel when someone sexualizes your child is like none other. It's unworldly. So... ya know, in some situations, I think it is okay to just go ahead and sock someone in the kisser for something they said.

I agree. Didn't want to say anything because I'm female, but although 'men buy underwear too' and regardless of his reasons for being there, I think it's a bit short sighted on his part to expect to let in to a lingerie show that's marketed as 'ladies night'. I wouldn't expect to be allowed into a banana hammock show on night marketed as 'men's night'. And I'd feel like a creep doing it.

I said the same thing on another thread and got downvoted for it. If she didn't want to go to the police or at least tell whoever is above her and him, I could understand if she had told a close friend in private or something, but to just kinda casually mention it over Twitter of all things, seems like she's doing it because she wants to ruin his reputation. And saying that doesn't imply that actual rape victims shouldn't be believed, it simply means that this situation smells super fishy.

I'm also curious about the charges- Charges include: conspiracy, hate crime, kidnapping, involuntary servitude, forced human labor, murder in aid of racketeering, sex trafficking, theft from the government, false statements, wire fraud and mail fraud. Totally not a lawyer, but I think she could surely be charged with something stronger than "murder in aid of racketeering".

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that on whatever planet you're from, the 14 year olds are all 3 feet tall and have pig tails and are still years away from puberty, therefore you think it's impossible to mistake any teenager for anything other than the precise age they are. Google's a good thing. As you can clearly see, he asked her how old she was, and she said she was 17. She was listed under the 'adult' section of the app. The girl and her mother both testified on his behalf, and the girl admitted to everyone that she had lied. You can act self-righteous all you want, but don't try to portray a thing as something else. He didn't intend to have sex with a 14-year-old, like you're insinuating.

Ah, thank you. That's what I was wondering about. So, until we know what they will charge her with, if she's to be charged at all, we can't assume that there's a 'pussy pass' happening and that they're just going to let her go on her merry way, like OP assumes. I just can't see her not being charged with anything, regardless of her gender, because a child is dead and most people are not indifferent to that.
/r/MensRights31/03/15 09:43 PM

That makes sense, thank you. I'm wondering, though, is there something else they would charge her with instead? Like, is there something that's like murder that would be more fitting in this case? Like, negligent homicide and abuse instead of murder and neglect? I just can't see them completely not charging her with anything when there's bountiful evidence and confessions.

Well like I said, I'm completely ignorant of British law and I don't know what else they could charge her with if not murder. I don't know if that's the right question, since the Supreme Court date she's waiting on makes it seem like they're definitely going to charge her with something, and seeing as how she's pleaded guilty and there's video evidence, I can't see them settling on a lesser charge. Yeah, that's what I'm wondering about. She pleaded guilty to everything and they have video evidence of the abuse, so I don't understand. It's not like they just let her go, since she's still in jail and waiting on a hearing, so I'm not sure of what the significance of "The Crown withdrew the charges" is. It might sorta discourage it, but it doesn't prevent it. Besides, isn't brigading against the rules anyways? If someone does it, then ban them for it, but making a rule that people can't link to reddit threads in reddit threads is dumb.

Understood. But "no, I'm not interested in him in any way" is not the same as "yes, I'd hit it and he wants me to, but he's got this thing with my 'friend' and I'm not really looking for a relationship".

I'm a single mother and I'm offended by it. My ex was actually a pretty damn good father when he was around, and it makes me uncomfortable that this site is promoting the idea that a family should be 'Mommy Vs Daddy: Who is More Loved?' Raising children should not be a competition.

Right. Is there really much pride in sleeping with someone who's already taken? I wouldn't go around bragging about having someone else's leftovers, that's for sure. And in my experience, the kind of people that boast about sleeping with taken people are the same kind of people that also brag about things like driving drunk and tricking people into giving them money. I don't trust people with sketchy morals like that. BTW OP, the "my relationship is on the rocks and we're about to break up anywa…

I'm well aware of this. But do you honestly think that ANY girl is going to be receptive to a guy who reacts like that after she's rejected him? That's like a toddler yelling "I didn't want to play with it anyway!" when another kid won't share a toy. It's juvenile.
/r/seduction14/04/14 01:21 PM

Hey, /u/ImStatus, you look like you fell out of the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down. Haha, I'm just being playful, so it's not rude at all! I don't hate you, just your advice. The way a person responds to rejection says a lot about their character, and I'll be honest, if a person responded to my rejection civilly instead of with some I-don't-care-if-you-have-a-boyfriend shit, I'd think twice about rejecting him. But a rude reaction just automatically kills any and all attraction. Like I said in another comment, what's the point in being rude to someone just because they're taken? Eh. You're not making unreasonable arguments, but I'm in one of those moods where everything I hear is suddenly 'fightin' words'. Serious question, though. Have you ever been pepper sprayed? O2 stats aside, it's still very hard to breathe when it feels like every hole in your face is literally on fire and bodily fluids are pouring out of and blocking those holes. I saw a soldier dragged out of a gas chamber unconscious because he was throwing up so badly that he passed out.

Did you just get here, son? This is reddit, where nobody, repeat, NOBODY ever stays on topic. Also, on planet Earth, it's common amongst the dominate species (humanae redditicus) to follow the flow of conversation to include other topics and to also voice their opinions on things relevant to the original topic. Since we're assuming things, I'm going to assume most people in your life dread speaking to you and avoid actual conversation at all cost.

Now, I'm not a doctor, but isn't a heart attack caused by stress to the heart? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wouldn't you say that not being able to breath properly would cause the heart to have to beat harder to push the limited oxygen it's receiving through the body? Combine that with high adrenaline and being forcibly held down on your face with the weight on five grown men on top of you and, well, that sounds.... stressful.

Do you really want the number of police killed to be greater than the number of people police kill? That's not what I was implying, no. I'm making a point that seeing as how being a cop is supposedly one of the most dangerous jobs, they don't seem to have a very high death toll. Pretty reasonable and lower-then-expected amount of deaths, I would even say. Seems like being an innocent civilian just walking around doing nothing wrong is a helluva lot more dangerous than whatever the cops claim the…

There was nothing at all unclear about what he said. You tried to read between the lines and assumed he was implying something that he wasn't actually implying. i wouldnt have had to assume anything. Who's holding a gun to your head and forcing you to assume stuff? You should call the police. They'll "help" you.

but I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Rodriguez had some known or unknown preexisting condition that was exacerbated by wrestling around. Well see, being pepper sprayed in the face makes it a little difficult to breathe, let alone being held down on your belly so you can't take a decent breath and with five people putting weight on you and pulling your arms behind your back.

Right, and I don't think it's that farfetched to assume that someone who put in a lot of time and money and energy into something that was supposed to last ("til death do us part") should be entitled to some compensation should the other party break that contract. True, but I mean, the guy's a surgeon banking a million a year, and the reason is because of those moves. If you were a doctor and knew that moving would help you earn a million a year, I'm sure that would soften the blow a lot. And it doesn't sound like he was all that lonely, seeing as how he had a wife and children AND mistresses to keep him company.
/r/MensRights08/10/13 11:14 AM

I agree with some of what you're saying, but I disagree with some. If a man opened a restaurant with a partner and that partner ended up screwing him over somehow so that the first man was forced to leave the business, wouldn't you think it would be entitled to some money? Or should he be just left with what's in his pockets and told that he's an adult and it's his own fault for investing all his money?

Oddly enough, I see this as pretty fair I do too, and not just because I'm female. The article states she moved several times to allow him to pursue his career (to different countries, even), had to deal with two separate affairs that he had, and at one point, was harassed by one of her husband's mistresses at her job and was forced to quit and involve the police because of it. Husband earns a million a year and she is receiving a million. Sounds fair to me.

I'll admit, a lot of things in the sub I find questionable, and some downright offputting, but this, this would totally work with me, and I can't see how it wouldn't work with any other female. Even if she gives you a perplexed/awkward look, or if she laughs it off and looks down to ease the tension, or comes back with a "well you cant have me", it doesn't matter. I can't really comment on this case because I don't know the full details, but from what I've seen here and on the video, she made the boy touch her breasts? And she filmed it, as you say. After rewatching the video, I realize I was wrong. At around 7:40 of the video, the judge addresses the woman and tells her that she can make a statement in her own defense, and I thought he said "but being a minor, you are not required to make a statement but are entitled to it", but he actually says "keeping in mind, you are not required to make a statement..." Ya know, we're in the seduction subreddit, so I assume that most posts are geared more toward getting a girl to sleep with you than getting a girl into a relationship, and definitely not about maintaining one. I'm a girl, and neither I nor any female I know will "love you more for it". No one wants a conceited emotionless lover who never reciprocates. I've no idea why you think equality is a bad thing.

That's kinda messed up logic.

This is a real thing? Holy crap, I didn't know that. Why aren't married women required to get their husband's signature to have an abortion?

Well, yes, but just because we happen to be discussing it in this particular forum and OP may have been pushing subliminal interactions at her, doesn't necessarily mean that she is. Of course, it's entirely plausible that she's just messing with him or whatever, but I'm just playing devil's advocate here.

Because usually the first reaction to someone reminding you of something you forgot is to say "oh, I forgot"? I don't know. Unless she's an supervillian or a sociopath, most girls don't sit around plotting ways to get their potential love interest's rankles up. Most people just kinda spit out what they're thinking, and she was probably just thinking that she had forgotten about it. Girls aren't really the uber-complicated beings that most people think. Sometimes a comment is just a comment and t…

No. Forgetfulness is a familial idiosyncrasy.

The VERY last time? Probably last night, when I went to Winn Dixie specifically to buy a cheesecake, then promptly forgot all about it as soon as I got home. Before that, it was Thanksgiving. Before that, my divorce hearing. Before that, my mother coming to visit from the other end of the country. I think people who aren't forgetful don't understand how people with bad memories forget things, but it happens, and easily, and frequently.

You don't have to be unexcited about things in order to forget them.

I'm sure everyone's saying "shit test", but maybe she's got a lot on her mind or she's just forgetful. I know most people seem to think that if something is important or something that person really cared about that they would somehow force themselves to remember it, but that's not necessarily true. I have a HORRIBLE memory and I routinely forget my own age and that my grandfather died two years ago. So, it may not be a shit test.

You have no idea how much it pisses me off that men like you feel obligated to swallow your discomfort and not be able to tell anyone what happened to you for fear of teasing and other negative repercussions. I hate that we live in a world where men have to just shut up and deal with shit like this. I'm sorry this happened to you and I'm sorry your friend is an asshole and I'm sorry you've been made to feel like you can't do anything about it or talk to anyone.

Really? I'm not being sarcastic, I just honestly can't see anyone actually getting a girl (at least not for anything more than a one-nighter) with that line. I would be so turned off.

always go for her friend. Woman thrive off being jealous of their friends I dunno about this. The second I see a guy going after a friend, I immediately back off, and most girls I know are the same way.

Can't cite a source as I'm on my phone, but some states allow male rapists visitation/partial custody with any baby they create. Somehow that seems worse to me, that a rape victim would first have to deal with the trauma of a rape, then have to make the difficult decision to keep the baby, then be forced to interact with their rapist on a regular basis during court hearings/mediation/visitation and custody exchanges, and live with knowing your child is in the hands of a rapist. Kinda makes payin…

Ah, I see why this is a tough decision for you then. I hope the choice you make is the right one for you and everything works out for the best.

If you do charge her and you still have your charges against you for awhile, won't you have proof that the charges were dropped and she was charged for lying, like if you needed to explain it to a future employer or something?

As to the first part of your comment, about how doing things for others causes love, I was a little skeptical about that too. Then I remembered while I was growing up, my Mom had this fridge magnet that said "Love isn't a feeling, it's an action", and I think maybe that's what the author is talking about. It's hard to hate someone when you go out of your way to show them affection.

God, as a mom, this shit seriously pisses me off. My daughter cries every night for her father, saying "Daddy, come back", and there are women out there who will intentionally put their children through this and keep them away from men who love them and actually want to be a part of their lives. IMO, only a sociopath would deliberately cause that kind of pain and emotional scarring to another human being. I wish I could give you some advice, but all I can say is I'm sorry you're going through th…

So getting the number when he didn't plan on actually pursuing the girl is practice for getting numbers of girls he likes?

What's the point in getting a number if you don't plan on ever speaking to the girl again?

sigh This is mensrights, Reddit's He-Man Woman-Haters club. You're going to get downvoted for making a rational argument and not being in favor of the toddleresque ideals of "she hit me first so I have to hit her back". I'm a woman and I subbed this group because I'm wholeheartedly in favor of a reformation of men's rights in this country, yet all I've seen here is "boys rule, girls drool" type comments. I thought we were about equality here. You're right. His actions weren't protecting himself,…

As someone who was married to a man who wanted sex constantly, I see where she's coming from. He never wanted to talk to me, hear my opinion, actually DO stuff with me that didn't involve bumping uglies, etc. I felt used and that he was only around for sex. Not saying OP is like that, but a man constantly asking for sex isn't all that awesome after a while, and begging becomes no one. Now bring on the downvotes.
