This, I believe, calls for you to be completely honest with yourself and face the harsh reality. As your first sentence, you think these sessions are pointless already so I doubt that means pursuing the relationship even more. With a detached wife like yours, your marriage is less likely to be happy and healthy, which will eventually affect your teenagers. My stance on this? File for a divorce.

I'm sorry you're going through this. While I don't know your wife personally, it sounds like she's grappling with her own confusion, and you absolutely don't deserve to be treated this way. Your feelings right now are completely valid. If I were in your position, I too would be an emotional wreck, especially after putting in the effort to consider reconciliation. Given everything that's happened, I really think it's time to establish a clear, significant distance, even if that means cutting off …

I may not have decades of experience like you have or a failed marriage under my belt, but as a relationship consultant, I've seen many men in your shoes who’d lost hope. For whatever reason—be it fear of another bad relationship, societal pressures, or just being emotionally drained—my consistent advice is this: you need to actively build a path for love to enter your life. That might involve getting outside your usual routine, hitting up some dating events, or even exploring connections overse…

Based on what you've said, your wife is clearly projecting her fears onto you, which is why she accused you of infidelity when she was developing feelings for another man. I, for one, would want to thank you for telling your story here. Along with relieving some of the burden you've been carrying, this encourages guys like you to talk more freely about their difficulties, particularly in light of Men's Mental Health Awareness Month. You’ll get through this!

I’d have to agree with some of the comments here. Men are often portrayed as villains in many situations, and I’m sorry this unfairly happened to you. I think it would be best to seek legal assistance on how to navigate this, especially given how your wife has been exploiting the situation. This way, your actions can be measured appropriately and help keep you away from further trouble.

That's a significant amount of time. I feel like you need to be firmer with drawing boundaries with her or you risk letting resentment build.

I'm curious, how long have you two been seeing each other? If this relationship is still new, it's a good idea to establish your priorities, especially with your kids. It's perfectly fine to want some time together; just be sure you're both still respecting each other's personal space and commitments.

I'm so sorry you're going through such a difficult time. It's definitely wise to consult with your lawyer about the financial matters. As for the matters of the heart, creating a strict distance and protecting your finances are essential steps. Betrayal from someone you shared such a vision with is incredibly painful. However, I'm confident in your strength and your son's, and I know you'll both emerge from this stronger.

You should consult a lawyer immediately. Knowing how manipulative your wife can get, legal counsel will be crucial in protecting you and your children. Yes, divorce can be very tough and demanding, but this could pave the way to a much healthier and happier living situation for you and your kids.

First of all, I truly respect your ability to acknowledge your part in this situation. That takes real strength. However, it will be best if you simply honor her decision at this point. I bet this wasn’t easy for her to do, too, so I don’t think nagging her to reconsider would be helpful. Give her the space she needs, but continue to demonstrate positive change. Above all, focus on being a present and supportive father to your daughters. They deserve your undivided attention and priority.

Oh God, I couldn’t even imagine what that must’ve felt like for you when she sat you down and spoke those words. A part of me is also grieving for your son. She must’ve really carried all her grudges silently that it got to this sudden decision. I've seen in the comments that you have your first therapy appointment today, and that takes a lot of bravery. I’m proud of you. Not all people, especially men, have the courage to do that. Continue making better steps forward, not just for you but also …

I’d leave for the kids and myself. I don't think living in a house where one parent is unhappy and actively cheating will provide a positive environment for the children. Sometimes, two homes are better than one.

Hey now. That’s okay. The way grief works isn’t linear, especially in your case because your history must bear special weight given you have children. As much as I want to tell you to go out there and have some fun, I’d much prefer you to take your time and be easy on yourself. Love will find its way eventually.

I am deeply sorry that you went through this. I, for one, appreciate you for sharing. I hope that venting your feelings out here has somehow lifted the weight you’re carrying. Your story is a testament to how strong and enduring your love is.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Even though I haven’t gone through this myself, I agree as a woman that men's mental health is often overlooked. I genuinely hope you're coping well. Please remember that you are more than welcome to take days off, even if it means simply resting at home and being in touch with your emotions.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
