Adele is the main performer and co-writer of nearly all her songs. When she's on tour people pay money to see her. Who exactly is entitled to her money? Should the producers get a bigger cut? Apple take a little more for selling mp3s? The guy selling $40 t-shirts? The tour crew? Maybe you could make an argument for them.

It's not at all uncommon for kickers to be closer to 180lbs. The biggest women's soccer players are about the same height/weight as several kickers.

A placekicker is the one who kicks field goals, extra points, and kickoffs. Just looking at the top few kickers and punters from last season, they've got an average of one tackle each. For the whole season. Justin Tucker, arguably one of the top kickers in the game, hasn't recorded a single tackle in his 7 year career.

In the 5 major US sports, NFL kicker I'd say is where we're most likely to see a woman make a pro team.

You've wasted a lot of text overlooking the "holding all else equal" line and putting words in my mouth. The point is that these issues are systemic. No rational person will dispute that an individual case may be decided by coin toss. But when the coin lands on heads 98% of the time you've got to start wondering whether something's wrong with the coin.

I'm by no means an expert on the subject, but consider that privilege comes in many forms and several can be working simultaneously. A heterosexual, christian, white, upper-class male is (probably) about as privileged as one gets (in America, at least). When a woman checks 4 of those 5 boxes above holding all else equal and doesn't see a comparable opportunity and/or outcome, you may be looking at male privilege. When a black man checks 4 of those 5 boxes above holding all else equal and doesn't…

This isn't a new concept. People looked the other way when blacks we're lynched, when their frat brother spiked a girl's drink, when a big kid steals a small kid's juice box. Looking the other way is easy. The Gillette ad isn't a condemnation of or insult to men. It's not a radical "feminist" declaring all men are trash. It's a statement of the power you hold to improve the situation of those with less power. Again, if you feel attacked by that, watch it from a different perspective. Take care o…

If you'll re-read the last paragraph of the post you replied to, you'll see that reprehensible behavior is only really changed when the rest of us stop putting up with it. As for the rest of what you wrote... There's a lot to unpack. If that's how you feel then I think you should rewatch the ad with the knowledge that it's not a personal attack on you.

Except it didn't. I've personally witnessed probably all of the scenarios in the ad; parents shrugging off their kid bullying, sexual harassment, cat-calling. It's not a critique of masculinity, it's a critique of toxic masculinity - when being an asshole is excused as "boys being boys". You recognize someone being an asshole, making someone uncomfortable, or hurting them, and you're right to call them out on it. As that person's peer your words carry more weight (to them) than those of the peop…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
