I think if you replaced the word 'man' with 'significant other' it wouldn't be offensive. To be completely honest, I think it's just saying "don't settle because you've been together for a while." I don't think it's being sexist.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few subreddits that operate under these rules of strict bullshit. It's like if I went on /r/skyrim and said something about fallout being a good game and got banned. I'm not hurting anybody by doing so, but they would rather ban me than actually giving a logical explanation of their points. I am not bashing /r/skyrim.

All that remains is that conversation between the captain and his first mate. This could've been avoided, had /u/LAMFF not picked such a dastardly and demeaning insult. It truly shook the heavens when it was typed. Only god knows both where the boat lies, and when /u/LAMFF will utter those words again.
