Let me try to add some much needed nuance to this claim of "b-b-but I see short/ugly men with girlfriends everywhere!" Are there short, below-average looking men with girlfriends? Of course there are. I see them all the time but they're usually Hispanic and/or older, so they probably got hitched before the social media imposed obsession with status became a contagion. Certain tight-knit communities and cultures have customs where the imposed matrix of the "black pill" doesn't apply. Even visitin…

This narrative of "a woman only wants a man that can add value to her life" is a gross oversimplification. In reality, it's a spectrum. The line between "I only want a guy that has emotional intelligence, respects women, has good hygiene, and just has his shit together" (all reasonable expectations btw) and "I want a guy with supermodel looks, a six figure salary, and 4000+ square foot house" ...gets pretty blurry. When a lot of women say they want a man that "adds value" to her life, it is simp…

All the pre-programmed monologues are severely lacking in nuance, but they have a point. These opinions don't just exist in a vacuum, they are constantly reinforced by our own lived experiences. Are there short, below-average looking men with girlfriends? Of course there are. I see them all the time but they're usually Hispanic and/or older. Certain tight-knit communities and cultures have customs where the imposed matrix of the "black pill" doesn't apply. Even visiting a predominantly white con…

It applies to relationships too. Looks get your foot in the door.

Wow, that seems really hard. I'm sorry I doubted you.

You are talking to every single woman aren't you? The ones I'm introduced to through mutuals, yes. And it's not like I have astronomically high looks standards either. Usually you can figure out within the first 10 mins whether it's even worth pursuing based on the vibes they are giving off. A lot of initial conversations I've had are advertising some form of unavailability. Or that unavailability is told to me outside their earshot by one of their friends. I can give you a rough profile of all …

Ok then, how much emotional/mental energy are you expending to put yourself in a position where said guy comes along?

You can redefine the analogy however you want, that's just how I interpreted the poster above you. There's nothing revolutionary or even particularly gendered about the bowl of shit analogy. Everyone has had to wade through some shit in order to find their partner. But even then I think it's a bad analogy, 1) because it's a false dichotomy (nobody is perfect and everyone tolerates a lot of flaws in their partners) and 2) it gives the impression that if men aren't doing well, they must be bad peo…

Romance and sex are optional. They are not critical to human health. Cool, didn't say that they were. Someone who acknowledges they don't need sex or romance to be fulfilled or content isn't necessarily "putting up forcefields" from being hurt. In fact, some have never been deeply hurt but just want to focus on other things in their lives other than romance and/or sex. I know, but these types of people are usually out there living those lives and not posting about having to deal with "men/women'…

If all you are doing is "waiting for the right guy to come along", you are resigning yourself as a passive actor in finding a partner. It's basic ego protection. You have that luxury as a woman; the guy who might come along that's worth investing in does not.

If you put up massive forcefields around yourself because you're afraid of getting screwed over or hurt, I can definitely see why that is the case. But those forcefields still exist for a reason.

I think you are misinterpreting his analogy. The bicycle isn't a potential partner, it's a lifestyle devoid of any romantic/sexual partner. If women are indeed "the choosers", then they get to choose that lifestyle without the added mental stress of having a chemical inside them constantly telling them to fuck. She can change her mind at any time at her leisure And since there's always at least one user who wants to interpret that observation in the least charitable way, I'll caveat: no, I am no…

When women on here say stuff like "I don't want a guy that treats me like a mommy-mcbangmaid" or "I only want a guy that adds value to my life" I'm like... okay? Yeah, obviously no one wants a partner that treats them like shit and adds value. Despite the utter banality of those statements, it's no skin off my back or the other men I know (in real life, not online spaces) that are struggling. Being a basic functioning adult isn't exactly a huge ask for me or my peers. Their lack of success isn't…

I live in a similarly sized American metropolitan area on the west coast. Same shit as u/xzpw. I go to festivals, bar, clubs, all the places these supposed "grass-touching" people say single women are in abundance. They are very much not, at least not after COVID. Women are there, but they're usually with their boyfriends. I even have friends that are women that have remarked the same thing. 75% of their mutual female friends are already in relationships, and the other 25% are either single for …

If these and other mating-statistics teach us anything it is that women do not like to be treated like items on a McDonald's menu, selected by the pictures alone. It's more the opposite given the gender ratios and the power dynamic that comes attached to it. Men are the consumable product. Women are the customers.

You do realize there is no "men", right? The "(collective) men" has no influence on an individual man's actions.

You didn't answer my question. Do you see anyone on here arguing that it's OK for men to post revenge porn or dox women's dating profiles?

Because women are fallible. Even if only a tiny % of women are using the groups beyond the scope of just "catching the bad ones" there's no way to verify what the woman is saying is actually true. On the spectrum of "validating experiences" vs "objective truth finding" where do you think these groups lie?

Before he got laid off in the recent wave of downsizing in the tech sector, he was making around 200K + options (which does put him above the top 1% for men his age). He's 5'6" and Korean American. Facially, he's actually a really attractive dude. Could be a Kpop model if I showed you his picture. He also lives in the Bay Area which is known for being a rough dating market.

I know a short muscular dude who's in the top 1% of earners. He still struggles. Hasn't had a girlfriend since high school.

Are conventionally unattractive guys kinder, more loyal, more appreciative, and better providers and protectors? Not necessarily. But the conventional attractive guys who are kind, loyal, appreciative, and good providers/protectors are already in relationships while the, how shall we say, "fuckboy chads" are the ones on the apps doing most of the damage. Selection bias and all that.

Now he comes to me for dating advice, I actually think teaching young boys that they have to work on themselves. Develop their bodies, their skills, to have drive and accomplish things is a good lesson to teach them young and that not doing so leaves you at risk of falling below the cut and just finding mean girls every where you go. What age you start puberty, how long it lasts, and how much it influences your development are all still deterministic factors that decide whether or not you fall b…
