For the beginner, I'd say you're spot on about the maiiard from the cast iron. That's an essential cooking skill and goes way beyond steak. The steak is seared in a cast iron pan on all sides with oil and salt. Potato can be baked in the microwave. 4	Observations on Eliminating artificial sugar from Diet. I agree with you that removing sugar from your diet is a good thing. I have to comment as a brewer. Good craft brews won't contain added or processed sugars. Yeah beer still contains natural sugar and tons of carbs (it's like liquid bread) but if you're removing the artificial and processed kind, you're ok having a beer here and there. Going to movies, live theater, or light activity (carnival, mini golf, etc.) puts too many distractions into the date. You aren't really getting to know someone.
