As has been mentioned on here a few times, UK girls are notoriously difficult to open at the best of times. The same opener used in another country, could have very different results and a lot more success.

I'm late 40's and consider myself a beginner at all this, suffer with bad approach anxiety and am having to work all this out myself. Nevertheless, I'm in the best shape of my life, both physically and mentally. Do I feel old? No! Age is just a number. It's how you feel that counts.

Bearing in mind that you've previously mentioned about the difficulties of cold approaching in the UK (and rightly so) , how do you think that your friends have more success? Is it down to looks, confidence or are they just naturals?

In the UK it's the culture that prevents the forming of the deep, emotional and close connection. People, and especially women, are a lot more guarded there.

I know what you mean and agree. Also I think online dating and other ways of meeting people off the Internet (e.g. meetup) have also made cold approaching difficult to get results. When I was a regular in pubs and clubs back in the late 80's / early 90's unless you worked somewhere with women or had women in a social circle, approaches in bars were really the only option.

I've mentioned before that any examples of gaming in the UK, whether it be an article like the above or an infield video, are nearly always set in London. London isn't a true reflection of life in the rest of the UK, probably due to the amount of overseas visitors there, and from personal experience, it's even harder to get results in the other cities. Even in the northern cities, where people are supposed to be friendlier, I've found it difficult to cold approach girls, without receiving an att…

I can safely say that none of the above has ever happened to me.

Johnny Berba, although these days he seems to distance himself from pick up.

Glad I saw this. It's something I do every so often and despite knowing it's of no help to me and is counter productive, I still do it. Makes sense to compare myself with me, if only to see the improvements I've made, and not with other people and something I can't do anything about.

Don't know if it's any help, but I asked a similar question here. (https://www.reddit.com/r/seduction/comments/56xq4c/advice_for_a_47_year_old_beginner/)

At least you're putting yourself out there instead of just sat reading the theory. Tomorrow is a new day and will be easier. I'm at the same stage as you.

Thanks mate. Admittedly I can't be certain that I'm not being checked out, but if I am It's highly subtle or behind my back and definitely not as obvious as the OP experiences. I make eye contact with women that I pass, but rarely get anything back worth mentioning. Usually avoidance or look down / to the side. It's not like I make it a long stare either.

Being in my 40's, I have to be careful that I dress realistically according to my age and not someone who is 20 years younger. In my case I go smart casual. I sought the advice of a stylist a few years ago and found that my choice of clothes were pretty much spot on in relation to my age and body shape etc. However despite this, and that I'm in good shape, I don't get women checking me out.

I also struggle with conversations with strangers. Regarding observations, is there a way of getting good at this? A lot of the time I find there's nothing obvious that stands out or I think of something that I could have said long after the moment has passed.

I can relate to this. I was born and lived in the UK for over 30 years, and when I watch some of the American infield videos, I struggle to see how some of the techniques used would work on British girls. I'm interested to watch the UK infield videos, but nearly all of these are filmed in the "touristy" areas of London, where you've probably more chance of meeting an overseas girl than a local one. Not saying it wouldn't work, but I'd be interested to see how some of the same techniques would go…

If there's one area I nailed early on in my self-improvement, it's my dress sense. I've also had this confirmed by other people and a stylist, so it's not just my own opinion. Also a lot of guys (of all ages) where I live tend not to give a fuck what they wear, and look generally scuffy.

Cool. Hope things go ok. Lots of good advice so far.

I looked into doing improv, but there is nothing available where I live. However I have very recently started attending a Toastmasters group with the hope that it will have the same effect with my communication skills. Although it's early days, I can see the potential for this to happen.

Glad you mentioned the mall, as that was one of the places I was thinking of! Other places I was considering were the park (whilst walking the dog), cafe and supermarket, subject to overcoming the AA. I don't drink anymore, so I rarely go to pubs and bars. Do you have any age-appropriate suggestions for places to do daygame?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
