Either you don't recognize how you've been conditioned by being raised by a single mother or you're a miracle. Looking back, that shit nearly destroyed me. TRP is truly a blessing to the men of our generation that seek it

Awesome post. I plan on traveling to India next summer. This reminds me when i brought up the possibility of attending med school to my family 4 years ago...was met with hostility and doubt through the whole journey. Fuck 'em. I start in two weeks. The ones you love the most (or have the perception of "loving" you- aka that unconditional fantasy beta mother-son connection) are the ones who most often hold you back.

Spot on man. Right now I'm in monk mode, bettering myself in every way possible. Even if I were to never have a relationship, fling, or whatever with another woman again and completely went MGTOW, I'd still end up having a fulfilling life. I was just discussing this with a friend yesterday. Life is full of way too much interesting shit to be ignorant of. I constantly feel pressured to do as much as I can now and I think that's because I've never valued my time so much. I have a cousin that would…

damn, that poor guy. Sometimes I think about my situation and become angry, but it's absolutely nothing compared to the emotional, financial, physical, and mental investments these husbands and fathers have made. Each time I read a story like this, I can picture an entire life I would've lived. And you know what? I would have ended up in the same position. Since opening my eyes, I can't help but notice now how fucking unhappy married couples are. I have some married friends from college that sit…

After recently discovering TRP myself for very similar reasons as you have, the thing that amazes me the most is AWALT. I can't help but see it everywhere. In my family, trips to the grocery store, examining friends' relationships...hypergamy is the law. It's been eye-opening to say the least.

The biggest step I took in accepting TRP philosophy was overcoming my previous beliefs about my mother (and all the women in my family in general). Growing up, I was shamed for anything masculine and taught to worship her. I never realized the psychological effects of being raised by a single mother had on me, and I've been working relentlessly to undo them. That was by far the hardest part to swallow. My mother had me convinced that she was a queen when in reality, she whored around with a ton …

Sure. I realize I didn't go into that situation much because the post was getting long and I was getting tired of typing haha. Basically, my fiancee and I had been engaged for 8 months or so. We were due to get married this summer but as the date got closer, she began having a nervous breakdown. At first, I thought it was just the jitters or something and I completely ignored every red flag possible. She called off the wedding and I was left in a stunned state, confused, bewildered. I knew deep …

Exactly. The biggest hurdle I had to overcome was understanding that I am not responsible for my mother's or father's emotional well-being. I had been conditioned, much like my beta step-father, to worship the women in my family and was shamed when I would depart from that "norm". While I can see that my mother's behavior is the result of her abusive and conditioned upbringing as well, the only reasonable way out for me was to physically remove myself from the toxic environment. For example, a c…

Thanks man, this means a lot to me. It took me a long time to come to the realization that the majority of my family are parasites. The manipulation runs deep in my family. I'm the first individual to not get married or have a child before the age of 20 going back three generations. I've been shamed my entire life for the decisions I've made (going to college instead of getting married and having a child, etc) and I thank the fucking stars that my genetics, education, and conditions lined up for…

Don't know why I'm taking the time to respond to your comment, but I suppose it's interesting that your one conclusion from my experiences is that I'm narcissistic. Forgive me, but I will continue to follow the recommendations of a therapist over an anonymous poster's view. For three years I delayed higher education to support my fiancee, denying myself personal growth and career development. Because that's what a "man" does, he sacrifices for the greater good. I've been doing the same for my pa…

I hear you. I wrote this post mainly out of the frustrations of what I've been through and from swallowing the pill. None of this represents a fraction of the shit my parents have put me through. I don't owe them anything and my current decision for no contact is for me to personally break the emotional and psychological dependence they have so successfully created. No contact currently, however, does not mean no contact forever. I'm starting med school in 3 weeks and I'll be damned sure I'm goi…
