Well I just looked again and there are studies on this… and obviously if you choose the right man it won’t be an issue but it I do think it’s something for us to be aware of. For example, in a large U.S. population-based study of married adults, husbands were more likely to report sexual infidelity when their wives were pregnant, even after adjusting for factors like marital dissatisfaction; pregnancy also amplified the effect of dissatisfaction on men’s cheating risk. study Also when I was sing…

I don’t know what I would do. Have the baby and hope we get married later. We live together but I still have my place through November. I have shared my feelings and he reassures me he wants marriage too but has not put any concrete action into place except meeting with this family lawyer and I don’t know what happened from that meeting. We found out a month ago I was pregnant. We had been talking about marriage for months. I thought he was going to propose already and hasn’t. And now when I nee…

We were talking about marriage before the pregnancy. It doesn’t matter as much to him to be married before a baby. He does say and has always said he wants marriage and then since we became more serious he has said he wants marriage with me. Maybe he is working on the prenup now. He does have a complicated family business and had a previous nasty divorce/custody fight. It has been hard to be patient. I thought he might propose in April or July…

No infidelity issues. Ex developed some mental illness and identity crisis which has been validated by other people and I’ve met her… I just wasn’t sure if there is anything I can do to help move it along…

He has said from day one he wants to be married again and has always said this. He’s talked about rings with me for months etc. so I’m just confused what is taking so long… Yes he has his own house and is very established. There would have to be a prenup.

Thank you. I tried to share how I felt and it didn’t help much it seems. It’s just confusing on why he hasn’t yet..

It was an unplanned pregnancy. We were both aware of the risks. I don’t resent him for this. Yes, he has told me for months, told his family told his friends and sometimes in front of me that he wants to marry me. Regardless of the pregnancy we have been talking about marriage and I thought he was going to propose a few times but it hasn’t happened. He’s 39, been married and has a child of his own from that marriage. He wanted more kids and is excited.

Yes, and I think this is so fun to do with your partner.

Okay well if it has gotten worse that’s not good. Maybe you could ask him “I’m curious how you feel sex is going and is there something you’d like to do..etc” Learning about his libido could be part of vetting but also know that libido changes over months and years etc. Are there things you enjoy sexually with him that you’ve done? Maybe you could say you were thinking about it and wanting to do it again etc. then see what he does. It does take time to vet especially if you wait to have sex. I c…

How long have you been together? If the relationship is important to you, try all that you can to make it work. Figure this out and don’t do anything more with your coworker. That is not the solution. The solution may include looking at yourself and how you are contributing to the sex life problem. Communicating about sex and wants/wishes is healthy and you will have to do that in a long term relationship. I got a divorce from a sexless marriage and it was important for me to look at myself and …

Very good points. He does bust his ass for himself but not for me. The lack of initiative for visits hurts me. He still wants to talk everyday though. 🙄😢

Yes. I went no contact with him when we broke up and he made it 16 days and was crying saying how do you know when you love someone etc. Now he has me back where he wants me. At arms length with him in control. Maybe he needs to work on attachment more because you’re right it seems like this cycle wouldn’t stop?

Thank you for your comment! I do get triggered still because the lack of plans and uncertainty makes me feel so unstable. I probably wouldn’t be attracted to this if we first met again. He is my dream man except this stuff :( I am so attracted to him so I probably need to work on why. I have tried to be unattracted to his behavior but I am under a spell and can’t seem to let go.

He said he was going to work on his avoidant attachment style issues when we got back and that he missed me. You’re right I am getting less except the attachment issues are better. The lack of making plans makes me feel very rejected.

Wow this is such helpful advice. I appreciate it so much. I can work on myself to be deserving of commitment. The boundary I wanted to hold was that it is not emotionally healthy for me to be in a long distance relationship and not know when we will see each other again. I need to have some general idea (like every three weeks) or I need to keep my options open and date other people. We talked and I am going to “keep my options open”. The quote you shared is really helpful. I do respect him and …

I have done work on mine and I’m in therapy. I am pretty secure but I get super triggered around the lack of scheduling visits because of the long distance. When we say bye it’s like I don’t know if I’ll ever see him again and I feel rejected because he isn’t scheduling the time. He is aware he is avoidant and was looking into therapy and didn’t end up going. Watched some videos and is getting better about communicating what is going on for him. Good point. I think we could both do more work. He…
