The incoherent people are those who rather silence someone for having a different opinion than discuss/argue/counteract their points like an intellectual adult. And yet, here you are, providing nothing of substance and whining instead of actually trying to discuss the issues at hand. My impression was that this subreddit does exist to discuss/argue why TRP is or isn’t flawed (and it most certainly is). That’s evident in the sorts of discussions that regularly go on here.

The woman could always go off and live with her parents So can men? What’s this “woe-is-me” attitude all about? Modern women get too mouthy too easily If you think this is a problem exclusive to women then you’re kidding yourself. This criticism absolutely goes both ways. plus the issues of fatherless children are far far worse. Huh, I grew up without my dad for a number of years and I think I’m doing pretty good for myself. My partner, on the other hand, was driven to suicide attempts during hi…

Yeah, sorry, but I don’t believe you. I am working towards a useless humanities PhD No one working on a PhD would call their degree “useless.” I know how to assess my own biases If you’re claiming to be immune to them, then you don’t know how to assess them at all. My n count is over 800. Sure it is. All women are the same, they killed the idea of sex being connected to love so they can monkey branch I only have to point to one example to the contrary to disprove this claim. And I can do that. I…

What does this have to do with what we were talking about? Even if this were true (which I seriously doubt, for the record), it doesn’t make you any more credible. Someone can be well-travelled and still be ignorant about certain topics. AWalt Nonsense.

Go to any feminist forums and tell them you’re ‘choosing’ to have a traditional marriage. See how many of them are ‘ok’ with your choice. I have, actually. I regularly participate in /r/AskFeminism and I’ve shared my stance multiple times when relevant. I’ve never been met with criticism and I usually net a fair amount of karma...

Criticizing traditional marriage as oppressive is not the same as wanting to demonize the idea of a long-term commitment. Marriage is an extremely old tradition. A lot of the rituals that are typically practiced during a ceremony have roots in cultures that viewed women as property to be passed between men. There’s no getting around that, and it’s right to criticize those practices for what they represent I personally still plan to get married to my partner once our finances are in order. I’m ve…

It is now clear you refuse to listen to argument and debate for the sake of not losing You’re kidding right? Throughout this entire thing I’ve been conceding points to you, apologizing for my mistakes, and trying to reach a common understanding. Acknowledging outliers are fine and dandy but as the name suggests, they are OUTLIERS. Yes, but they still exist, and they’re relevant in this context. People like to discount outliers all the time as if they don’t have any utility, but they most certainly do when it comes to dating. Relationships happen on an individual level. When you’re in a relationship with someone, all of the statistics in the world aren’t going to tell you how things will shake out with this one person. It’s really a misu…

Let me put it this way. OP’s argument was that high body counts are an indication of someone being ill-suited for an LTR. While I mostly agree that there is a correlation, it’s important to realize that there are indeed outliers. Namely, there are polyamorous individuals who maintain long-term commitments with one another while also having sex with other individuals. They are extremely rare, this is true, but they exist all the same. And acknowledging this is relevant to OP’s statement. Your arg…

What are you talking about? You cannot forestall jealous when the relationship is open to many. This is common sense. Nor can it in a monogamous relationship any better. You are getting too hung up on particular words rather than trying to understand the wider point I’m making. I am an imperfect communicator as are you. Please bear with me here... Unlike monogamy, in polygamous relationships, feelings are fickle. Not necessarily. If you supply your auxiliary partners will more attention that you…

Arguably not. I think the concept is hugs and kisses and skin contact, but you can not want those things and be high libido. This gets discussed at /r/dead bedrooms. Arguably indeed! Still, it makes sense to me that it falls under physical touch (or maybe “quality time”? It could be a hybrid?). I will concede that I don’t think it’s the only expression of the physical touch love language. Would you agree that just because someone’s love language is physical touch doesn’t mean they like being tou…

I’ve taken it multiple times with many years in between, and I’ve gotten the same result every time. It’s considered pseudoscience mostly because the information is self-reported. This means that you can basically bias yourself and just pick the result you want even if it doesn’t reflect you. Every time I’ve taken it, I spend a long time on it, and I mull on each question for quite a while when deciding if it truly reflects my personality. I think this strategy is what offsets a lot of its flaws

Sex probably isn’t a Chapman love language. ...wouldn’t it fall under “physical touch”? Low n-count can be viewed as bad at sex and thus bad relationship prospects. I see what you mean. Thank you. Now that I understand, I still do not think this is related to “sex isn’t love.” Unlike the “sex is love” scenario, these two qualities seem sparsely related (or even in opposition to one another). If your philosophy is that sex isn’t love, then why would it matter how experienced your partner is? It s…

Jealousy in monogamous relationship is one of the factors that helps prevent the deterioration of the relationship. It signifies the want for the other spouse. It helps prevent complacency. Now yes, excessive jealousy is bad. No denying that. Yes, this is what I meant when I said “it can be staved off” (so your assertion that it’s a myth doesn’t make sense). In this case, I would argue that jealousy has the exact same role in a polyamorous relationship. I fail to see how this is something partic…

Do you think the jealousy or distaste one group here expresses over high N-count is due to their own belief that sex is love? I think this one might check out. I’m not sure about the other one. I can understand how one may come to this belief. It’s much more hazy for the other statement. I might need you to give an example of “someone who dislikes people with low n-count and doesn’t see sex as a love language.” I’m not sure how n-count is related in this case. Also, but I don’t think this works …

Sex is a means through which love is expressed for certain individuals. It is not love in itself. Should people disclose to each other as to whether sex is love or sex is not love for themselves, before embarking on a sexual relationship together? Of course. It’s important to know where a partner stands and what makes them feel validated.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/20 10:42 AM
3

Sure, but I think jealousy can be staved off given the right people and the right attitudes. Also, jealousy still exists in monogamous relationships. It still takes work, people cheat and fall out of love, etc. I don’t think “jealousy therefore monogamy” is a valid conclusion to draw. Also, I said polyamory, which is different to polygamy. What do you think about swingers or couples that participate in threesomes? These people may have a high body count but still function well in an LTR
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/20 10:37 AM

Please elaborate. I agree that they do generally fail (emphasis on generally), but I do not agree that this is due to some inherent characteristics of human nature. What characteristics are you taking about here?

While there may be a correlation between high body counts and dissatisfaction in LTRs, I I don’t think that link is causative. I think you hit the nail on the head when you say that people with high body counts may not be the type of person to succeed in an LTR (assuming monogamy is implied). But one caveat is that LTRs that are polyamorous do exist. And in this case I think an LTR could work. It also sort of depends on how high we’re talking here. I had a handful of sexual relationships in the …

Shitty people are always going to exist in droves from both sexes. But there are plenty of people out there who are just trying their best as well. They shouldn’t be discounted. I’m a woman, and before I met my partner I got messed around a lot. Men would lie to my face about how they felt towards me just to take advantage of my desire to believe them. All I wanted was to feel loved. It really fucked me up and I spent many nights crying myself to sleep. I thought it would never end. And then I m…

There is no point in being into small women (if you aren’t small). Their height is an inconvience. Maybe to you, but, news flash, not everyone likes the same things you do. Shocking, right? Attraction doesn’t need to “make sense” to exist. Not sure where you got that idea

It’s been argued that women overvalue themselves aesthetically due to their hypergamy Nonsense. When I’m looking for a partner, I’m looking for what I want. I’m not playing some weird game where I rate myself against them arbitrarily. How I look has absolutely nothing to do with my preferences, and these preferences are with me regardless of how my appearance may fluctuate. To suggest otherwise is absurd. This misses the forest from the trees. It’s not a “makes me experience a wide range of emotions” that’s attractive. It’s authenticity. It’s someone who isn’t afraid to be themselves, and that means not being afraid of occasional disagreement. My partner is genuinely one of the most compassionate people I’ve ever met, but he’s not afraid to be himself. After 3 years of living together, of course he’s made me feel a wide range of emotions as would any person I spend an extended amount of time with…

Pretty much. That being said, blue pill is a pretty broad term because it essentially means “everyone who is not redpilled.” That means it includes a pretty wide variety of different ideas and mentalities. That being said, there’s not really a consistent bluepilled ideology for dating in the way that there is for redpill. I could call myself bluepilled, but all that really means is that I think TRP is bullshit. I do have my own philosophy when it comes to dating, but it’s sort of something I cam…

Agreed! I think it’s important to acknowledge that both sexes are susceptible to this sort of thinking. TRP seems to think that women are incapable of understanding how men feel, but this simply isn’t true. Being able to empathize with the opposite sex is essential if you want to form a healthy heterosexual relationship, and TRP discourages it vehemently. My partner went through similar feelings to me before we met. He internalized his experiences like I did rather than externalizing it (he felt…

Right. I understand why they feel the way they do. Before I had found my partner, I had similar misconceptions that I had come to through bad experiences (they were more internalized than externalized, however). I think I understand the point you’re making (and if I do, then I agree with it). The ambiguity of the word “love” really gets in the way of this discussion. Regardless, I have no evidence that suggests to me that men and women are only capable of certain forms of love. I think anyone is capable of feeling all types of love regardless of gender. Perhaps certain types are associated with each gender through of socialization and hormones, but that’s about as far as it goes. Within this context, at…

Fair enough. I guess that wasn’t a particularly good justification. I still think it’s pretty difficult to justify that women would be capable of loving children and family but not “men”. I’m not sure how one could even come to that conclusion, so it’s hard to know how to counter it. I know for certain that the claim is untrue. I’m a woman, and I have firsthand experience that contradicts it. But I have no idea how I’m expected to justify it to someone who isn’t convinced if they aren’t willing …

My boyfriend and I have been together for 3.5 years, and we’ve lived together for almost 3 years. I would say that I’m quite content with our relationship. We divvy up our responsibilities in a way that’s fair, and we try to make sure one another feel fulfilled and validated. Oh so you’re telling me that is normal for a woman (or any person) to not have any other interest other than gossip and drama? That would be very abnormal. I’ve never met such a person (I’ve met people who gossip and have drama, but they always have other interests as well). I’m not entirely sure a person like this exists, but even if they did I would pity them. I would not think of them as less of a woman. I never said there wasn’t a genetic element to sexual preferences. I’m saying that genetics is not the only thing that influences sexual preferences. Hormonal and environmental factors also play a role in sexual preference. You’re saying it must be genetic that you like bad boys, but I’m wondering how you made that determination? I don’t know what causes it (though I can guess), and I never claimed to know. You are the one who made the claim that it’s genetic. But you still haven’t said why you …

Humans have instincts, but not all humans have the same instincts? Don’t we? I mean, if something is a human instinct it means that it’s inherent to all humans just by its definition (unless that person has some sort of severe genetic mutation, but these are extreme outliers). For example, it’s an instinct to sneeze when something tickles your nose. It’s an instinct to salivate when you smell food. Not all human behaviors are instinctive, and I don’t think the preference of bad boys is one of th…

I understand it’s how you experience attraction. That’s all fine and dandy and I don’t have a problem with it at all. I do have a problem with you saying that it’s part of women’s “biological wiring” that explains this, and that is not something you can justify. I suggest you do whatever it is that you’re good at. Lean on your strengths (your sense of humor, your intelligence, your physique, etc) and be proud of the interests and qualities that make you unique. This is what it means to be confident. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Don’t follow some silly set of rules that are inconsistent with who you are. I think it’s because we are biologically wired to get with the strongest, most confident men. For women’s safety and later on also the kids. Being safe and having stronger, smarter kids is better for survival of the species (and your own genes). Just like a lot of men are so attracted to hips, boobs,... biologically they show fertility. I don’t like this concept of “real women”. Belittling women who are different from you in this way is kind of cruel honestly. I have plenty of friends who are openly promiscuous and who take pride in the work they put into their appearance. They aren’t any less of a woman to me. They just have different priorities, and that’s fine. Women aren’t part of some prestigious and exclusive club. We’re just a group of people with certain traits in common. Yeah, this is generally a good principle to apply to dealing with anyone (although I think you should listen to both people’s and their actions, but make note of when they don’t align. That’s just me though). Applying this to only women is strange when it works just as well when dealing with men.

I think you said it better than I could have. At the end of the day, different strategies work for different people to attract different individuals. Most of us at our age (assuming you’re around my age) are still pretty immature. It’s most definitely a combination of the two. Of course there are certain traits that are generally more desirable (emphasis on generally), and having these qualities is going to swing the odds of finding someone in your favor. One of the first questions I ask myself when evaluating the validity of a claim is “does this claim make more sense than it would if I flipped it on its head?” It may seem a bit counterintuitive, but it’s amazing how many inconsistencies come to light when evaluating discussions in this way (particularly discussions about sex and gender where BS judgement statements are rampant). It’s been a very helpful tool for me to better analyze these sorts of conversations

I think one could very easily flip the notion that “women are forces of chaos” on its head. One could argue that men are forces of chaos given that they are statistically more violent and therefore less predictable, and by nature love to create drama and conflict. In other words, I think both are bullshit. If you can so easily flip a premise like that, then it doesn’t have a very good basis Edit to remove redundancies

Agreed. The other conclusion to draw from this reality is that one crazy woman is not representative of the entire female sex (this should honestly go without saying imo but apparently it needs to be said). I can only speak for myself, but I’ve personally never seen that sentiment. Usually when I see people saying they’ve tried X Y or Z, the comments are mostly people explaining why X didn’t work or how they could do Y differently. Or even suggesting they do some other thing that wasn’t mentioned. I’ve never seen anyone outright claim the OP is lying, but I won’t claim that it never happens. That being said, stupid people say stupid things sometimes. Not sure why we all should be held accountable f…

So far in my experience no girl likes a deep thinker or sensitive dude Really? That’s odd, because I like mine. And those traits are part of the reason why I like him. I say this because that’s the strategy that has worked for me Different strategies work for different people and attract different individuals do you guys really think men are not trying Not at all? Evidently, men are trying. What would make you think we would think otherwise?

It’s a common trap that people (particularly men, but not exclusively) fall into. Human beings have emotional needs as well as physical ones. A lot of people shrug them off and neglect fulfilling them. Part of it is probably because of how stigmatized it is to show vulnerability (particularly for men). Sure, being emotionally strong can be a positive trait, but neglecting your emotional needs is a facade that will lead to mental illness and all of the vices that come with it. And I agree that it…

It’s a textbook example of an ad hominem. The characteristics of the individual making the argument has no bearing on whether or not what they say is true

Are you a woman btw? If so, I wouldn’t be surprised as I feel as though this is a slightly biased answer. One could just as easily turn this back on you. Your statements reflect your biases as well. It’s not a good argument. It doesn’t honestly address the points they made, and it only detracts from any stronger points you may make

Very wise. I’m glad you’ve come around. Love is a wonderful experience that’s part of being human. There’s nothing weak about it. By writing it off as weak, you are depriving yourself of otherwise fulfilling experiences

Straw man arguments. They are not. And yelling out a fallacy doesn’t make your argument any less shoddy. I pointed out that they aren’t making ANY at all, despite the core market. Really? None at all? You can’t think of a single game from the last console generation (because, let’s face it, it’s too early to speculate about the new one) that fit your aesthetic? I find that incredibly hard to believe. You are making up false arguments because you can’t argue against making a game for the fans, ra…

Except they clearly are taking them away, in fact, they’re almost completely gone. Equating developers not making exclusively games with sexualized female leads with them “taking them away” is a hysterical position to hold. You’re saying that developers not making the same games over and over again is akin to them oppressing you. And if you actually believe that, then I have no interest in arguing this point further because you’re already too far gone
/r/AntiFeminists14/06/20 01:04 AM

But I pay for them? Should I be excluded because you think I was born with the wrong genitals? There is room for both. This is a ridiculous argument to say that we can’t. There are plenty of sexualized female characters already. No one is taking them away
/r/AntiFeminists13/06/20 03:51 PM
1

Okay. I didn’t see those comments. I’ll just take your word for it The views against developers putting sexualized female characters in games mostly played by guys, is absolutely pervasive in feminism. You’d have to be delusional to think otherwise. Isn’t there room for both? That’s kind of the point I’ve been trying to make. Like, the majority of games heavily market towards men. People aren’t taking those games away. They still exist and you can play them. But why not explore other ideas too? …

Was anyone in your thread making that argument? I don’t really care that you can find kooks who say crazy shit on the internet. You can find someone saying just about anything on the internet. It doesn’t mean that view is pervasive. People who want to “destroy the gaming industry” or whatever have no legitimate means to do so. I choose to ignore them. They’re not important to me

I respond to mainline feminist arguments about the issue, not just yours specifically. These are not “mainline feminist arguments.” The argument I’m making is the mainline feminist argument. That’s what I’m saying. I’ve never heard anyone make the arguments you’re attributing to feminists, and I frequent that subreddit often. Well idk who you’re talking about. I went back to that thread just to check and no one in that thread made those arguments either from what I read. These “feminists in general” seem to actually be outliers if they exist at all. Most of the feminists I’ve known are sex-positive (myself included), and the arguments you’re presenting doesn’t really jive with that. Regardless, I cannot refute obviously bad arguments, so we’re at an impasse here.

You’re responding to arguments that I didn’t make, so I don’t really see any way forward here Maybe next time instead of accusing people of believing things they don’t believe, you should just ask them what they believe and counter that. I wasn’t planning on continuing the discussion, but I’ll bite since this is a topic I have a lot of interest in I agree with all of this pretty much. It’s the answer I would have given. I asked because not everyone considers the sociological component of it. They go straight to biological determinism and stop there. Standoffish means distant and cold. I don’t know where you grew up, but I’ve had plenty of friends whose parents were just relaxed. My best friend growing up had very little restrictions placed on her in high school. She was basically allowed to go wherever she wanted provided she had a means to get there. I actually don’t believe it happened less in prior generations. In fact, I think people actually are more free to be themselves today than in the past (this is speculation though based on a lot of things, but speculation all the same). As far as why, I mean, I think a big part of childhood development is being told to live inauthenticly. For the first 10-15 years of your life you are almost entirely at the mercy of authority figures to decide what you should and shouldn’t be. To some extent it’s…

Premarital sex has existed long before birth control. The only difference between then and now is that then it would destroy your life unnecessarily. Young women aren’t naturally attracted to shitty people. As I said, finding someone who is compatible with you is a learning experience. Making mistakes is a part of that process for everyone. Not necessarily not knowing. Rather, I think it’s good to communicate in a relationship and be able to talk about your past with someone you trust. I actually think it’s junk because the man I’m dating is the opposite of what redpill says I should want in every conceivable way. Redpill predicted absolutely nothing about my relationship, so I don’t see why any of it should be considered valid. That’s why I think it’s junk. You don’t have to psycho-analyze me to figure it out. I’ll just tell you straight up

If you’re talking about over-analyzing things, then yeah. I often tell my SO that I wish he’d talk more about how he feels. It helps take the edge off for me especially early on in a relationship. But I’m not going to get inside my own head and start over-analyzing everything he says (or doesn’t say) and try to figure out what it means. You’re a fool. I can’t understand why women generally believe men when men tell us what they like, but then there are guys like you who think women are just lying about what we care about and what we find pleasurable. My SO doesn’t do that shit. He believes me when I tell him straight up what’s important to me. That’s just one of the things I like about him

Feminism is an idea. It existed before advocacy. It’s not necessarily tied to having time to do anything. Society can hide feminism from in self by giving people less time to do things, but that doesn’t make it go away. It’s still there

What? No. Where did you get that idea?

I don’t particularly care what many women do. I’m not going to argue how many women believe a certain thing with you. This is a boring conversation and completely irrelevant to my point, which you and this other guy seem happy to ignore

What the hell are you talking about? otherwise they all use incel/virgin with blatant indiscretion. I never shame people for being virgins. I literally just said I believe it’s sexist. Sometimes I really just think we should all just be friends with benefits and make sex and other activities like it normalized for people who just want a good time I mean, that’s kind of where society has been heading. There have been quite a few sex-positive movements in the past few decades. That being said, I don’t think that getting rid of monogamy entirely is viable. There are always going to be people who seek long-term commitments. I think we should be more permissive of people expressing…

In the US, auto insurance is required by the government in order to own a car, but privately run. Actually, a lot of institutions in the US are run like this (prison jumps to mind, many of which are privately owned) and it results in an absolute shit show where the privately owned company begins to extort its customers (who are legally obligated to pay for it). A lot of things determine skin color. Like, tanning. Jokes aside, two people can have the same skin color and be extremely distantly related, so categorizing them as the same in some way on the basis of skin color is inaccurate.

That’s pretty much what I’m saying. If the MRM spent just half the time they spend whining about manipulative women actually advocating for and funding research into male contraceptives, they wouldn’t need to whine about manipulative women anymore. What feminists and the MRM actually agree upon is that society puts almost all reproductive responsibility (and consequently reproductive power) onto women. I was on birth control long before I got into a relationship and actually long before I started being sexually active at all. When I became sexually active, I just gained another benefit of the pill.

I’ve had conventionally attractive guys stare at me in a way that made me uncomfortable. One time I walked into a car repair place to get my tires changed and there was a guy looking out the window. As I walked in, I heard him physically turn in his chair to stare at me as I walked to the counter. This guy was pretty attractive, but the effort he put into making me aware that he was staring at me made me extremely uncomfortable. It doesn’t have much to do with appearance

I don’t understand what this means

That’s assuming that the current trends will hold true well into the future and that nothing will impact those trends until then

Low testosterone is a symptom of stress and other environmental factors The problem is stress. Not testosterone. Your body responding to your environment by altering its chemistry is completely natural. If low testosterone is really concerning to you, then deal with what’s causing it.

I mean the holding out for sex aspect. Sorry for the confusion. Yeah, I agree that women tend to take a more passive role in dating and it’s shitty. I used to be like that until I realized it made dates awful. I asked my SO what he wanted to do, he said he didn’t know, and I said “then bowling it is.”

Honestly it’s the better mindset to have imo. When meeting new people the first thing you should do is make sure they’re not going to murder you when you go home with them. If you’re smitten from the get-go then it’s going to be harder for you to notice red flags. Women are much better about this (for what I hope are obvious reasons), but I think men serve to gain a lot from doing something similar Edit; replace “murder” with “false rape accusation” or whatever your poison is

My SO (who was a virgin before we met, mind you) and I went on 3 or 4 dates before we had sex, and there was absolutely no pressure leading up to it. He’s since told me that he went into that first date thinking “I’m not going to think about getting laid. I don’t care if I don’t have sex. All I want is to have a good time getting to know someone new.” And that mindset definitely showed

Prolonging sex worked best for me. If a guy can go on a few dates with me without either getting visibly pissed off or trying to pressure me into sex, then I’m pretty confident he’s not being a snake. Guys that are just trying to get laid generally have a very short fuse

Uh huh. And this increase in numbers can’t possibly be from victims being more willing to report because of the change in stigmas. Is that what you’re saying?

High rape statistics in Sweden has nothing to do with refugees. It has to do with the high rate of reporting in Sweden as well as them having broader definitions of rape than in the U.S.

The only simple observation is that you are blowing things way out of proportion. One powerless group in Sweden advocates for open borders. So what? You’re extrapolating this to be something to do with female biology? That doesn’t make sense

It’s because there are fewer people on the internet in general in those months. And fewer students doing research on feminism during summer vacation. It’s really not that bizarre

Totally. The man I’m currently in a relationship with was a virgin before we met. The first time we had sex was the best sexual experience I’d had up until that point, even in comparison to more “experienced” men. I legitimately thought he wasn’t a virgin until he told me after the fact

No it’s not

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
