Struggling with anger todayI learnt that I can’t share my situation, which is similar to yours, with people who haven’t experienced anything like it themselves. They can’t relate or understand so don’t look to them for comfort even if they are friends. I have found forgiving myself provided more relief than trying to forgive her. I kept beating myself up for getting myself into that situation and being so naive, when in reality I just didn’t know then what I know now. Look for groups or people who have been through it. | 12 | Dude the numbers aren’t adding up. Whole lot of married men. There’s a couple that live near me and I’ve always thought they were living the dream. He is a fit very successful guy, she is drop dead gorgeous and they have 4 happy kids, big amazing house and all the toys. They always look so happy and content when I bump into them. I just started seeing one of the wife’s friends and apparently they are really unhappy and haven’t had sex in years. Don’t fall for the act, a lot of people out there are struggling despite appearances. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/07/26 10:15 PM
How do dads manage when they work all week and watch children all weekend?I do 7/7 and I speak to my kids every night they’re with their mom on FaceTime. It’s worked really well. You don’t have to go whole week without connecting with them. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/07/26 08:16 AM
How do dads manage when they work all week and watch children all weekend? Why don’t you do a week on week off? I do that with my three kids and I get to focus on work, my study and my adult relationships during my week off, and then I can completely focus on the kids on the week they’re with me. It’s also the best set up for them in that they can relax and spend time in each house and quality time with each parent. If they’re changing every two or three nights it’s very unsettling for them and they never feel like they’re in one place long enough to relax. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/07/26 08:12 AM
I don't want a divorce, I just don't want to be married to her anymoreThere’s a better life waiting for you on the other side. It takes courage to take the leap into the unknown. But from my experience it’s worth it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/07/26 11:21 AM
When kids ask about the divorce…Yeah, I was feeling really self-conscious about sleeping on the floor in the lounge room while trying to date but the last woman I was with said that there wouldn’t be many dads who would be willing to make that sacrifice and she really admired it! So there you go, it was all in my head 😂 | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/07/26 01:29 AM
When kids ask about the divorce…I live in a two bedroom apartment where my boys share one room, my daughter has the other one, and I don’t have a bedroom. It’s too expensive where I live to get a 3 bedroom place. I just sleep on the lounge room floor with a futon Japanese style and roll it up in the morning. I decked the whole place out with stuff from marketplace so it didn’t cost too much, put a bit of thought into it and people always come in and say how good the place looks and the kids like being there even though it’s sm… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/07/26 09:25 PM
When kids ask about the divorce…Thanks mate. I’ve monitored my kids closely over the past 6 years and they have transitioned well and are thriving academically and socially. Believe me, there were many moments where I dreamt about telling the whole world what really happened, but I believe my relationship with my kids, and their relationship with their mum, is rock solid because I restrained myself. It was hard but it was worth taking the high road, my life is the best it’s ever been. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/07/26 06:45 AM
When kids ask about the divorce…Don’t involve them in any details that will cause them confusion or expose them to any toxicity. The romantic relationship and its demise isn’t something that needs to be shared with them. Forget about trying to be seen as the one who is right, it will only cause them pain. Single dad with three kids here who was destroyed by my ex who had multiple affairs. But I have never shared what happened with mine who were 5, 8 & 10 at the time when I left 6 years ago. I just told them they’re mum and I h… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/07/26 03:04 AM
Married for 10 years and confronted four times in the last two months when I found my wife cheating. I don't know. From what you’re telling me, I’m not sure why you’re staying. You need to get out of that relationship asap. This is coming from a single dad with three kids, whose wife cheated. Trust me there’s nothing but pain ahead for you in that relationship. Get out now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/07/26 06:25 AM
Recently DivorcedWhen I first started on the apps a guy I know who is really successful with women who gave me some great advice. He said don’t get hypnotized by beauty, keep your ears and eyes open and really listen to people on the first couple of dates, you’ll be amazed at what they tell you and how they’ll subtly show you their red flags if you’re paying attention. Trust your gut, don’t compromise your boundaries and values, and be willing to walk away gracefully. That advice has been so helpful over the yea… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/07/26 11:07 PM
Recently DivorcedI’m a divorced single dad who had never used apps until I was separated at 48. The apps that I’ve had the best experiences on are Feeld & Bumble. I’ve had a lot of fun on Feeld and also made some great deeper connections and good friends. Had 2 longer relationships 6 months and 10 month from bumble. I’m 51, 5’10 tall, bald and have 3 kids. It took me a few months to really nail my profile, had to work on my photos and learn how to communicate effectively via messaging. Also have something you’re… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/07/26 10:44 PM
Almost finalized divorce and find out oldest is not mine. How to handle this mess?I have a unique story in that I found out my dad wasn’t my real dad when I was 21 and I’m now a single father of three and I found out my oldest is not mine. I haven’t told my ex so she doesn’t know either. I’m not telling my son until all of the kids are adults in 7 years time. I’ve seen this from both sides of the coin as the non biological father, and also as the illegitimate child. I don’t know how old your son is, but his well-being is the most important thing here, forget about revenge. Sh… | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/07/26 08:47 AM
What was dating like after being divorced?I waited a year before I dated, and I can’t recommend that enough. Post separation is one of those rare opportunities in life where you get to find yourself again, when you get a clean slate to reflect on what happened, learn from it, and design the sort of life you want for your future. De-centering women after separation is the best thing you can do. You’ve been tied to one for years most likely so don’t jump back in with another one straight away. Focus on you for a while, heal, reflect and p… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/07/26 07:33 AM
Age gap!I waited a year before dating after separating, made sure I did some healing and focused on my kids. My first partner after my separation was 28 and I was 48. I honestly didn’t see it coming. She is the most beautiful woman inside and out and my friends couldn’t believe it. Just enjoy it and treat her well but know that it’s most likely not going to last. We were together a year and I ended it because we were heading in different directions in life but we are still friends. She took me to dinner… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/07/26 08:01 AM
Divorce coachThanks for your reply techrmd3, as mentioned my friend had a good experience with his divorce coach and I’ve used coaches in other areas of my life and got great results but yes there are good and bad in any industry. I trust my mate and his judgement but was just curious to see what others have experienced. Looking online there seems to be some coaches with a professional act and formal training/qualifications and others who look like cowboys with little to no experience. I’m not able to pay th… | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/09/23 05:58 AM
Divorce coachThanks for taking the time to respond Reflog1791 but there is too much on the line to take advice from anonymous strangers on the internet: financial settlements, custody of my three kids, co parenting agreements etc, etc I’m seeking professional advice with the goal of avoiding court proceedings and expensive legal fees. I do appreciate your comment though and agree with you about getting fitness, hobbies and finances in order. I’m looking for feedback from anyone who has used a bonafide divorc… | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/09/23 04:48 AM
