I have been hounding my brother for about 8 months about this. He's struggling to find work a year out of college and in the competitive media market, plus NYC metro area, you're much much much less likely to find work as an overweight black man with poor skin. Basically 70% of our interaction at the moment its workout check ins, diet talks, and helpful advice. He's down 40 pounds without any chemical help and just eating less shit and doing a simply workout i gave for him every day. Everyone ha…

I don't think this is 100% true and can definitely go both ways. I know at least six white girls that look the same, which in a way makes them unattractive. It's kind of bland. But, as you said, and as someone else touched upon, African-American women are not of the greatest caliber. I have known 7+ along the way but 100% of the time they were well-educated, spoke well, came from strong family units with attractive parents and were generally like me, personality wise. I cannot deal with and do n…

Old church acquaintances wonder why I never visit when I'm home anymore. 100% chance I'll get this kind of shit and a conversation I don't want plus an unwarranted weird comment about "if i was younger" from an old lady. stop.

You're right. Are you going to by that redbull? instead send the money to savings. Are you going to go out to dinner? Pass, send half to savings and the rest spend on real food for food prep. If you're going to things like Coachella or Stagecoach or Vegas any of that shit and have $1k+ to blow on tickets and entertainment or anything like that that's fantastic! But if you don't and you choose to save for that instead of investing for the future and you have no money otherwise it's probably not a…

I only had one or two straight-up, honest professors that told us that buying the texts wasn't necessary at all, everything would be covered in class. Honestly, I'd rather show up to class and learn cool shit from a cool dude that I already paid for instead of dropping another $300 on books I'll never read and won't get $40 back from.

When I was in college, there was a weekend of activities at my frat that we had to go through before finishing pledgeship. For some, it could be punishing and uncomfortable. For others, it wasn't. I fell into the former camp (though by the end of the weekend we all were complaining and physically drained), getting a head start on everyone else. The one phrase that was repeated all the time was "Train your mind." It had less to do with the physical nature of my situation than my mental one, but t…

You can 100% tell when a dog has been trained by a man. This dog will listen to everyone, regardless if they met them last month, or ten minutes ago. My gym has a lot of dogs--the ones trained by men (with one exception though I maybe be wrong on who trained it) are extremely friendly, but commandable if you use the right tone. The one's trained by women either only respond to women, or to their owners alone.

Have a few things that will hopefully come together this weekend: My clarinet from middle school is coming in the mail. I'm going to start working on that again (It's been since 2002), along with a newly rented viola. I've been a violinist for 22 years so music can come easier with some work. A couple of workouts scheduled, one just a regular class, the other to see what skills I can work on so I can stop being a mediocre crossfitter, as well as the beginning of a new, structured lifting cycle. …

This is why I highly recommend Tai-Chi and really need to get back to it. You're not static but depending on who is instructing you you could be moving at a near glacial pace and the only thing that matters is mastering the pose.

Bias as a man aside, I think the show is well-written and genuinely entertaining most times. Watching the show kind of coincided with my discovery of TRP this year so a lot of things started to make sense to me as I watched it. Piper and Laura Prepon as the most AWALT characters, in my opinion. Not to spoil anyone who may still be watching, but they pass off blame, try not to screw the pooch, and generally are incredibly selfish for the whole show, including toward each other. Many of the males …

We're hitting peak SoCal summer temps right now and the temp difference between out and inside is pretty gnarly if you keep on going in and out like my office does. I rather enjoy the nice, cold air in my office, but almost every woman in the office has complained about temperature at some point.

It's explicitly stated in the court write up that although she didn't explicitly say "no" that, presumably, because she was high on pot, she wasn't in control of her actions. Her only qualm was that she didn't want to have sex with him without a condom and when he produced one it was a done deal. As far as I can tell, there was not a police report filed.

I'm not entirely certain how conservative my church is though it's probably true. There was a time when I got a lot of "Not my type" answers from people in the same circles. On the other hand that was 6 years ago and I haven't really spoken to anyone from my church during that time, and definitely not in the context of dating. EDIT: was talking about this with a roommate (who's asian but more attracted to latina's and black women) and he's had some success as well. though i think it helps to not …

I've been out in LA for almost a decade and I can absolutely confirm how difficult it is out here. I will say that there are girls using Tinder/Bumble/etc but one of the things I find common is that even if I was the one to "complete" a match sometimes they won't respond (or in the case of Bumble, even initiate). Not a big deal, but indicative of everything I've read and re-read on here. The social circles thing here is huge and part of that is money. If you have the money you are set. I went on…

It's amazing what you can accomplish just by putting some of this stuff together. Slowing and deepening my breathing in all social situations, speaking as low as possible and as little as I can while still being engaging. I'm not sure how people ever wear stuff on top of shirts. I hate having to wear jackets or ill-fitting shirts, i wear a lot of polos and nicer tees, more fitting button downs. It definitely helps.

I can confirm. I've run 3 lifting cycles in the last 2.5 years-- one madcow 5x5 and two smolov cycles. The madcow 5x5 I was great until about halfway through and my eating went to shit, but my body was so used to the loads that I kept on going fine. And when I took my rest days before my max I lost everything and dropped around 100lbs off my total. it was bad. My first smolov went well though i was heavier. Put 40lbs on my squat. But i was eating everything in sight. later that year i injured my…

I once got the "i just need to stay single for a while" line from a 9/10 who was in a sorority and legitimately hadn't had a LTR while in school. She posted something after she got engaged, I think, talking about how she thought she would never find the right man for her and how it had been so hard in college. She married a baseball player and ignored the literally dozens of betas, myself fucking included, willing to do whatever. That was the last time I heard of her.

These are all very helpful reminders, especially for those of us now entering the workforce where nepotism and favoritism are taking a front seat more than ever. I'm friendly with my co-workers, but I rarely do things outside of work with them. i keep my life to me and my work life separate. As far as photos are concerned-- Shirtless is great if you can manage it. Even better is if you can get someone to stage something so there are photos OF you but not by you. Saying "I don't really have time for selfies but I do these things where people take pictures of me".

Exactly. I was a semi-professional classical musician until I decided to drop it in university. I play for fun now, for myself. I'm usually not shy about sharing it in the right contexts but it takes a lot for that to happen. I'm researching picking up another instrument or two and adding that to my hobbies/passions list.

In Italian culture the evil eye, or malocchio, can be acquired a few different ways, one of them being when you are targeted with a compliment that they really don't mean, as a way to butter you up with false confidence. This is the most common way.

My parents were both raised Catholic--my mom was born here in the US, my dad from Europe. Like most Catholics in the 80s the stopped practicing Catholicism. I was christened when I was born but they didn't go to church for a while. I have vivid memories of when they started going to a Baptist church after a couple of years of getting to sleep in on Sundays. So yes, I was raised in in the church and like many southern Baptists (even in the north) I "came to religion" when I was young. Before I wa…

Oh, I'm well aware that not all relationships work out into marriages. I've been here a while so I'm aware of the TRP truths and theory--I didn't really say in the original post that later on I realized that his decision to put his career on hold and do something totally unrelated to follow after her was probably the turning point.

Exactly. If we ever talk about that I'll point that out as the point that the well dried up. Recently I've been getting the usual questions prodding about whether there are any girls in my life. And recently my answer has been that my paycheck and my career are more important to me right now and then the interrogation usually ends. I would never pick up and leave for a chick.

Funny enough--my roommates are out of town for a few weeks so I'm on my own, so I've been hitting up beaches looking for people to play some fairly competitive volleyball with. I got a great assist today as I happened to show up at a beach the same time as a friend and rolled up to a co-ed league. It was just the first week and nothing counted. Mostly, no one was very good but I didn't care, just was nice to be out and about. Ran into a ton of people I knew from different circles. I played every…

I'm in pretty good shape, like to do other things other than gaming (reading/gym/sports/paintball/whatever) but sometimes at the end of a long day and before I lay down to read before bed, there's nothing honestly more relaxing than joking around with a bunch of randos online and shooting things. It's not a be all end all with me. It used to be part of (but not solely) fraternity life, booting up a bunch of consoles and pwning n00bs in Halo. I was just thinking about posting something like this. Jerry Seinfeld was on The Herd (ESPN Radio) this morning and I only caught the back end, but he was sickened by the "apology culture" that we have created in the US. Everyone is offended or "triggered" by everything. Why should I have to tread lightly just because someone might have a horrible fear of fence posts after a particularly traumatic experience picking up the mail? My former roommate, a few years older than me, recently married a woman, three years older than him. Now I'd like to say that she is old fashioned. She will cook and clean. OMG this makes incredible sense now. This was 5 years ago and I had just started lifting. I had put on mass but wasn't cut (but I wasn't round either) and went with this girl to a grunge show in NYC.
