Rox you are absolutely correct, these images are metaphors. Of course they serve to invoke an emotional response from the viewer. To me the unidirectional male-perpetrator, female-victim framework comes off as extremely dishonest and insulting (as it always does); especially when accompanied by the surrounding language from the photographer: "woman in a man's world," the subtler instances of "oppression".
