I'm also 17m and was lucky enough to pick up a manual labour job at 16. I saved for about 7 months and moved out of my mums, April last year. Trust me when I tell you that when you don't have to interact with people you don't want to your life will be so peaceful man. I've not spoken to most of my family for over a year now (most of my family are women who treated me pretty much the same) and I've been so much better off because of it.
