I'm not taking your comments personally at all. I don't know you. I just disagree with your views on things. Again, I ask: Where else? The overwhelming point here is that Reddit, whether publicly funded, privately-owned (as now), professionally moderated etc. is never going to be what you want it to. Your fantasy-driven, ideological answers do not change that, as does your calls for "Where else?" On the internet? No where. The internet by its very nature is annonymous and privately run/owned for…

Then where else? Just because Reddit is, according to you, the best place on the internet for long-form discussion, doesn't make it good. Sure, Reddit has a greater breadth of interests and is more accessible, but this also a negative. We deserve professional moderation because Reddit is, or is becoming, part of our digital public square. A) Who is going to pay the moderators for every sub?B) With around 52-54 million users around the world, I would say it is delusional to call it anywhere close…

Reddit isn't a place for sensible, well reasoned discourse. Subreddits are either niche enough to stay on topic or devolved into a political/social whine fest in the comments of every post. These reddits then slowly bias themselves to a certain viewpoint. And are either dismissive, or aggressively against opposing views. Coupled with the fact that on larger subs there is usually one mod who is pretty active and has power trips, you can see why myself and many people i know use reddit a lot less …

There's a lot of that in 'woke' culture and social campaigning circles. The radical ends of the political spectrum too.

Some people use the excuse that men are stronger than women and a hit from a man is more likely to severely injure them. There is a period in a childs development where females out grow males for a time, but males quickly catch up and exceed females in physical ability. Women have less muscle than men leading to loss of strength and power. Upperbody - women are 52% as strong as their male counterparts. Lowerbody - women are 66% as strong as men. pubmed Because of this males tend weigh more and b…

That has nothing to do with Testosterone though. For example Myostatin essentially puts the brakes on muscle growth and without it animals end up "double muscled" and pretty damn lean. A friend of mine has it and was born with visible abs.

I love how i got downvotes for asking you a question to understand your position better and stating a fact, haha! You kinda went off topic from my question but: Thats a respectable position, i can certainly empathise in some ways. I chose to stop trying for a few years, although i was never that bothered. most people in general really aren’t that smart. They don’t think things through, ask “why”, or even put the effort into understanding how things work. This is something i noticed a few years back. People who i am sure could be very smart just don't think about things. They wake up, go to work, come home, got to sleep... Repeat. No 'why?' or 'how?'. It is enviable to be honest. I've refrained from saying it before as i didnt want to come across as superior.

Where are you from, that that is such a common practice? I don't know any man that has had that experience IRL. Especially being called an 'incel' which was the original point i was making, in regards to 'vocal women on the internet'. It may also be an age related issue as to why my personal experience is different.

Except that I am a man and frequent pages such as this. I see the inequality that effects men, as well as experiencing it, so I'm not sure why you think I would not be exposed. Of course it is victim blaming (I never implied it wasn't).

I don't get it either especially when it is intelligently and respectfully put forward. It's like they have brainwashed themselves into hearing oure fantasy. Most of the women I know just want to be treated with respect, something that most men do, but then they haven't been brainwashed. I get a real cult-like vibe from feminists on the internet.

Honestly i think most are ignorant. I have only met one radfem in real life. All women i speak to would consider themselves feminist. None are misandrist and will change their views if you discuss it with them. I'm middoe class from the UK, which may have something to do with it.

Tried reading Mark Manson's book on dating? I think that has some pretty sound advice. Albeit not advice the radfems would like. Be polite, bit direct. If they show you they aren't interested just say 'now worries, have a nice day' and leave. Most women will respond well to that.

She is wrong. Most violence towards men involves one being a victim. Rarely both men agree to go outside and settle it equally. She is misinterpretting data that most men are attacked by men (what is reported anyway), by thinking that men willingly try to fight eachother often. Sure some men do, but they are the minority.

I think you summed it up perfectly: once a word gets popular, it will lose all meaning that even the slight relationship to the word makes the use correct Incel, cuck etc. have very narrow usage if we care about accuracy of the language used. When used legitimately I don't have a problem with them. I had no idea what a 'cuck' was until a year or so ago. A youtuber I follow made a self deprecating joke that he was a 'beta-cuck', so I had to look it up. It says a lot that the only men I see using …

Surely the question is, 'why cant they?' Why do women not find them attractive/relationship material? Self awareness is definitely part of it in at least honestly working out what the problem is. You cannot solve a problem until you find out what it is.

Personally I have no issue with the phrase in itself. Dicks in themselves are abundant and of low value. The same way vaginas are. The issue stems from the context it is said in and the hypocrisy of the person saying it. The hypocrisy is the thing I have a problem with most. If I said publicly that 'Pussy is abundant and of low value', the people who would say the same about penises would be in uproar. That classic double standard we see from feminists. Would I be hurt if someone said this to me…

Great post. I think it is also important to note that people usually seek out what they are interested in, or effected by. If a person has been adversely effected based on their gender, they are more likely to seek out like minded people. Any negative feelings that stem from said events may make for a defensive response later down the line, in a space where they feel comfortable expressing their feelings. As someone who is somewhat voyeuristic in some groups because I believe that feminism as an…

Wasn't sure if I would like this post when I read the title, but my hope was rewarded! Nice infographic. However the violence one is tricky, as there is most definitely good reasons for violence. As a general rule though it is spot on. Edit - I probably use half of these already, but unless someone was actively harassing someone else I wouldn't correct them. Nice to use against bigoted people though.

Thank you for the response. Your situation and insight is much needed, as we don't often get to hear such nuance around gender identity from someone who actually has experienced both sides. I've never needed to fight for my female identity amongst women. 5-10 minute posts are not close to the 15 hours of reading i did on other Mens Rights subs, if you think they are, you are not as smart as you think. I hate it too. I live in the UK and whilst there are regional differences in how women respond to male attention, a small percentage of interactions have a similar outcome. Doesn't happen often, but when it has it has been as innocuous as 'do you have a light?' to a girl I am not attracted to at all.

I could if I cared to go back far enough and look. I spent 15+ hours reading through back posts, I don't have the time to do that again. My point I guess was that there were a lot of posts from angry men, blaming women as opposed to feminism as a movement or blaming their personal issues on feminism without cause. In my experience most women have no idea on the current state of feminism, at least in the UK. Their definition is one of equality of the sexes, which is not the same as the feminist m…

The fact that she identifies with radical feminism, yet her main gripe is they don't even acknowledge her position, is nuts. Why would you identify with those who do not have your interests at heart? Sounds like she lives in a very unprogressive place and should move. Either to a new city or new country. The truth is that trans rights have only been front and centre in social media for a handful of years, it might take a generation or two before she sees much change. Edit - typo's.

I wasnt on that sub for very long, but I spent hours trawling through previous posts to get a feel for the sub. What I noticed is why I left. Angry men, women-haters, incels. On more than one occasion I saw a post blaming women and feminism for their problems, when the problem was clearly their own mental health. The other commenters enabled that thinking. My other gripe was that too many of the commenters didn't think things through. Made for a place I didnt want to be.

That is the exact time to bring it up. Even if one person there was on the fence and then thought her outlook was perhaps justified, because there was no adequate opposition to her, exacerbates the problem.

Thanks for sharing, this is eaxctly why i asked the questions, to gather other viewpoints and dicourse. An interesting observation and one that I agree with. I wouldn't personally include strength, stoicism, emotional regulation as toxic masculinity, but i know many do. I think that they make for a healthy mind in both men and women and that many especially aren't really supported in discovering their strengths. Especially when there are definite factions that fight any show of masculinity.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/12/20 06:29 AM

So how do you view opening some of the first domestic shelters for men, as linking to masculinity? How do you feel people are trying to changing masculinity?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/12/20 05:14 AM
4

I would say resillience, strength, perhaps a certain level of stoicism and control of our thoughts and emotions. Confidence. Saying, thinking and doing the right thing. I am not talking repressing our emotions, just learning a healthy way to be in control of our minds and interactions with others. I don't count masculinity as being physical strength, bluster or posturing. The 'alpha' machoism is an example of what I don't consider masculine. I would say many here definitely have masculine qualit…

I agree it isn't due to feminism. I also think it depends what we consider masculine too. As a man who has spent over a decade working with the working class, and knows a few soldiers, I would not consider either particularly masculine. I would argue they act more macho.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/12/20 02:02 PM

I joined that sub, immersed myself in many posts and quickly noticed the subsurface hatred and malice from many posters in that group. I had to leave in the end. They were too blinded by their ideology and hate that they didn't realise that there are plenty of women that would support mens issues if they knew they existed. They kind of became what they hated.

This appears to be a reccuring theme here. Personally i think it's utilitarian. Women have historically had value to males because they bear children which ensure the survival of the species. Men are also larger, more aggressive and historically have been expected to protect. It seems to make sense to me that this gender role has modifed over time but was still a subconcious role until recently. Whilst I do not necessarily disagree that times have changed and we should be viewing things differen…

I would argue that it wasn't particularly clear and ambiguously worded. To make it clear you would say "most perpetrators of rape against men ,are women.' To say 'and most men are raped by women' could imply that a significant portion of the male populace is raped at some point in their lives. Clarity is important and something we need to get right as a movement, as it is also a problem our "adversaries" have. If we can be clearer in our speech, then those reading are more easily able to underst…

Ah I didn't know that! Dr. Who has never been my schtick. To be honest I find most BBC shows either badly written/directed, badly acted or far too wishy-washy for my liking. A show based on survivors of the apocalypse should have a little grit, for example.

Agreed. The plight of other ethnicities in the UK is important but the peoblem the UK and some of the Left (Radical) have is focusing on particular subjects at the exclusion of all others. Personally from an academic stand point, i would either go with less facts to add context or from a media persoective, keeo the style the same but write an accompanying article. Exactly, I think what you said about how you take that rejection is important. If we take it badly, we are less likely to attempt the behaviour again. Which will lead to the ridiculous incel movement association some males have, where they are angry at women because they never get laid/a relationship but their psychological state is too impaired to allow them to create meaningful attachments. Prime example of why Mens Rights advocacy, and support structures around that are important.

Rejection isn't a bad thing. It's an indicator. X girl wasn't interested, so she isn't attracted to me. If 100 girls reject you in a row, it makes you ask yourself why. Maybe my clothes are tatty, or I don't shave often enough, maybe i should shave etc. Its part of the feed back loop. I find its all about honesty and vulnerability. Men have been conditioned by society to not show vulnerability. Yet an openess to show vulnerability demonstrates confidence and an attempt to connect. Asking a girl out is an example of this, you're honestly telling a girl you're attracted to her, and the vulnerability is in the possibility of rejection. No. 11: For anyone that doesn't know why 'manspreading' is actually a good thing, it is great for back health. Sitting on an object is unnatural and the low back tends to become compromised as the pelvis tilts. I am not creating a double standard and if you think I am then your political ideology is blinding you to what I am saying. You make an interesting point. Women have magazines and books etc. To teach them about dating. 'How to get your perfect man' and similar. Men don't really have that. Men are also being lied to about what women want. Sure they want someone thoughtful and caring, but they also want someone confident and strong. Exactly, they need compassion and help, if they want it. As long as they dont hurt anyone though, they shouldn't be forced. Just encouraged. I have heard stories about incels who i would be concerned they might do something bad.

True. I think for many the knee jerk reaction is always to the vocal minority of incels online who are quite frankly not thinking ckearly.

Exactly. I'm from the UK and everyone I have spoken to over the years about it is usually shocked that it's happening.

Could there be a utilitarian aspect to this aswell? Children have a potentially longer life span ahead of them than adults and women can have more children? I would also say that men in those times had a very "women must be protected by men" mindset, which is very outdated, but interesting.

I agree with almost everything you have said. To bridge the two viewpoints, taking ownership of the fact that there are areas of society in which we are discriminated against is an important acceptance. Once you accept something is true, you have the ability to start working on it. What we do need is to own the facts that we aren't well represented in society, but the key is that ownership and blaming ourselves for these issues aren't the same thing. This is why I am in agreement with your post …

In my opinion, in the brief time I have been here reading posts and getting a feel for the sub-reddit, there are a lot less angry men here. Sure there seems to be passion, but I see less woman-hating fanaticism in this sub. This leads to well reasoned people who are self critical, instead of the bluster and "I am right" of other groups. That is why I left other groups, because I understand that my dislike of Feminism is the organised, vocal minority. Not women in general. I also think it's hard …

That isn't illegal at all, you can say that. I have already told you on two occasions what you cannot say under UK law, i am not wasting my time repeating myself again. Tell me have you posted this up on a political sub yet? I thought not.

Not the difference between a democracy and dictatorship, you cretin. For a hypothesis to be testable, you have to be able to isolate the variable you wish to test, in this case free speech. How exactly do you plan to isolate free speech from the myriad of other issues that help form or protect from dictatorships? Going off of current data there are not enough data sets to confirm your hypothesis. It isn't testable until you come up with a way to test it. It's just a baselss claim at this point, …

Except that your hypothesis is not specific enough. Nowhere close. Don't try to sound smarter by using scientific language when you don't even know how to establish a hypothesis correctly.

Dude, we have had laws limiting our free speech for centuries. They're not eroding. Haha I don't care about your opinion in 2100, i dont keep in touch with people with poor reasoning skills. Your argument is based on a false premise, yet you fail to see it. You're also blind to arguments that counter your view points. You're a true believer and as dumb.

Dude, you have to be trolling. No one is as stupid as you are acting. You are using a small facet of a democracies rights to then use to explain a concept effort to halt a democracy. If a democracy has structures in place to prevent rulers seizing control then that is what stops dictatotships. Free speech has the power to start revolutions and to criticise governments, not to prevent tyranny on its own.

Yes, but we DON'T have free speech. I've stated it numerous times, but you're too dumb to notice apparently

Except for the UK. The thing that keeps nations democratic is the structure of the democracy, not free speech. I've already explained this to you with zero rebuttal of my points.

Copy and paste this original post into a political sub, you'd get ripped apart. Your reasoning is flawed, but you're high on your own supply and cant even see it when it's pointed out to you.

Except that it isn't a fact. We've never had free speech and you were singing the UKs praises in previous posts as being a long standing democracy. Lasting far longer than three generations. You're an imbecile who spouts nonsense, you're not going to prove yourself right on this subreddit, you don't have the intellect for it. As is evident by your other conversations above.

He's an ignorant pseudo-intellectual, what do you expect? Sometimes i ask myself why i bother replying. Can't reason someone out of a position they didn't wholly reason themselves into, afterall.

Especially considering how much evidence of identity politics they ignore. The much despised Jordan Peterson has spoken at length about it, likely why he is so hated, and it's shocking.

What i find ridiculous is how little the Universities/colleges get the police involved! If it's a legitimate case ut should be prosecuted, if it isn't then the accusing party gets discredited or fined at worst.

I am perfectly calm, although slightly confused at why people on reddit can't seem to read and comprehend an entire comment. I never said that sustaining democracy is unconnected from free speech. I said it is not the ONLY mechanism for maintaining democracy and supressing dictators. I agree that Britain for the most part has been an example to other Western nations for our style of tolerant liberal democracy. Yet that isn't what i was talking about at all. Its most certainly is not a miracle th…

Whilst I agree that censorship is ptoblematic and usually used by dictatotships and tyrants, it is important to consider that many countries in the West are leaning towards tyranny. Including the US, as their current president shows. Hierarchies trend towards tyranny, yet they are better than monarchies or dictatorial government. The UK has never had free speech as Americans know it. Yet I could say that "Hitler was right about race", or that "Women are inferior to men and shouldn't be allowed p…

You say my entire argument falls apart on this, yet not only was this not the main point of my argument, but I believe we have two different concepts of challenging the teacher and educational system (which is what my original remarks were based on, not as a society as a whole). Here atleast asking questions of a teacher, even contrary to what you have been taught, is not challenging and for the most part is not treated as such. Afterall how can we learn and further our thinking without differin…

This why also my thinking of the subject. Men tend to get prostate cancer in middle to later life. Women can get breast cancer from an early age. My friends girlfriend died of it this year at the age of 28, as an anecdotal example.

This is another interesting facet of the argument. Boys find it harder to sit still, one would assume due to biological markers such as testosterone. Of course it also fails those with ADD. Thats ignoring the poor health outcomes of making people sit for 6 hours a day.

Finally, a reasoned critical response. I believe you are misrepresenting females perceived societal status. This may be local differences in the way women are perceived, but in the UK women are not perceived above their class. Maturity was used as an example, and unclearly I will admit but it was not expounded on enough to be 'used to push my viewpoint'. The difference in maturity seems to be why teachers have a bias towards females, they perceive them as being more mature (even though they are …

You are misunderstanding my points, either by mistake or purposefully straw-manning me. I never said that the education system is designed specifically for girls and not for boys. My point was that since the feminist movement has allowed a cultural shift where women can have access to the same job roles as men, men have suffered because we (as a society) have essentially forgotten about men in this equation, because we are believed to be "the oppressors". Whilst I agree that the school system do…

I agree with all of these, but would like to bring awareness to the sociological (instead of legislative) issues we face. This is similarly in line with the sexism that women face, even with equality legislation in place. Its the unconcious societal biases and values still present, even after so much change. The particular point I would like to focus on is girls doing better than boys in education and why this is such a problem. You see females perform better at school primarily due to the expec…
