Also OP needs to be around people who arent hypposcrites and hold double standards. Apparently he is being pressured to not spend his money the way he wants and only date women who want his money for themselves. There are women like this and they suck. Stop dating them. I actually think its a selection bias. The men who are naturally stronger/healthier will withstand the negative effects of marriage longer and stay married and live longer cause of their natural likelihood to live longer anyway. Less physically/mentally/financially strong men will eventually be eroded by the constant nagging and stress of marriage and leave the marriage. Sex is a source of power for women (anyone really but especially pretty women). Clothing is the primary mechanism of exercising that power. Progress means empowering women to exercise their god given power. Before, men would jealously oppress this aspect of women's power for good reason, as it specifically exploits men. Progress is letting the individual realize the extent of their own power... regardless of what society has to say about it.

In CA at least, Spousal support is more or less banned (rare cases maybe persists, like if the mans a millionaire and she has nothing). Though in much older couples they still will have it cause your talking about a couple that might have married when women still could not open bank accounts without their husbands permission.
