Find a job that gives you satisfaction in addition to feeding the bulldog financially. I'm a psychiatric nurse. It's kinda scary at times which keeps the adrenaline pumping, I do feel like it's necessary and I'm good at it which equals satisfaction, it pays ok (cards on the table, a grand a week after taxes) and I only work 36 hours a week. Yep, I'm in financial servitude. But I get enough out of it to make it worth my time. It works for me. Find what works for you ... whatever that is ... and d…

Nothing is ever their fault. Plus, they use sympathy to get what they want. Portraying themselves as victims is standard MO.

I do think he should go see counsel and proceed with the divorce. Definitely. But, just to play devil's advocate here - and please bear with me - I think it wouldn't hurt the guy to talk to, and this is key, the RIGHT type of therapeutic counselor. Maybe even group therapy with other men who made a big mistake and are paying the price for it. Granted, I know that the RIGHT counselor is not easy to find because of the anti-male agenda that is pervasive in that culture. Very much so. But suppose a…

Can you imagine the reception a man would get after writing some bullshit opinion piece on things "Women should be required to do"? The goddamn uproar of clucking would be deafening.

She has the right to "change her mind" regarding an engagement. No problem. A man changes his mind? HOW DARE HE?!?!?!

Most people are insecure about themselves and so caught up in their own neurotic hangups that when they see someone who doesn't have them, it catches their attention. They want to know what you know because they want to feel good about themselves, too. So be friendly, but don't worry about what people think. It's some kind of paradoxical zen bullshit, but when you stop trying to impress everyone, it just falls into place.

I've got a couple of them. And I'm definitely not a prettyboy type by anyone's standards. I just don't have ay sort of social inhibition. I did until about the 8th grade, and then I just decided not to anymore. Its not really confidence per se. It's just more of an attitude of not really giving a fuck what people think about me. Of course, like all things, you gotta keep it at healthy levels.

First post here and I'm gonna waste it on something tangentially related to the post, but oh well. The "Jennifer Annistons of the expat world" line struck home with me. When I was 30 years old and living in LA, I saw Jennifer Anniston outside a mexican joint smoking with a couple o' gals. So I said fuck it and went up and had a very nice conversation with her. She was a nice as she could be, but her two fat ugly friends were complete bitches. She had literally married Brad Pitt about 2 weeks ear…
