Nope. A better way to think of it is the aforementioned swimming pool or the undeniable fact that politics exists downstream from culture. Part of the problem is the capitalism you reference....without a firm moral foundation and a support structure of laws you get Kardashian levels of moral degeneracy - all completely capitalized.

Not sure if its been mentioned yet - but there's no need to get into a pissing contest with this person. Keep it respectful and un-dramatic as possible. Your job is to exit the situation with as little negative blowback as possible....not to prove any "point" to this person that's been ejected from your life. Be safe......if you want to tell this person off, do it after they're at a safe distance from you and not while living in your house.

Christ walked the earth completely free to spread his (radical) views partly because he was un-encumbered by marriage. What wife would have allowed this austere life style....preaching, teaching and no worldy goods? Wrong. They're the same thing. If you're christian you believe in the divine inspiration of the apostles and their writings. Also, God didn't physically write the bible in the Old Testament - he used humans as in the New Testament. Also, also, these two statements can logically co-exist because of the context involved....quit being a literalist and realize there are meanings, intended audiences and other factors involved.
