Sorry you went through that. I can relate. Mine wasn't as bad, and when our oldest out of 3 turned 12 she wanted to live with me. Hated her mom. It changed everything. Next thing you know, the courts start wondering why and I was able to talk the other 2 into moving in with me. She still owes me 7 years back child support. It was years ago. I got lucky. I've had more male friends physically abused by women than women friends abused by men. I've been married twice, and both my ex's would get physical at times. Nothing to serious, but punches thrown. Fortunately nothing came of it, and I never got physical back. I've never hit a woman. So. Woman get a free pass when it comes to that.
