If you only lift 100lb when you could be lifting 150lb, you won't progress as quickly. Greater stimulus = greater response. If you rest between sets, you can lift more. That said, depending on how the study was set up, it may well be that both groups were lifting 60% of their 1RM even though the resting group could have been lifting 90% of their 1RM.	/r/seduction	26/11/12 10:47 PM

If both groups are lifting the same weight then yeah, there won't be much of a difference. However, because you're doing exercises back-to-back without much rest in a circuit program, you're not going to be able to lift as much as you would with longer rests between sets. Just do Starting Strength, StrongLifts, or any other novice program that emphasizes compound lifts. Circuit training isn't really useful for building strength or mass (it's really more of a cardio exercise) and a hypertrophy split routine isn't really great for beginners (it's tough to build much mass when your lifts are low).	/r/seduction	26/11/12 07:36 PM

There were certainly a couple of apathetic professors, but those tended to be the exception. Of course, one downside of handling education at the state level is that there's quite a bit of variance between states.
