Confident persistence: Don't give up on the girl right away if they aren't acting interested right off the bat, but don't pine after her so much that you are creepy. Just continue talking to her and flirting with her, and make sure you have other girls you are talking to as well. That way you won't feel like it's a big deal that the girl isn't acting interested. Be careful with making yourself unavailable. If both of you act like that for too long then nothing will happen for sure.

What would work even better is if you are legitimately busy, dating other girls, and have a lot going on with your life, so that sometimes you have to reschedule plans naturally. Call me crazy, but I find it pretty silly to intentionally flake out on someone you like.

That's true. If the girlfriend is really pursuing the single guy, then the guy isn't really at fault for it. I would still be careful with the "cheatee" coming after me, though.

All is fair in love and war. FTFY. Even though it's just a cliche phrase that doesn't mean anything. If the relationship is failing, and the person isn't feeling desired, then it's that person's responsibility to end the relationship or try to fix the problems. Cheating should not be an option.
