I think they just misunderstood "private prosecutions" to mean folks acting as vigalantes. Honestly I (stupidly) did as well, until I read a few more comments, which gave me context and helped me understand what was meant.

I don't actually own a gun, but I appreciate folks knowing if they encounter a firearm how to handle it safely and appropriately. If you'd read my post, you'd see that I was indicating I feel such gun safety classes would reduce accidental firearm accidents, which was my point. But if you want to assume I get a raging boner over BB guns, so be it - that's your issue, not mine.

Yeah, asking for consent is expected and required, but doesn't change things that much in my mind. I didn't really follow this case, but it seemed from the little I read the defense was making more of an issue that the officers, and prosecution "had it out for" her due to her vibrator and such - however - I an unclear as to if while in the courtroom this was really played up by the prosecution?
