Don't be seen as a 'survivor'. I don't like feeling pity from others, despite the hard circumstances I feel that I'm quite lucky in life, having had a loving, supporting, financially stable family, good friends, going to the best schools and having deep, meaningful hobbies. Cancer was definitely a problem in my life, but I don't let it define me - I am not willing to be "the cancer girl". I am who I am and cancer is just a part of it, now my whole being. But it's good to keep this is mind when s…

Femininity is a state of mind. I think you nailed it. During treatment I was feeling so unfeminine that I really focused on my appearance in order to feel better about myself. I watched many videos on YouTube about skincare, makeup and style. That might have made me focus too much on the physical side of the equation. Now that I have made quite some progress on the physical side (except the hair, but it grows on its own) I'll focus on the inside. Thankfully, RPW has a Mega-List of resources whic…

Thank you very much for your kind reply. I am actually pretty much ahead in life for someone my age - I landed a job in the industry of my dreams recently (one of the 3 biggest strategic consulting firms in the world has recently offered me a job for when I finish my Master's degree) and am doing fairly well in my studies. I also have a solid group of Friends and many hobbies I enjoy. I still don't have it all figured out, but I feel like I'm making progress. Dating is the only area which I'm no…

Had to reply after seeing this... Like I said, what's stopping me is the fear. I don't get another chance. I am 22 and can't really afford to spend years in monk mode and then come out and decide I want family more than this. I am 22 too, and went through a similar phase as you when I was 21. Due to some difficult circumstances in my life I happened to stumble upon TRP (hadn't found RPW yet), swallowed the pill, exited the market and went into mont mode to concentrate on maths and science (I'm a…

I'd say that in order to get over this, you need to feel that you obtained something from the experience. If you feel that it was wasted time and that you would have been better off without it, that will make you more bitter/sad about it. However, if you try to reframe it in a more positive way, you might get over it faster. I have a friend who was deeply regretting being a man's plate and she got over it by telling herself: It happened, I'm not proud of it but it makes no sense to let that fact…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
