The gold age of marriage is over. Back in the 40s marriage was a totally different prospect. Now, with women wanting to be empowered, its the dumbest move you can make. Never divide your power, neve trust your future to someone else. Long term relationships are the way to go, it keeps both parties appreciative.

Its a viable argument from the point of view that its detrimental to the child, you have to fight/prove that its not. The arguments you've made seem sound to me. Then you have to make the argument that her having sole custody would be detrimental, and that your son needs to the stability of both parents.

Women always try to pull this shit. They arent gamers, so they dont understand and they resent that we bond with our sons through it.

You have one life, is this really the way you want to spend it? Yes its hard to go through a divorce, but its worth it. You have no idea how great things can be without someone pulling you down.

Now is when you need to fight for what you want, the moment you agree to take less its set in stone and incredibly hard to change. The easy way is to compromise, but there's a reason why its the easy way, not the right way.

Curious, if you have 50/50 custody why would you pay any child support? In the UK you pay zero if its an even split. Spousal maybe (but that can end as soon as she starts cohabiting)

Blimey mate, that is one hell of a toxic relationship. From what youve said I think her relationship with John will not go the distance, but women often want to hold the first relationship after a divorce together to show it wasn't them that was at fault. Here is what you do, you will never know the truth, so you assume the worst. She cheated, and she fucked up. That's it, you classify her as that, and don't give her any more room in your head. The best revenge is a life well lived. Move on with…

No, doesn't she have a car? Usually they offset each other. 20k isnt that much for a car these days. Also its a non liquid asset, so doesn't really affect things as much as having that in cash would. Just make sure you get a Clean Break in the order.

Shes trying to get a response from you. At the start mine asked me if it was ok if she donated her wedding dress to a charity that turns them into burial gowns for stillborn babies. I was like... wtf....and then like... "burn it for all I care." Women will do some seriously fucked up things to try and get a response from you. They need validation because for some reason they cannot get it from themselves or their accomplishments.

We all die alone. Give yourself time, and you will discover a source of strength that is unbelievable. Being in a relationship because you are lonely is one of the worst reasons, so instead focus on healing and recovering, and when the time is right you will find someone worthy of you, someone who will eclipse the past. Believe me brother, you have no idea how beautiful things are once you make it through the darkness.

Hey man, I feel your pain, and its ok to feel the way you do. You feel robbed of those moments, but in time you'll see that you did your job as a dad by raising a son who could have a normal relationship. Its also worth considering that even if you had been happily married, he might not have wanted the father son talk etc, its our job to give them what they need, not what we want, no matter how much that might hurt us. Funny how they always end the marriage, and expect US to leave our own home. Do not sign. Do not rush. Get a lawyer and get them to advise you. I cannot stress this enough, this is the BIGGEST event in your life, the deal you cut now will determine the course of your life for the next ten, maybe twenty if not longer years. Take your time.

How did you get the recordings? Depends where you are, and you should google this more, but if you get a transcript of the recording, you can submit that, they can then challenge that, and you can then present the recording. Its complicated, but can be done. I guess you could just say it was emailed to you.

Divorce + Financial Ruin. Yes its terrifying, but its never quite as bad as you think. On you death bed, having lived a happy but frugal life, do you think you're going to be more satisfied than having lived half a life and been unhappy? Yes it's scary. Yes its hard. But you don't realise how beautiful the other side can be. But you have to fight for it, and risk for it. You're not going to die because you ran out of money, you'll die because you rant out of time.

You know it, she was like some fierce grandmother protecting me. There were deals that came through from the other side and she was like "we're not going to accept this, they are dreaming, here is what we're going to send back". First of all you need to have your own phone. Why is she controlling anything in your life? Priority one is always to secure your lines of communication, whether thats phone, email or whatever. She should have NO access to that at all. Secondly, Im not sure that a phone company would cut you off and then reinstate you with such precision, usually it takes at least 24 hours.

Get a lawyer. Stay in the house, let her threaten to leave. You will have much better chance of 50/50 custody if you have the house as its already a stable environment. Not sure where you are, but in most places finances and kids custody are separate, so shes being an idiot and deliberately trying to mix them up. Stay strong.

Comparible in the sense that its somewhere you can make your own and have the kids with enough space. I went from a 6000sq ft house to one that was tiny, but it was mine, and the kids loved it because of that. I found that a lot of the stuff I thought i needed, was actually what she needed to feel good about herself.

Rent first, get a house that can accomodate your kids. I dont know how things work where you are, but here housing is the first most important thing. so any alimony settlement takes into account the amount you need to pay for housing. the key thing is to get somewhere that is yours and away from her, which is also comparible to what you have (you dont want the kids to favor her place more than yours). \

The key thing to learn and remember is that nothing you could have done, or not done, could have prevented this outcome. If you had done what she asked, she would have just asked for different things, and kept changing until you failed. Now is when you have to be strong, get through the divorce, obtain your freedom and then rest and recover. You won't believe how good life can be once you're free.

It seemed like the natural progression. Met in our mid twenties, had a house together, wanted kids, so the next step was to get married. No one tells you that getting married is entirely optional, you can have it all, and not be married. Yes, but not for the reason you think. The purpose of marriage counselling isnt to right the wrongs in the marriage, its to "fix" the marriage so it lasts. Where the woman is the problem, its easier to blame it on the man, and get him to change his response, than it is to explore the womans behaviour and get her to change. So, if shes acting like a total bitch the approach will be to change your reaction to it, rather than calling her out on her behaviour. Its a total waste of time and money.

So when your son asks for money from you , just say "Ask your mum", or "Ive sent money to your mum, she can give you some?"

How old is your kid? How does he/she ask? (what do they say?)

Remember, that under UK law you automatically have the right to joint custody. While in reality the courts do favour women hugely, it still strengthens your position. Not to bounce you to somewhere else, but take a look at the Fathers for Justice facebook group, there are lots of people who have been through this.

I'm sorry to hear that. Im not sure where you are, but doesnt her hitting you constitute domestic violence? What do you mean she requested a 5 star hotel? She wants to go stay in one?

Bro Ive been where you are. The good news is, that although you think you cant deal with it, you can. There are plenty of us who are veterans of a divorce with a narcissist, so plenty of advice and experience. Small steps first. Get yourself a one hour consultation with an attorney. Work out where you would live if you leave the home (or if she will be leaving). How you could manage having custody of the kids and working. For every bit of preparation you do now, you'll save a month once it begin…

Sounds all too familiar. You could be dealing with a narcissist. (Blaming others for her own mistakes, believing she deserves more, but not actually doing anything to get it) Im afraid the news is not good buddy. She's unhappy with her life, she feels trapped, and she's blaming you. She's blaming you, because otherwise she has to accept that her unhappiness is the result of choices she's made. Why isnt she working? Mine was similar, we had a great life. But she felt she deserved more. Why did she…

What country are you in? A clean break is a financial term used in the UK divorce process, and frees you of future financial burden, but would still allow you to see your kids. Youre kids deserve a father, so dont give up custody based on emotions at this time.

Sometimes it can be useful. I switched lawyers mid way through, and the new lawyer picked up on a lot that had been missed, and allowed certain points to be re opened.

If you think good legal advice is expensive, you should see bad legal advice.

Have you lawyered up yet? I cant stress this enough, you need strong legal counsel. Dont let yourself be driven by your guilt, or you will be paying for that mistake for the rest of your life. Without a lawyer its like stripping naked and trying to fight a tank.

Its hard, I remember how terrible it was sticking it out in the same house. It was soul destroying. However, it will depend on where you are, but for me leaving the house would have enabled her to claim abandonment, also since the kids were living there, it would have given her custody and then left me an uphill fight to get 50 / 50 restored. Before you do anything, hire an attorney, and speak to them. I cannot stress this enough, find a good one and pay as much as you can. You will never regret…

Good job! I'm not back in the dating game yet, but is it normal to wait that long before consummating the relationship? Back in my day it was usually within the first month.

Its a control mechanism. They get some sort of perverse pleasure from thinking they can still call on us. Mine still tries it. I have a rule that unless the message is urgent I wont reply for an hour or two. She soon cuts it out. The funniest was when she had a go at me for taking too long to reply to a message about one of the kids (they couldnt figure out how to do something on their ipad). I had to firmly remind her that I wasnt on call for her, and next time she should sort it out herself. S…

I know its tough, a real kick in the stomach, but just keep moving forward. You wont believe how quickly things get better when you have your own place. About three years ago I was in the same situation, leaving the home I thought I would grow old in. Now I have a new home, and am happier. Its not been easy, but it gets better.

Also, she's put 5"11 Which is 5 inches 11, not 5'11, which is five foot 11. Seems like an all round tard.

Sounds like exactly what happened to me. When I wrote the last check to my lawyer after the divorce, it hurt paying that much, but was worth it. "Anyone who says you can't buy happiness hasn't been through a divorce."

I was in a similar situation. After paying spousal, child support, and then bills, I actually had nothing left each month. So each month would be worse than the one before. I spoke to a lawyer, and told them what I wanted, and they basically shrugged and said thats not going to happen. Then I found myself a better lawyer, and I fought. I dug in, and fought a bloody war of attrition, and I'm not going to lie, it was awful at times. However, the divorce was approved a few months ago. And I got wha…

Things that go away by themselves, often come back by themselves. Don't worry about what shes doing, kids can see through that shit soon enough. Just remain consistent, and there for them. Keep making the effort and in the long run youll succeed. Time is your greatest ally, and her enemy.

I know its tough, but when dealing with her you have to act like you're in hostile territory. In and out, get the mission done, and don't linger.

Yes, but I had doubts, there were serious problems with her personality, but I was willing to overlook them because I was young and stupid. However, I think second marriages are far happier, because you tend to be older, so there is less personality changes over time, and also you know what shit you wont put up with. Theres just more honesty all around instead of believing in the Disney fairytale version of marriage.

Yes. There are other options. You can still have the ceremony, she can change her name etc, just not be legally married, and no one would know but you. Marriage literally brings nothing to men, but takes a lot away.

Time. Its a cliche, but same situation here. It takes a while, there is no quick fix, and progress maybe slow but it is also inevitable. The pandemic will end, so take this time to do what you can, stuff like learning from youtube videos or taking up hobbies like model making, or painting are still possible. The key thing is to relax, and not rush it. Think of yourself as an operating system, you've had some malware removed (your ex), and now your systems are returning to normal, finding out wha…

Why bother with an affair? Thats worse. Just be honest, try therapy and if that doesnt work, divorce, but the fact you're already considering it, maybe skip straight to divorce.

This is what is wrong with some women. Boasted, got schooled and then gets all upset. Men shrug it off and get on with the job. Thats why men do better in the military, business and generally in life, because our hormones dont turn us into psychotic morons.

Basically you are putting the responsibility on the victim. So she is allowed to behave how she wants but a man must, in the heat of the moment after being attacked, determine what is proportional. Bullshit.

Sounds like you're a simp hoping to get laid. In reality, you strike with enough force to end the fight, job done. But you wouldn't understand that, because you let women treat you like trash in the hope you might get some... real men dont need to put up with shit like this get some.
