Sorry man I didn't try to come across condescending. No stress if you don't want to get into a philosophical discussion over reddit! Totally agree its an ego problem. Unfortunately for pretty much everyone its close to impossible to leave it behind when it's best for them. I believe if you use your money and time to help others it definitely can help you to find happiness.

So do you think you can maintain constant happiness through constantly buying a ‘cool’ new experience? There are many, many studies done showing that as income increases above a level required for comfortable living there is no change in happiness in ones life. You can’t just buy suffering away, and it’s going to hide and find you if you think you can just pay for a trip to Europe and not look at it. Everyone gets bored of everything, you need to find something more. Sure the happiest moments of…

The mind illuminated is one of the best guides out there. Takes you from novice to adept meditator.

Thanks for your comment. I won't get into philosophizing about death (could go on forever) however I don't believe that a 'soul' or our consciousness will continue to live on after death. I do think though that existing may continue although in a way that we can't begin to comprehend, relating to the "thing-in-itself" or will as Schopenhauer puts it. Personally, meditation, powerlifting and learning are the things I "live for". I have not yet finished university however I hope I can add my job t…

Glad to help. Meditation: The Mind Illuminated by John Yates is an absolutely amazing guide from just beginning meditation to becoming an adept meditator. Schopenhauer: The World as Will and Idea is very good. Can be difficult to read at times due to vocabulary but is fine after the first few pages. Stoicism: You should definitely read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, pretty much bible of TRP along with Handbook/ Enchiridion by Epictetus. Not directly stoicism but would also recommend The Last Da…

That's a good point I've never really reflected upon. I'm sure many people have been confused by people telling them to pursue what makes them happy - only to find that they understood them incorrectly.

Very minimal increase of testosterone with doing squats/deadlifts to just lifting in general. Happy to be proven otherwise however from what I have read the increase will not be noticeable at all (btw im not against the movements at all - I do both every week).

Agree with this dude, did headspace for about 2 weeks daily ranging from 5-10 mins and now I meditate 25-30 mins a day. Message me for any tips on forming the habit and its benefits!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
