I actually thought it was pretty clear that it was tongue in cheek, but there's still the problem of it had been the same tongue in cheek response to a man talking about how to get his wife to do something, there would have been an uproar. There-in lies the inequality. It's not that what's being said as a joke is unacceptable, it's that to say the same to the opposite gender would be.

In all reality, that is probably how this woman's (who's writing to Reader's Digest) husband feels. Honestly, in an objective sense, how does it matter if the door is being held and who is going first (unless someone is carrying something). I used to have a girlfriend who actually wouldn't let me hold the door for her though, that was weird. I hold the door for guys and girls alike when the situation calls for it--everyone's always overcomplicating things with their silly social rules.

And I'm saying that circumcision is not an option that should be open to the parents, plain and simple, that's it. I'm sorry about using the word mutilation, I understand I may've used it wrong and I didn't mean to offend you, but the point that I'm arguing here, and I'm not arguing against you I'm arguing a point, is that circumcision is simply not something that should be up to parents or doctors or anyone but the individual.

That's completely irrelevant. The foreskin is not something extra. There are virtually no benefits to removing it in the modern world and at the very least it's far from a necessity. If an adult or even a teenager decides they don't want their foreskin any more, fine, let them consent to have it removed. Honestly, I think circumcision of newborn children should be made illegal. It's a form of genital mutilation, and just because it's culturally acceptable doesn't mean it's not abusing a minor's right to their own body the same way a child molester does.
