I was the chairman of my CR chapter in the mid-90s, and we had the same issue. We briefly had a very leggy blonde that turned some heads, and one time she showed up to a meeting in skimpy workout gear. I had the best view of her walking in from the podium, and the only thing missing was some walkup music from an 80s movie montage LOL. I was actually pretty good friends with my counterpart at the YD chapter, but they didn't seem to have it any better when I attended one of their meetings.

I never thought of it that way. What I saw was a lot of teachers and paraprofessionals who never managed to establish appropriate lines with kids. I never saw the upside of being a "popular" teacher or wanted to be friends with kids. But it's easy to get approval from young men (or old ones). She was BiPo and borderline and I caught her during a brief up. I didn't want to shit where I ate, but she was throwing it at me and I'm a guy LOL. The one after her was far worse.

I used to be a teacher and once fell madly in love with a co-worker. She dumped me to briefly go back to her XBF before she got fired at the end of the year and moved in a 10th-grade student with her. I wanted to believe she was just trying to be like that woman from The Blind Side until she married him a few years later. So I got outgamed by a 10th grader LOL It would have been in the news if it was a male teacher and a female student. The student in question was a varsity athlete from a very r…

My favorite response to "We should break up" is "okay!" There are plenty of neurotic insecure high maintenance fish in the sea.

I haven't been there, but one of my standup comic friends did a bit on it. It only cost him $5 to see some chick from high school that rejected him. But he also said that it's a lot of videos of talking head. It kind of reminds me of the porn addicts on the daytime talk shows who go bankrupt paying for phone sex and porn. I can't remember the last time I paid for porn. A couple of weeks ago one of my kickball teammates invited us to a local gentleman's club for a drink after the game. I went for…

I've talked a lot about my 3 BiPos in a row, and this tracks big time with my last one. She was an absolute squatter in my home, and wouldn't lift a finger Any attempt to take any sort of leadership was met with a loud screaming match and huge escalation. When I would finally back down before the neighbors called the cops, nothing had happened 30 minutes later. I was showeredwith affection and responsiveness at first, and then everyone else got the sunny parts. She stole anything I owned that wa…

I used to be a special ed teacher, and about 10 years ago almost proposed to a co-worker. Before I got that far, she dumped me because I wasn't "long term material." She got fired from the school at the end of the year and moved in a 10th grader with her. She married him when he was old enough, and he already left her. Learning the news gave me no schadenfreude, because by the time I found out I was getting over a far more toxic relationship with an unflushable squatter. To that point, there wer…

There are a lot of shared delusions in our culture, but most of them are based on the premise that the goal is to find a mate and settle down. Our value is based on having a typical experience, and if you want to do something outside the status quo, it's not incentivized. Schools, churches, and businesses are all places where you're better off being a worker bee. I will say that TRP is more for me about inner game and personal growth. It's not about wearing a big pink cowboy hat and boa to a bar…

This. If they didn't listen to you while you were together, they're not going to listen to you while you're being dumped. You already no longer exist to her, and don't owe her the audience to unburden herself. Breaking up isn't a zero sum game...it's actually a game you both sort of lose. You can only lose less. Any response to "we should break up" longer than "okay" starts a slippery slope of losing more.

We all know that every time we hear "I think we should see other people" she already is. Many people here have said that polyamoury is simply a way for cucks to be okay with an indecisive monkey swinging on a vine, and that's absolutely true. But it doesn't go both ways if we want to "explore" or whatever buzzword they're using. Even "platonic" relationships got too complicated when we started seeing other people. I've never seen a woman who doesn't have huge jealousy issues, but they're always …

I have owned a copy of "Fire your Boss" for quite some time, and just got to it. I don't want to say I read it all at one sitting, but I read it quickly. It hits on many of the same notes. Specifically, the notion of having a career and achieving life fulfillment at work. Networking is considered particularly worthless, because people hiring don't want to make time for desperate people who need the work. Same deal with women...if they're the goal and the ultimate prize, you present no challenge …

This should be common sense to everyone here, but women approach conflict differently. Two guys can have a fistfight one minute, and drink a beer together 5 minutes later. They become instant best friends if another dude shows up in the same shirt. We look at the world as a series of problems to solve, and at least in this community, we work to make rational decisions instead of emotional ones. Women, on the other hand, don't generally get in fistfights. They have to resort to cunning, and often…

Very interesting, and something I haven't thought of before. Before I graduated to toxic BiPo/Borderline sociopaths (gave up amateur status and went pro), I had a couple of girlfriends who perfectly epitomized the whole "monkey swinging on a vine" thing. At the time, I thought that they were so classy, and that I had outkicked my coverage. But they weren't. They were just indecisive 20somethings that had all of their catty friends and family tell them that I wasn't good enough long enough for th…

I've experienced the opposite of this. I was once having an IM conversation with a close friend's wife. We were firming up some plans, and she said something about having to clear it with Ryan. I made some joke about her being the boss, and not having to clear it with him, and she said that she deferred to him on all decisions, and was completely serious about it. It wasn't anything major, but I was kind of taken aback that she wasn't comfortable speaking for both of them on what would seemingly…

Sadly, I don't have any contact with her. I'm not her bio father, and was never married to her mom. There's really no appropriate way for a single man in his 40s to continue a relationship with a middle school child after the relationship ends. It's too bad that the ex was so incredibly toxic, because I really loved the kid. She also came with great in-laws...her dad was a handyman who made a lot ot improvements to my home. The only thing that didn't work was the ex, and she was really bad news.

I'm in my mid-40s, and in spite of being in a couple of long-term relationships (much longer than they needed to be), I have managed to remain unmarried with no kids. I've always wanted them, and know that I'd be a great father, but it just didn't work out that way. One of my exes has a daughter that's about to start high school, and during the 6 years that they lived with me I feel like I was a much better father to her than her deadbeat methhead dad. He'd make gestures about catching up on chi…

I'll be devil's advocate and say patch. Gum is just trading one oral fixation for another. The gum also tastes like shit. The hardest part for me was finding a hairless spot to apply the patch. I also only used them for 3-4 weeks instead of the 3 months that they recommend, because I was tired of shaving my shoulders LOL I've never smoked a cigarette in my life, but dipped snuff for almost 20 years. Kicked the habit about 10 years ago after several unsuccessful tries. Quitting isn't the hard par…

I once saw someone on reddit say that if you're thinking about trying a new drug, take a look at the people who use it regularly, because those are going to be your friends once you start. I joke about the fact that I've never done coke for the same reason I've never killed anyone: I'm afraid I'd like it. I also don't understand why in the hell anyone would ever use meth. But there are plenty of successful, driven people who smoke pot regularly without wearing clothing covered with pot leaves or…

I've been following PUA articles for a long time, but a lot of the stuff feels creepy and weird. I'm not going to wear a giant pink cowboy hat to bars and use magic tricks as anj opener. The stuff that I've liked focuses more on inner game. I do think that women make their decision about you pretty quickly, and you're not going to "trick" a woman into sleeping with you, particularly if you reek of desperation. I'll also say that men clearly outnumber women on the online dating sites, perhaps by …

I gave it up over 10 years ago. I was mostly on eHarmony, which almost never matched me with anyone local. Instead, I had a number of one-night stands with women out of state. I also learned that chemistry on the phone doesn't translate to RL very often. My very last eHarmony date flew to see me, and was planning on staying for 5 days. After two, I drove her to her brother's house in another part of the state, and we had a 3 hour car ride in silence. I never tried Tinder, because I always heard …

Lots of gay friends, including a couple of former roommates. My only real complaint about gay parties is that they're complete sausagefests. I will say that I have been hit on a few times at bars, and take it as a compliment. Most of the time they're cool with it, but I have had a couple that were really aggressive, and made things awkward. It definitely helped me understand what many women go through when they encounter guys that don't want to take no for an answer.

Don't be afraid to find spots to butt into conversations. Lurk discreetly near the group, find the pause, and swoop in. Another one that I have a lot of success with is "I don't know a soul here." It usually happens to be true for most of the people at the party, and it's a very nonthreatening opener that has never let me down.

I turn 44 the day after tomorrow, and my answer is yes...I stayed with the same woman for 8 years because I got complacent, and she dumped me at 27. I felt like a senior citizen when I was trying to start over. I've had some ups and downs in the subsequent 17 years, and have collected a lengthy list of things I wish that I had done differently. But you can't. The quicker you learn that, the more proactive that you'll be. But you're still gonna fail. A lot.

I recently got out of a 6 year relationship, and a couple of years prior to that, I stopped messing around with online dating. I had the most success with eHarmony, but success is kind of a relative term. I rarely got connected with anyone local, and I had a series of one night stands that would take at least a couple of months to set up if air travel was involved. It was pretty weird having what amounted to a LDR with someone that you had never met. Tinder wasn't around when I was doing the onl…

Same here...I remember having a mediocre first date, followed by mixed signals, and I wrote this long email. I had a female friend look at it to make sure that it read right, and her response was "this isn't an email, it's the closing argument for the defense counsel"

This was a long time ago, but me and some friends were regulars at a local bar, and went at least weekly. We always sat in the same waitress' section, and had a great rapport. One of our favorite things to do was to play little pranks on her when our checks came...one of us would put our Home Depot or Lowe's card in the binder, and she'd come back and smack the perpetrator. One of my buddies sort of asked her out once, and it never went anywhere. She also invited us all to her kid's birthday par…

Hai Karate, English Leather, Brut, by Faberge, and of course, Coty Wild Musk I don't really wear cologne anymore, because I work with kids, and the idea of wearing cologne to work is a little creepy to me. That, and so many of them have allergies. I'm probably dating myself when I say that Eternity, Obsession, Fahrenheit, and Cool Water were the ones that I liked the most. There was also one called Samba that I think they only sold at JC Penney that I got a lot of compliments on.

Very interesting post. I take getting hit on by a gay guy as a compliment, but when you have a really aggressive one who persists after you politely inform them that you're straight, it does sort of put the shoe on the other foot with regard to how the women must feel when they get cornered by a guy that they're not interested in who won't leave them alone.

Speaking as someone who is around gay people a lot, and quite secure in my manhood, I take getting hit on as a compliment. I've never had anyone quite this aggressive, but I have had a couple of guys that were a little pushy, playing the "how straight are you? card," and so forth. I typically respond with humor, and say something to the tune of "I'm flattered, but I'm not in good enough shape and don't know enough about fashion to be a good gay guy" In any case, when it does happen to you (and y…

Perhaps, but it's also something that they're not accustomed to hearing. I've met several effeminate men who were raised by a single mother and have a bunch of sisters, but were chick magnets. Having said that, if a compliment like that doesn't feel natural to say, then don't say it. But definitely think outside the box when it comes to this kind of a cold open. Think of what other guys might say, and say something different.

Women typically make their decision about whether or not they will date you or sleep with you in minutes. It's not typically a decision that you will be able to talk them out of. Kudos for making your move, though.

For the record, I'm certainly not suggesting that everyone hit up Krispy Kreme and the multiplex and expect results. But under the right circumstances, who knows? Volunteering will probably result in more quality interaction, but there's a certain appeal to using the shotgun approach sometimes/

At my gym, there is a "women only" room. My running joke is that the women who are working out in the regular gym want to be hit on.

I've always heard that there's nothing wrong with being friends with a woman, as long as it's not "just." Having said that, I don't know if I totally agree with this idea of holding out for some woman who friendzoned you, hoping that if you work on yourself, she'll come around. I'm certainly no expert, but everything that I have ever read or personally witnessed indicates that women make the decision on whether or not they are interested pretty quickly. Once they've made that decision, they can'…

I was in denial about my hair loss for too long, started shaving my head about 10 years ago. My confidence went way up, and I felt like it was turning a weakness into a strength. And some chicks dig the horseshoe as well, so I wouldn't worry about the ring showing up. I don't know the backstory on the women you've asked out, but I doubt that they all conjured up fictional boyfriends when they saw a bald head. They could have actual boyfriends. And if they are lying, then you just saved yourself …
