Yeah. I have issues with TRP trope that the only good woman is a young uneducated submissive one. Personally I'm looking for a woman who has at least a four year degree and at least five years of career experience. I'm looking for a partner not a dependant.

Yeah -- my ex used to go on and on about how important marriage was and how we'd be together forever -- or at least until she met a guy with a lot more money.

TRP does indeed seem fixated on strategies for attracting very young women for short term relationships. However, there also seem to be lots of guys there who would really like to find a good women for a long term relationship (I'd be in that category). About a month ago I started a thread about lessons I've learned (i.e. red flags and things to look for). The post got hundreds of comments. Some guys found it useful and added their own lists of things to look for and things to avoid. Many other …

It did make a significant difference -- my face looked really bloated -- but I certainly wasn't like one of those people you see on TLC. I'm 235 pounds now. Its amazing how differently I'm treated now.

Of courses there were issues but nothing that seemed that serious. I knew she didn't like that I was away working out of town all the time. In retrospect it was a really bad idea to pay for her plastic surgery and then leave her alone on a regular basis. Got to give her credit though she found a new guy in record time.

Does this logic apply to wives who gain 30 pounds over a period of eight years? Also, I'm 53, health problems start happening at my age. My ex was 7 years younger but had her share of health issues too.

I gained 30 pounds -- not 300. I was 295 pounds when we got married (I'm 6'4").

My experience is certainly going to make trusting any women difficult. Hopefully I'm not totally jaded. I never said I believe everything on TRP. Far from it. Indeed not too long ago I got banned for a week.

I had thought I'd been experiencing something unusual. Sadly this type of behaviour seems to be all too common.

You're probably right about this. Doesn't seem like its every a good idea to display any weakness in front of your GF or wife. Best just to wander off into the woods to die (luckily I live in a forest).

Yes! The double standard is real. My wife was actually very fat when I ment and married her. I actually had better eating and activity habits than she did (not really saying much). She lost 60 pounds the first six months we were together (but still weighed more than me). She was unhappy about being fat so she had weight loss surgery and after she lost her weight I sold my house to pay for cosmetic surgery to remove all the loose skin and reconstruct her breasts. Her new body gave her new options…

You know -- that "for better or worse -- in sickness and in health" stuff. I actually bought into that.

It taught me just how important looks and money are. If you don't want your spouse to try to trade up it's imperative to remain her best option. One of my coworkers once commented that I spend all my money on my family and never spend anything on myself. At the time I was proud of that fact. I now realize that I would have been far better off if I had invested in myself a little. TRP taught me to be a bit more of a selfish ass.

TRP helped me identify behaviours that undermined my marriage. I learned that loyalty and hard work are less important that looks and money. I've realized that if I want to have a successful relationship in the future I have to meet expectations.

I was working 10-14 hours a day. I was so focused on getting ahead that I totally neglected myself (that's certainly on me). But I "tolerated" the fact that she was fat and had really bad eating and exercise habits too. Indeed until just before she started cheating she was the fatter member of our couple. She asked for a divorce the same day I got my cardiac diagnosis -- still think that was pretty damn cold.

My wife cheated on me. I believe the root cause was unmet (if somewhat unreasonable) expectations. I'm a lawyer. I had just started a new job when we met in 2007. She was expecting our lifestyle to grow much more than it actually did. The fact that I managed to stay employed through the worst recession in 70 years didn't seem to mean much. The fact that I really like my job as a public defender didn't mean much. She was expecting a lifestyle that required a salary twice as large as mine. After e…

Looks are part of lifestyle. She may have to cut up her Nordstrom's card but she'll be able to strut into the club with a "Greek God". That's worth a lot to some people. Also, her friends at work constantly talking about how hot her new guy is validation that is also pretty priceless. And, if she's still getting a good chunk of the doctor's earnings she many not have to cut back that much at all.

If you don't inspire lust in a prospect on your first date there's no reason to have a second date. I'm thinking this rule should apply to both sexes. Without physical attraction people can be friends but any romantic relationship is doomed.

Its been my experience that guys are more flexible. If a guy isn't successful in his pursuit of good looking women he'll lower his standards until he is successful (guys with no room to lower standards are kind of screwed). Women are more reluctant to do this.

Relationships should and do benefit the parties. One of the benefits of having female friends is that you get introduced to her single friends.

I've done far more domestic violence cases. Sex crime cases are relatively rare (that's a good thing). It's been my experience that there is almost always some truth to domestic violence allegations. The most common defect is when there are mutual combat issues (yes women can hit, punch, kick, and stab with a kitchen knife). Often police believe the story of the first person they talk to and thereafter only acknowledge evidence that supports that person's story. The police thus designate the wro…

I'm a public defender and I've had cases where a client was falsely accused. In one case two high school students got caught having sex by a school security guard. The girl was terrified of her abusive father so rather than admit that she was sexually active she claimed that she was raped. Everyone believed her and no one bothered to actually get a statement from the security guard until my investigator tracked him down. The guard said "looked consensual to me" and the case was dismissed. The gi…

Got to disagree. It's much more upsetting when your significant other betrays you emotionally on the deepest level. Doing the 19 year old pool boy would be upsetting but is something that can be worked through. Totally falling for the guy down the street ends the relationship.

Yes! Female companionship is something that guys need. But we do make a lot of mistakes when attempting to get and keep it. Walking away isn't the answer. As the above post states, learning from our own mistakes and not repeating them is the way forward.

I'm very familiar with Canadian politics. I was an active member of the NDP when I lived in Canada. Conservatives are only 30% of the Canadian population. The rest of the country supports the Liberals, NDP, or Greens.

I do this shit every day -- it's my job and I'm good at it -- reciprocal discovery is no big deal. I get the police reports at arraignment. These contain the alleged victim's original statements to investigators. If she gives a subsequent statement to investigators I get that too. If my investigator finds out she told a different story to a friend and we get the friends statement I turn that over to the prosecution (usually personally so that I can hammer home the issue). If the witness is full …
/r/TheRedPill16/12/17 02:27 AM

Exactly. If a witness loses credibility prosecutors often drop the case. A witness who changes her story is generally not believable (unless one story is obviously a lie like when a domestic violence victim says she fell down the stairs or that she got into a fight earlier with some other unknown woman).

The lady on the dock is dead because a peace officer didn't store his gun properly and California has the best AIDS prevention and treatment system in the world. It's still a crime. Indeed district attorney's are still free to bring assault with a deadly weapon or even murder charges if the facts so support. California has reclassified scores of crimes that were previously felonies over the last seven years. We're better for it and our governors approval rating is sky high.

The "takeaways" listed by the OP seem pretty damn reasonable! However, as usual, the Devil is in the details. Post-Modernism isn't bad or wrong per se but some people who claim to be adherents have championed some pretty indefensible positions.

Its basically a very long winded version of the reciprocal discovery and judicial evidentiary gatekeeping statutes California has been using for decades (i.e. California Penal Code section 1054; and Evidence Code sections 352, 402, 403, 782, 1103, and 1035 est. seq.). Its not going to change things as much as you think.

Being a useless bum (even a jacked one) is never a good idea. It will eventually catch up with you. Look at the middle age guys around you -- you'll see that the ones who have good careers or own businesses age the best. Being successful is good for your body not just your bank account.

What's with all the hate toward educated women? They're the easiest to deal with. They'll split the bill. Drive at least half the time. Have a place of their own without roommates or family ... . What's not to like.

Don't be so sure "she'll come around". There are tons of marginally attractive 40 something women on dating sites who are only looking for more attractive younger guys (and they're getting them -- at least for a night or two).

Yes, but you'll never get a chance to use your social skills if you don't meet a woman's required looks level. If you just make the looks cut your social skills better be damn good. If she thinks you're totally hot your social skills can be minimal.

I have no problem dating women my age either (I'm 53), however, they still have to be attractive. Unfortunately a huge percentage of women loose all their sex appeal after 40. But I'm totally OK with dating women my age who have aged well.

AYFKM! If you don't have a good education you're going to get eaten alive in the global economy. A 4 year degree from a good school with a real major is the absolute minimum. I grew up on a farm 12 miles from the nearest paved road and 20 miles from the town of 4,000 where I went to high school. Everyone (male and female) who had any ambition left town ASAP.

Just one piece of the puzzle for sure. For some reason the guys on this site seem overly fixated on looks. IMHO a women has to be good enough looking -- once that threshold is met other characteristics become more important.

There's a huge difference in how people age. DNA matters, environment matters, choices matter. There are 40 year olds with 3 or 4 kids who still look hot -- and there are 25 year olds whose best years are behind them.

I went to a major research university with over 35,000 students. Most of my first year classes had over 200 people. There were many days when I didn't talk to a single person -- very different from the small rural high school I attended. Two things helped. First, I started going to the gym at least four times per week (almost every college has a decent weight room). Once I was in decent shape interactions with people just seemed to come more naturally. Second, I found a type of event that I like…

People don't age on a linear timeline and there is a large variation in how people age. There are plenty of women who are still very attractive far into their 30s who are also quite capable of having healthy children (the two usually go together -- natural good looks are a sign of fertility).

My POF profile is actually generating real dates. A decent full body photo seems to make all the difference. I've stopped writing long messages and now ask if they want to meet IRL after only a few short messages. Had a nice date yesterday with a kindergarten teacher. She's obviously very interested. Regardless of how far things go it feels good to be wanted -- it's a rush.

Controlling emotions is the masculine thing to do. Guys in an anger phase need to exert some self-control. Guys who don't control their anger end up with lots of negative real life consequences. Many of my domestic violence clients had legitimate beefs with their wives and girlfriends but they're the one's being criminally sanctioned because they couldn't control their anger.

If they vent too much this site's going to get shut down. Also, there are guys here who just like to bitch and take no responsibility for their actions. I get appointed to represent guys in termination of parental rights cases. You have to be either criminally abusive or abandon your kids to totally lose them. Absent that dads will almost always be able to get substantial visitation (approaching or equal to 50%) if they fight.

There's a difference between single moms who never support themselves and single moms who do. If she manned up (to use an ironic phase) and got a decent job (which often requires going back to college) and has supported her family for at least five years she may actually be good LTR material. Make a rational assessment and play the hand you've been dealt. If there's a way to improve your appearance do so (e.g. if your teeth are crooked make a beeline to the orthodontist; if you're fat hit the gym and learn to eat healthy; ... ). Then target appropriately. I'm old -- if I only hit on 22 year olds not only would it be freakin creepy but it would also be futile -- but with women 5 to 15 years younger than me I'm doing fine.

You guys are acting like a bunch of scared little bunnies. The sky isn't falling. Woman are actually fairly easy to deal with at work (much more so than in dating situations). Indeed the two best bosses I've had over the years have both been women. Interestingly the two worst were men.

Good god -- things aren't that bad -- all you had to do was not screw around at work -- this rule isn't new. Its nice having women around the office. My office just hired a pretty 28 year old. She's fun and feisty but I'm sure as hell not going to mess with her.

Looks matter. Anyone who doesn't think so is deluding themselves (just like the women everyone is bitching about). Are looks everything -- of course not -- but if you don't meet the minimum (usually fairly high) standard you're just not a contender. Just like kids have to be a minimum height to get on amusement park rides guys have to meet a woman's minimum beauty standard to even be considered. Its a fact of life guys just have to deal with.

I have a lunch date with a 42 year old accountant in a few minutes. A date with a 41 year old elementary school teacher tomorrow. A coffee date with a 38 year old bank clerk on Sunday. And I seem to have picked up a crazy 34 year old stalker who's looking for someone to pay her rent (not a chance).

People with bad haircuts are not automatically a protected class. However, if the haircut is associated with or is being used as a proxy to identify and exclude a protected class the business is in trouble. No, we all don't want to be rich no matter what. I spent years working for big law firms. I was well compensated but hardly happy. The work was boring and the clients despicable. Yeah men sometimes get shafted but things aren't nearly as bad as you're making out. Men have always occupied both the highest and the lowest positions in society. One glaring mistruth in your post regards alimony. Educated professional women don't get alimony these days. Family courts aren't nearly as biased as many on this site assert. Many men just suck at using the legal system to their advantage.

I like the part about fathers not encouraging their sons to enter the unknown and conquer it. This is very true -- but is something I always tried to do with my son. I took a lot of shit from women because of it (e.g. "he's too young for that" or "he could get hurt"). But it works. When it came time for college I just dropped him off on the curb at the airport in Oakland California with a ticket to Montgomery Alabama and my old army duffle bag. He found his own way to the campus in Tuscaloosa.

Exactly! I made the mistake of marrying a woman who was "working" on her degree. Lesson learned the hard way. My ex is incredibly smart but never wants to do the hard work or make the sacrifices it takes to get ahead. Regardless of the reason 78% of marriages where the woman has at least a four year degree last (as opposed to only 40% for high school or less, and 49% for some college). The take away here is that, if you're inclined to get married, you should marry an educated woman.

Blue collar jobs have been disappearing since the early 70s. The recent recession was just the latest blow. Get joint custody with your actual time approaching 50% and you won't pay much in child support (the formula courts use takes into account the time the children spend with each parent). I pay only $300 per month despite the fact I make 90K. At least in California alimony is petty much a thing of the past for most divorcing couples. My ex didn't even ask for alimony because she knew she wouldn't get any.

Its a verifiable fact that marriages between educated middle and upper middle class people are the most stable (the rich as they say are different). In middle class marriages the family unit depends upon the earning capacity of both partners. This is particularly true if the family lives in an area where the cost of living is very high. Both parties take a hit if these relationships breakup. Thus hypergamy is controlled economically. For more detail see the book "Marriage Markets: How Inequality…

Marriage is not venerated in Canada the way it is here. Many Canadian families are started by committed couples who are not officially married. But contrary to what American conservatives would predict Canadian families are much more stable. A significantly greater percentage of Canadian children grow up living with both their biologic…

England was devastated by WWII. Finland had to deal with both the Nazis and the Russians. Yet today they're just as prosperous as the rest of the western world. And don't forget that Germany rebuilt itself from rubble. Germany is actually a great example. After the war Germany was effectively neutered militarily and its population swung far to the left politically and socially. Yet despite what conservatives would have predicted the country prospered to an extraordinary degree.

You see the problem but you've misdiagnosed the cause. Over the last 40 years marriages between low to moderate income men and women have indeed become more unstable. Marriages between educated middle and upper middle class men and women have actually become more stable over this period. The downfall of the hard working blue collar guy was not the 60s counterculture. Rather it was the move away from New Deal policies and labor unions. By voting for the GOP since Nixon in 68 blue collar guys have…

The counter to this argument is that the most egalitarian countries are doing the best. The worlds most prosperous countries include all of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. All of which are more egalitarian than the USA. Citizens in these countries live better than we do. On the other hand most of the world's poorest countries still cling to traditional patriarchal values. The problem isn't women having autonomy. Actually most Red State folks don't have a clue about California -- its a very complex place. My county is actually almost totally rural with no city of any size. In many ways rural California is very conservative -- we just don't buy into the homophobia and xenophobia so common in Red States.

No doubt looks are important. Looks open doors. But who you've made yourself determines whether or not you get to enter and more importantly stay. Also, being successful gives you the resources to improve and maintain your looks. Its hard to hit the gym if you're juggling three part-time jobs to pay the rent.

Sorry but I've never used any "product" for my hair or skin ever. I'm 53 and my my hair and skin are just fine. I use soap I bring home from hotels (have a box full) and shampoo I get at the local dollar store. Cosmetics and personal care products are a ripoff. Believe it or not there are still places and occupations where a stable family life is expected. If you hit middle age and are still a playboy it can and often will be held against you. In my neck of the woods being in a long-term same sex relationship is perfectly acceptable but being a player is still frowned upon (especially if you're over 40).

The mentally resilient part is really important. I was totally unprepared when my ex lied, cheated on me, and for good measure stole. The sense of betrayal can be incapacitating. IMHO the stereotypical player is not a high value male. Rather he's a fairly good looking guy who doesn't have much else going for him who makes the somewhat rational decision to make the most of his sex appeal while it lasts. Stable monogamous pair bonding creates stable societies. It allows families to accumulate wealth and provides a base for childrearing. When couples are not stable costs to both the involved individuals and society increase. Everything from from lost opportunity costs (e.g. kids don't go to college and thus make less money) to increased crime. It should be noted that stable pair bonding need not involve a marriage ceremony. Indeed many countries with very stable families have marriage rates much …

Actually no. When you compare bones (esp. muscle attachment sites) of anatomically modern humans with their predecessors (i.e. Homo erectus and early Homo sapiens) it becomes clear that evolution has selected slighter more lightly muscled men. We're a successful species for reasons other than brute force.

Running, lifting stuff, and throwing things are three things humans evolved to do. IMHO men should endeavor to be good at all three. It follows that training regimes should include all three. It seems to me that TRP tends to undervalue running. Being able to run easily and at least somewhat gracefully is very attractive to women.
/r/TheRedPill28/11/17 02:10 PM

Not quite. Anatomically modern Homo sapiens evolved as long distance runners -- that is our competitive advantage. Neanderthals had far more muscle mass -- they're gone -- we're still here.

Just one example of the rule that guys should never exhibit signs of weakness. If you're sick or injured find some place to hold up until you're better. Or at least well enough to make light of your condition. Taking adversity in stride is masculine -- being a whiny bitch is not. Also, when she says she wants you to share your feelings or tell her how you really feel she's lying.

Find the look that works for you. I like the ease of being clean cut with short hair. However, I have to admit I look better with a beard and somewhat longer hair. Yes! Internal vs external validation is very important issue. I've noticed that there is geographic variation. People in New England and the Pacific Northwest (which was originally settled by New Englanders) are more internally motivated than people in other parts of the country. Southern California is particularly bad -- external motivation is rampant with both sexes. I believe this is the main reason divorce rates are low in New England and the PNW.

Unfortunately many men no longer value honesty either. Just look at our Commander in Chief -- he lies whenever it suits him and has a long history of stiffing employees and contractors. In this respect he's the most feminine President ever.

In California the State Bar certifies attorneys in practice areas. Don't hire a divorce attorney who is not a "Certified Family Law Attorney." You can also check a California attorney's discipline history on the State Bar website. If they've been disciplined for failure to adequately perform or failure to communicate with clients run!!!

Hire and attorney that knows what the fuck he or she is doing. Its amazing how many professionals are actually incompetent. Also, you don't have to be outwardly aggressive or obnoxious to be a good attorney. Indeed the best attorney's are actually quite low key.

BS!!! Being white does indeed convey privilege in some situations. I'm Hispanic but can pass for white -- in many situations I do indeed get treated better than my darker skinned relatives. One of my best friends and former roommate is African American. His family is solidly upper middle class going back generations -- he's a successful professional who dresses well and drives a nice car -- but he still gets hassled by cops on a regular basis.

She doesn't get to kick the guy out of the house with just her own say so. However, she can ask the court to give her possession of the family home. The counter to this (if the home is owned) is for the guy to ask the court to partition the house (i.e. order her to buy him out). This usually results in the home being sold and the woman having to get her own place (i.e. having to deal with reality on her own). From what I've seen many guys play too nice until its too late.

The competence issue is important. For some reason even smart women have trouble figuring out how things work (both physical things and administrative//legal issues). They need a competent guy in their life or things go to shit. My first wife had an IQ of over 140 but when she kicked me to the curb for a guy with stellar abs (but few actual skills) her life went to shit. Last time I saw her she told me she hadn't appreciated my general competence or how few guys are actually competent. She now r…

My ex does indeed have a government pension. Its by far the largest asset at issue. Under California law my portion will be segregated and protected until I retire (and it keeps growing every time she gets a raise). In most states divorce laws are gender neutral. The same rules apply to both parties. If a man marries a woman with a career it's not uncommon for the man to get some of the woman's property. I have a settlement conference in my divorce on Monday. During our eight year marriage I made more money but she had a better pension plan. The money I made was spent but her pension (the only asset of any real value) is community property. I'm going to get a chunk of it. The lesson here is don't marry a wo…

It is indeed a one-way street. Never expect a women -- even your LT girl or wife -- to care about your problems. That said -- never be whiny -- you can bitch but with a more angry tone. And most importantly react in response to the curveball -- don't just stand there and let it hit you in the head. Example from my own life: Career as a teacher was going nowhere so I sold the house, packed up the family, and moved 2000 miles to go to law school. A rash decision perhaps but a decisive one.

It was really cool the first time it happened when I was 18 -- and its still a rush at over 50. Sadly many women seem to loose the ability to be enthusiastic as they age. Sexual assault cases are rarely federal. Having done three rotations in domestic violence court in a large California county I can assure you that all that is needed for an arrest, charge, and many times a conviction is the statement and/or testimony of the alleged victim. If she's believable the defendant is in it deep.
