God do these questions irritate me! This is a behavior specific to a very loud and visible group of women within the black community. This shit gets a lot of attention because it's filmed to entertain and go viral. They don't represent all black women. If you followed me around with a camera in real life, you would die of boredom. This type of generalizing has consequences. I find people expect me to be belligerent and angry without knowing me as an individual.

I notice a much greater sameness in behavior with the advent of cable television, and the internet. Cultural gestures go viral faster than ever through social media. Definitely not a black thing. The clapping is pretty new. Never saw it until the past few years.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
