I really wish the men's rights movement was well-organized and productive. So much. Because men do have man-centric problems and I think society should work toward solving its problems. But back when I was a subscriber of MRA subreddits, there was a lot of "feminists are evil and useless" (feminism is definitely flawed, but comparing me to the KKK is a bit much), posting articles about individual women who committed crimes against individual men but weren't properly reprimanded yet or something,…

Dude, I know. I wanted to clarify for anyone else seeing the comment who is also aware of connotations of words (and the tone of the sentence). e: Also, if I'm "defensive," it might be due to knowing trans people who wouldn't really appreciate being referred to as "abnormal."

I was just wondering, which is why I asked instead of downvoting haha.

"Abnormal" has a negative connotation, do you have a problem with transsexuals?

Because we're young and impressionable?

Not every part of reddit is a circlejerk. /r/circlejerk is, duh. SRS is a circlejerk. Shouldn't r/mr be a respectable community?
/r/MensRights10/12/12 03:15 PM

If it was, what kind of sense does it make to be an asshole in retaliation to an asshole? It doesn't solve anything, plain and simple. It just fosters circlejerking.

Yeah, except, there's no such thing as a "gender's faults." They're the faults of people who belong to a gender. It's like me saying, a majority of rapes are committed by males, OH MEN! But we're in r/mr so we emphasize that a lot of sexual assault is committed by people who aren't male/men--which is something we need to recognize as a society. But blaming a gender is just backwards and prevents progress.

Just know that I say this as an egalitarian with feminist roots who supports the MRM. They're typically the really radical ones. Some feminists do not think of transwomen as being real women, and that they are infringing upon "real women's" rights somehow. Some say strange things about trans* people, like that they're lesbians trying to be manlier. I'd look at this blog for some examples; also Google "radfem transphobia" and tons of stuff comes up. I've seen some weirdo trolls in masculist subre…

Feminists have been way more transphobic than MRAs have ever been....

If we're going to have any breast cancer awareness at this point, it should definitely be for males. Awesome, aside from the Komen part.

Oh, man, this is so relevant to men's rights! Good job, OP.

Nobody is saying feminists hate men I'm pretty sure there are people (MRAs or otherwise) who have said that feminists hate men. If anything, it's a prevalent stereotype: Feminists hate men, don't shave, are lesbians, and are fat (likewise, masculists supposedly hate women, trivialize rape, have neckbeards, etc.).

go crazy Yeah, great choice of words, considering women are often told we can't be angry at something, or else we're hysterical (look up the term, nice etymology there). If women are crazy, then what are you?

Why would someone do that/why is it called that...like the paleolithic era? Is this some fad like gluten-free diets for people who don't actually have adverse reactions to gluten?

making sure everyone knows that they're a cheating asshole Couldn't spread the word enough. At the same time, though, I only discussed this when the subject had been brought up, not just randomly airing out affairs on Facebook (which is...really tacky, in my opinion).

That detail got lost on me (and I'm sure to those who downvoted), thanks for reminding me. I've "gone against the against the hive mind" in an MRA subreddit (don't recall which) and was at worst compared to a KKK member via comment reply, and that wasn't necessarily approved of by most other members--so that you received such messages is shocking to me, and I'm sorry it happened to you. I'm sure someone will ask your for screencaps now because no one is to trusted, etc.

Okay, but two members out of 31,263 is, well, a minority. Believe you me, if there were enough misogynistic members here, I would GTFO (like OP, I'm a woman).

I'm glad you were able to avoid being paternized (neologisms work, man)! If Maltidor had phrased the OP more like your comment, I'd've been so much more supportive from the beginning. Deciding to not automatically trust anyone is your choice, but singling out one group is just...really? It seems a lot like the flipside of Schrödinger's rapist.

Okay, now I'm pissed-off. When has generalizing a group of people ever turned out well? I want you to read that sentence again. "Don't trust any woman's snake tongue." I'm not a fucking reptile, I'm a decent human being. The woman OP encountered is acting a goddamn fool, but since when does that mean that we can say that every member of her gender is the devil in disguise? Look, I've been to a place where a person I trusted absolutely shattered my well-being. But if I had kept not trusting anyon…

I never said anyone is stupid, but creating an account so you can be a misogynist* in an MRA subreddit isn't appreciated. *To clarify for the person who is inevitably going to misinterpret my comment: This particular user (Maltidor) is a misogynist (saying that all women are liars, thanks man! I really appreciate being told I can't be trusted), not this SR.

I fucking rejoiced when the pedobear subreddits were banned, and would do the same if shotacat subreddits bit the dust. Regarding commenters who mention the legality of r/trees as a counterpoint: This reminds me a bit of the "slippery slope" logical fallacy. Disclaimer: user of trees, yadda yadda. Looking at it from a non-lawyer standpoint, no poor little C. sativa plants were psychologically harmed in the making of r/trees. I'm biased, but my opinion is that pedophilia is an ethical issue as we…

Seriously, what the fuck is this "No Fat Chicks" bullshit? The ads on the site are like condensed CelebJihad. Hugo Schwyzer is a hack, but this site has all the wrong reasons why. OH NO, HE POSTS PICTURES OF HIMSELF, EVERYBODY BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!
