I went to couples counseling once with a mentally/physically abusive girlfriend. This was the mentality of the therapists the entire time. Everything wrong she did was just because I did something to provoke her, and if I ever tried to point out that she was lying or altering her story in some major way then I was told I was just trying to shift blame.

While I see where you coming from, it was honestly best to stop her from doing that. Even though you have her admitting to self harm via text message, her having bruises everywhere could still be bad evidence against you. Especially since you'll still spend time in the local jail after she calls the cops and shows them her bruises. Source: Have spent jail time and fought a lengthy court case despite evidence that it was impossible that I was anywhere near the 'victim' when she got her bruises.

While going through college I got a job at my old high school to pay for the bills. I know exactly how this feels, as it got brought up all the time.
