See, this is a great example of what I'm talking about. My parents weren't active duty, but they also felt it was very important for them to raise us so we'd have that kind of connection. My mom had a part-time, work-from-home job that required one day a week of work, and my dad took Fridays off to watch us while my mom worked. Yes, we missed out on the income that two full-time workers could have brought in, but we had a strong familial bond, and I can't fault their decision at all.

In what situation existing today is it impossible to work while having kids? I never said it was. Being a SAH parent isn't only done when absolutely necessary. People need to stop demanding that society coddle them after making bad decisions. Nobody is demanding that, and I don't know why you think they are.

she didn't really need to be a stay at home mother. She could have continued to work and not handicapped her employment prospects by quitting. You don't know anything about his parents' situation. You can't just wildly claim that she made the wrong decision based only on what he told you.
