In the case of adoption, where the natural parent(s) of the child give custody to another willing parent(s), no child support would be needed because it's a change of custody. Just as in the case where a single parent has sole custody because that's what they want, then they are responsible for 100% of the care. I'm not saying that in all cases the man owes the woman child support. If the custodial parent doesn't pursue child support, requests that it be stopped, or doesn't allow the non-custodi…

False dilemma. I am done going down this path.

I never said it was fair to blame the man in those situations. I agree that men have practically no rights when it comes to their children. I just can't see the logic in giving all of us a free pass -- IE, the ability to say "I didn't even want it, so I don't have to take care of it" -- where there does exist a large amount of personal responsibility. There's a long, long list of reasons I think that we should not be obligated to pay child support. The instance I do not agree with us being able …

Wear a condom anyway. Birth control is only one of the functions of a rubber.

I'm saying that, as a man, who has no choice in the matter, you should be aware of the risk you take by having unprotected sex. You have no recourse after the fact, so the onus is on you to be responsible before the fact.

Haha, a first for me? I'm wrong a lot. I'm fully aware that I'm an idiot.

Yeah, I apologize about that. I have a tendency to wander off topic. I blame the backspace key.

Then your moral compass should also be requiring women - except in the case that there is extreme risk to her life - to cary all fetuses to term, and then be responsible for supporting them (no adoption; no surrender). Why must arguments be taken to the extreme like this? My moral compass does not include the ability to determine what a woman should decide, because I've never been a woman. Let me break it down for you. I do, in fact, believe voluntary abortion is nearly always a negative thing. …

I don't want to. I can, but I don't want to. I married her because I love her and value her feelings. In this case, her feelings are just as relevant in the decision as my own. For the record, I'm 95% sure I'll be getting one in the next year or two. Mostly because another pregnancy is possibly a life-threatening situation at this point in her life, because she has a congenital heart condition.

What do you think is the reasonable question? No one said anything about forcing a woman to have an abortion, even the post clearly explained it. I've heard the argument before, I just wanted to clarify. Women can choose to bring another partner to raise the child with them without the biological father's consent, women can choose to keep the baby even if the baby is not in the best interest of both people, women can give the child to the state if she decides she doesn't want the child. Men by l…

One could argue that the act of having unprotected sex is a sign of intent. We're all pretty aware of how the biology works. I realize that sometimes condoms do fail, but that could be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Right, but now we're arguing morality. My moral compass tells me that if I create a child, I am obligated to support it. Because I didn't want to be responsible for a child in my 20's, I did what had to be done to not have one: Safe sex, careful choosing of partners, etc.

There’s no legal requirement for spousal consent and no minimum age for vasectomy other than the minimum age of consent. But while it’s not necessary to have spousal consent, it’s a really good idea, and involving the spouse in the decision is encouraged. -Dr. Ira D. Sharlip, Chair American Urological Association Source: http://goodmenproject.com/newsroom/are-men-legally-required-to-ask-their-spouses-permission-for-a-vasectomy/ If your doctor won't do it without spousal consent, find a different…

Is the argument here that a man should be able to force woman to have an abortion? Or that he should be able to opt out of being a parent if he wants an abortion but can't force her to have one?
/r/MensRights19/09/13 05:48 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
