It does allow for more money in welfare, food stamps, and wic. It isn't living a privileged life by any stretch, but it does buy votes. I believe that if you're on benefits birth control should be mandatory until such a time when you can support your children.

Studies have shown that the numbers of abusers are far closer together than charges would show. I would bet that female abusers are far less likely to be charged because of the bias. Many LEOs are macho type guys and this is encouraged and even almost needed for the job. Due to this if a guy calls the police on an abusive wife he could end up arrested not just disbelieved.
