As important as this is to note, I took OPs message to be asking how she can contribute to her relationship to show love, gratitude and admiration without words, not to squash any guilt she could feel from inequality. In expressing a wish for a better balance, or to become more 'equal', OP shows that she very much loves her boyfriend. She's considering his needs. ☺️

I love to bake for my boyfriend! It's a super fun hobby for me to relax, and he's happy because he gets to try new cakes, pastries and breads 😁 Aside from that, do little things to make his life easier that he sees as chores, and don't take too much energy from you. Things like filling up his water bottle in the morning, having his favourite breakfast and cup of tea ready on the counter when he wakes up, watering the houseplants, switching out old bathroom towels, all that kind of stuff. Every n…

A lot of women automatically go straight into 'I can fix him' mode when this happens in a relationship, but you can't. You simply cannot help someone who isn't helping themselves. Don't push the matter any more, you've helped him make the admission to himself, that's all you can do right now. Self care will be super important if you choose to stay in this relationship - alcoholism is a lifelong battle. Make sure to prioritise your wellbeing ☺️

A lot of the "conditions" we sometimes put on men in relationships are less about genuine agreements and more about us trying to feel in control. We might want them to fit our definition of love, and we avoid working on our own insecurities and boundaries as a result of that. I used to feel the same way, and wanted to control my partner and get him to stop watching porn by setting rules and limits. It felt like the 'right' thing to do to feel respected. But those conversations only led to him ha…

I feel that it depends. I'll skip the whole 'vetting' talk because I assume you've done that part, being in a serious relationship. I think it's pretty safe to surrender if you've built a stable foundation over time, trust each other deeply, and are certain that marriage is on the cards. My partner is proposing this year, we run a household together, and he's gone above and beyond to provide for me and become a fantastic father figure for my daughter (without being asked to). I see it as my duty…

I think there's a misunderstanding here. You say "they seem a bit misogynistic and only seem to value women when they are young and beautiful". This isn't what this sub or any of the men commenting in this sub are promoting or believe. Your SMV can and will decrease as you age. Men do not believe that you lose value as you age. That's two different things there. Right now, I am older, I have more wrinkles, and I'm carrying ever so slightly more weight than I did when I first met my man, but he s…

My man told me time and time again where he felt shamed, squashed, or hindered by me, and what he needed me to change. Men don't keep secrets - they tell you what they want and need from you, we just don't always want to hear, so we come up with the 'true meaning' of what they're saying. Except, the true meaning is what they said in the first place! I just carried on thinking "If he wants me to change, he doesn't love me for me", and turned to Reddit to find other women who also hated men and th…

Oops, I knew I forgot something! We're in our early 30s, together 2 years, getting engaged this year, married next year 😁

This is incredibly helpful, thanks so much! I really do see a lot of myself in what you've said here, especially when it comes to being concise and correspondence with the decision. If I have an opinion its usually "yes 100% agree with you" or "actually I think this totally different thing". I can see how that could get on top of a guy!

I really loved Jillz for years, but recently it feels like she's always trying to sell something and it's really put me off her content :( If anyone knows of any similar to her, please do share!

You made a new account to protect your partner from truths you've shared on Reddit in the past, to protect your partner by coming somewhere that 'understands the man's side'. Why are you trying to protect him from the mistakes you both made? Deep down, you already know the answers to your questions. You need to own your story. Both of you! You're in therapy; you're in the right place. Nothing said here will change your situation, but I hope you know that you'll be okay. 💖

Freelance something digital - anything! I started selling writing services on Fiverr over a year ago, and honestly, I'm making bank for doing very little. Most of my workflow is automated, I work 3 days a week at most and only while my daughter is at school (9am-2.30pm). Best advice I can give is to find something you're good at, find a way to monetise it, choose a platform to sell on and learn absolutely everything you can about how that platform's algorithm works. People will pay a lot of mone…
