Great stuff thanks! Yeah my main goal is to not let dating cause me to drink again which has happened before (smoke show wanted to keep day going with drinks after a nice afternoon coffee date...couldn't resist).

A baby steps approach may help. First week focus on eye contact with x amount of people. Then eye contact and a smile. Then eye contact and hi, how are you. Then actually stopping and asking how their day is going. Etc. Work up to a full on "approach" as you call it so at least saying hi as you walk by can feel like a success instead of getting down on yourself for not starting a full on convo.

Thats what this subreddit is all about. Set to "best of all time" and read faq, then go put yourself out there. Noone in this thread has the magic pill to get you laid. Trial and error for most part. Just maximize your errors with info.

Yeah. That doesn't exactly sway my viewpoint. I get the hole "it doesn't benefit me" mentality. That's just not the way I choose to live my life. If someone is drinking then I plan to take that into consideration when it comes to how well they are able to make decisions.

I hear ya. I think the problem for myself and a lot of people in general is not knowing what you want in regards to family life. I've been uncertain about kids since I was in highschool. I wish I knew confidently either way.

Definitely. Even rejection can be a fun story when faced with the alternative of nothing. I left the bar and talked to no one vs I went up to these two smoke shows and said X, they were not impressed and so I began to scramble and said Y. I love telling embarrassing stories about myself to my friends.

Thanks. Just need to keep reminding myself of this. The last month has been great. I'm actually moving back to the Boston area soon after living in a smaller city where women are very receptive to approach. It will be interesting to see the difference when dealing with big city armor wearing women.

I personally can t communicate/don't want to with anyone under 21ish. Just not enough life experience. The entire conversation feels so forced and boring everytime. Sure it may lead to sex but at the cost of too much time of my life not being genuine and not enjoying myself.

Ah, I'm jealous. My brother is a shit head (drug addict). He will probably have kids soon....but man do I hope he is sterile.

And that's the way to be. I once knew that at my core. I think the recent break up with someone I thought could be the right woman shook me a bit. Thanks for the reply, enjoy the fest.

I hear ya and appreciate the response. I have always been really comfortable on my own. It hasn't been until recently that that has shifted. I'm actually spending time relearning to be ok with that and spending a lot of free time working on me...but when the bear's hungry he eats, so I still go out and look for women regularly. Can't help it. My sexual appetite is annoyingly through the roof sometimes. I'd love to just take time to do me for a while but my penis has other plans.

I hear ya. And agree quite a bit when it comes to the looks department. I think a big part of the question at this age has to do with deciding whether or not starting a family is something I want to do in the near future. That is at least a big part of the equation for me.

Not sure if I said "every" 30 year old (don't feel like rereading my post). If I did I didn't mean to speak in absolutes. Any guy that is maturing in all areas of his life should be doing pretty well around 30. It seems like the age, give or take a couple years, where you start to look more like a man. If the rest of your house is in order you should be quite appealing to women. If you're working a low wage job and spending your free time desperately trying to pick up women there are probably a …

Yeah, that's the big question. Do I really want to enter that familial phase of my life yet? It's a question I go back and forth on all the time. I'm very envious of my friends who know without a doubt that they aren't interested or that they are. I've been on the fence as long as I can remember.

I've kept in good shape my whole life. I'm fortunate enough to be considered handsome by most women (so I've learned over the years). Relatively intelligent, charming, etc. A good foundation has always been there. The main issue I had in the past was approach anxiety, poor eye contact (I think), and body language. All three were not horrible but were definitely hindering me from performing to my best. I've been amazed at what focusing on strong eye contact, better posture, and physical touch has…

This is all great stuff. My one issue is with the "I have a boyfriend" comment. When that line is thrown my way I typically just say something like "lucky guy. Where did you two meet?". I try to keep it friendly and then break contact. It just feels kind of wrong to keep pursuing at that point. Not out of respect for the dude in her life but I'm just not comfortable putting a women in a position where she may feel like she is compromising her integrity/morals, especially when alcohol is involved…

Just to add to this. Yoga, meetups (running clubs, hiking clubs, etc), and breweries. I live in an area where there is a big craft beer scene. I went to a few of the tasting rooms on weekend evenings and was amazed at that the amount of quality women at these places instead of out at the typical bars.

Definitely. If there was chemistry then it could certainly unfold that way. I think guys get little less caught up on in the impact of early sex in regards to the potential for a relationship (at least the mature guys). At the end of the day you just have to be upfront. If he asks if you want to get together again, make sure it is a date setting. Go to dinner. Make sure the vast majority of the night is spent talking and enjoying each others company before taking it to the bedroom. At some point…
