Exactly - I cant imagine women actually being barred or discouraged to do a STEM degree, the issue is definitely during younger years. Whilst I cant imagine teachers actively advising against it, in my school at least all the science teachers were men and the majority of the arts or social subjects were women - so it may just be subtly implied that females don't go into STEM.

I had the argument with her earlier and she told me to research - so in the value of fairness I am doing just that and will message her in a few days time. Its hard for me to provide evidence that someone didn't do something though and she will just take that and run with it. On the other hand, it should be easier for her to provide evidence since she is the one arguing something did happen.

You make good points, I agree that being expelled is unfair as is finishing his college playing career and he should get paid for that. BUT unless he signed an offer from the NFL then the job wasn't guaranteed. Plus, no sports player is actually worth $80m.

Some of the options are so stupid. We have 1. Girl 2. Boy 3. Male. 4. Female. 5. Young woman 6. Young man. The article states that the research has been condemned by critics, and the survey has been withdrawn. "Apparently" it was a draft. Also, do people not think a questionnaire like this would be answered like the religion part of the consensus (stating you're a jedi)? I would definitely just play around with this and select the most ridiculous sounding one.

The thing with sociology is that its not a hard science, definitions are not universal. So when a sociology textbook says "rape is something that happens to women by men (only)" it is someone elses definition, and not something universal. However - maybe this book should clear up this section. You/we could report this to the publishers so that they change this in a new edition. Any takers?
