Money: do you share (or are able to discuss and compromise) spending habits, budgeting or long term goals? Children: do you share plans (no children ever or to have children, and if so what are your time frames)? Sex: do you share similar drives or interests? Dead bedrooms are hell Friends and family: do you share the same values about connections? There are more than just this, but if any above don't match, you are going to be either miserable or divorce quickly. I was 0 for 4 with mine.

It will have to be in a court situation if the mother has primary, and the court will have to consider the Voice of the Child as a significant factor. I have 6 years before my boys will have that option.

It will remain hard to cope with hearing that your child doesn't want to come to your home. Assume your ex is lying, as they have no incentive to tell the truth. In my case, my kids usually cry and fight every time I arrive to pick them up because their mother does nothing to prepare them to leave prior to my arrival. She instead allows them to watch both their personal tablets and TV, while not even dressed to leave (both my kids are under 7) and makes no effort to remind them that they are goi…

If they appear amicable, assume they have been getting advise to rip as much money out of you as they can during the mediation. Plan to fight for what you deserve and make sure you lock them out of your personal financial accounts before you start. Plan to fight to keep custody, plan to fight against false allegations, document all time spent with children to discount the likely upcoming false allegations. Assume that they are no longer your other half, your partner, your friend, or depending on…

I don't denigrate their mother around them. She became my enemy due to her actions, and I keep the separation struggle separate from the children's lives when they are in my care. I refuse to talk to her in front of the children because she uses every time as an opportunity to berate, lie, and coerce me into doing what she wants. On top of that, my efforts to talk to my own children are diminished due to her refusal to facilitate communication (young children + each has their own tablet in her c…

Also going through this. My children were taken by their mother to a city 2h away 2.5 years ago and now go to school there so little chance of them returning under current circumstances. Same issue of being rocked and taking a long time to mentally recover enough to take action. I have been weighing moving to where they live, while my entire support network lives in the same city as me. Counsellor has told me that kids become susceptible to emotional manipulation around 8 years old and they are …

psych nurse. emotionally manipulative from the beginning, I was inexperienced with relationships and she took advantage of that to get children and now shes had the children in another city for over 2 years.

The guilt drops eventually, especially if it was the case that she was only using you for resources (money, house, land, etc).

the expenses did not relate to relocation at all. they were childcare, medical, and recreational activity expenses due to her choices, which she almost never communicated to me prior to making them. they were an attempt to show she pays for everything (which she does without telling me ahead of time, and never sent any receipts or invoices prior to that hearing)

I pay standard child support monthly. My exwife does what she feels like with the kids in contravention of the court order, never provides any receipts or invoices for anything, then sends all the invoices from point of separation 2 years ago til now as exhibits in a relocation hearing. Demand receipts and invoices prior to paying for anything

mine never answers outside the court ordered, scheduled video call times (shows that she had tried to cut all my contact with my kids). Meanwhile I was able to take my kids for 2 weeks recently and she called every day.

trusting a computer program to understand verbal commands related to your case? not a good idea.

In Canada shared assets and shared debts get divided equally unless the former partners agree otherwise

If your partner "all of a sudden"s you, then she's been planning for months or years.

I got blindsided by her kicking me out. took me 10 months of mental recovery and getting screwed around by her before I got a court order stating that I was, in fact, my children's guardian.

Mine is trying to do the same thing, while pretending that she cares about the bond my 2 young sons have with me.

I say that because my kids mom never put the effort in. Looking back, it was just a lovebomb until she got pregnant with our first of two kids, then because she knew I had the morals to not abandon her she stopped doing anything resembling being a partner.

If she is bailing whenever things get tough, then she has already checked out. She isn't willing to put in the effort to maintain your relationship, so why should you?

it's everywhere, because social media made a lot of women think that they should be showing themselves off to prove they're worth caring about.

My case was that she gave me attention, which I now realize was love-bombing. After years of separation, I see she is both physically and psychologically repulsive as a person, not just a partner.

Document every thing you do for your child. If she's going to claim you're unfit, you can bring a book full of proof she's lying. Accept that she's going to lie about you and your parenting for the entirety of the rest of her life, to everyone she knows and probably the internet as well.

Mine never communicated what she wanted for the 7 years we were together, other than the demand for children. She decided when we would get married, even though I never asked her. She decided when we would have children. I have 2 boys, 5 and 3 and she kicked me out when the youngest was year and a half. I've been fighting to just retain my parenting rights since Sept 2023.

she wouldn't do the same for you. when one partner says the relationship is over, it is over.

be on the lookout for how much she will lie about you to family, friends, and the internet, and how she will try to take more than what she deserves. Record all your financial statements at date of separation to determine values of items. Don't let her take your shit.

Your child is more important than a partner. If she doesn't like your child, she's gone.

Women will break contracts and court orders when they feel like it anyway, especially if kids and money are involved. Better to get a family lawyer to navigate the family laws of your region.

1.5 years still ongoing because I lack the funds to fight her properly in court. She took both kids and has been lying about my treatment of them prior and after separation so I'm on damage control more than divorce progress

My kids mom went so far as to claim in court that she was the only one who did any parenting while we were together despite me working full time AND coming home, cooking dinner for everyone, playing with the kids after dinner, putting them to bed about half the time, and cleaning up the kids mess, the kitchen, and sometimes the yard afterwards.

Record everything (your conversations, events, interactions with her and your child) so that when she lies about you in the courtroom then you can shove it back in her face.

The driver of the white car interrupted her own passenger to demand why the dashcam owner hit her, before the dashcam owner got a word in. Then the dashcam owner asked why she pulled out. Very easy to hear in the video that you didn't watch.

Weird thing though, that if someone in McLaren and Tercel get into an accident, the Tercel owner gets more mad than the McLaren owner because they probably don't have enough money to fix the Tercel.

Raen465 is correct, the woman is at fault. The dashcam car braked pretty well immediately after the white car started pulling out. No debate.

Running stop signs, ignoring safety laws regarding speed in residential areas, ignoring cross-walkers (peds have the rightaway), trying to use the bicycle lane to outrun her... the biker isn't a saint either. This situation was elevated by the SUV driver, who first cut off a motorcycle because she wasn't using her mirrors to look beforehand, then followed that biker through neighbourhoods to accost him. The biker was trying to get away from the SUV by any means to avoid harm to both of the rider…
