I'd agree a license or at least a class of some sort would benefit everybody and make it available at a specific age not sure what that would be or do it through school.

Yeah the Us is kinda dumb. But bikes are allowed on highways in aus? In the us cyclists aren't allowed on interstates and state highways. I'm not sure on the whole rules but some roads aren't bikeable. And thank you for giving them space that's the best thing tbh. Also does aus have wide shoulders that you can bike on? I know in Utah and Florida there's roads like that.

Then the solution would to expand the road to include bike lanes or sidewalks to get them out of the way. Yeah it is irritating to behind a cyclist that's going slower than the speed limit I've been in that situation but I waited to pass and gave them space. What's your point? They deserve to get hit by a car? Cyclists have as much of a right to be on the road as cars do. Personally I bike on the sidewalk because I'm afraid of hyper aggressive drivers in SUVs and trucks hitting me because they aren't paying attention. Even on the sidewalk I've nearly been hit using the crosswalks.

There's actually an Outside magazine story about cyclists getting hit by drivers and 87%( this percent came from a study in Washington D.C. so obviously not true everywhere but disgusting all the same) don't get charged with a crime at all. So yeah on the surface it's a chick pass and probably played into it but there is huge issue with cyclists getting hit by cars and the drivers not being punished at all.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
