Personally i've never read the book, the first time i ever saw the quote was on the stoicism subreddit in a post titled 'Arguably the best passage of Epictetus'. The links you are after are all there. Can't link the post due to our subreddit rules but happy reading.

You clearly have a lot of wisdom in this area, can i ask what type of exercise you did/are doing in let's say the 40+ period of your life? Most people i know in this demographic have given up on exercise altogether which i don't think is a good path to follow.

I think you missed my point, failure is great so long as you don't quit. Yeah you miss the shots you don't take but if you throw one shot and miss and then never try again then you are an extremely weak willed human being. Furthermore if you are forced to take the shot by someone else and you wasted a whole load of time waiting to throw it, then why are you throwing it in the first place. If you want to take the shot take it now, there's nothing to wait for, that's what this post is about.

“The best revenge is to be unlike him who performed the injury.” - Marcus Aurelius. You have just realized this has been your outcome. The only thing taking from it, i assume, is the fact you have wasted unnecessary time fueling your lust for your perfect idea of justice. I think that's what to take from your experience, to forget past suffering, and move on, learn and live.

Identity - the fact of being who or what a person or thing is Singularity - the state, fact, quality, or condition of being singular As far as i'm concerned you can have a singular identity, correct me if i'm wrong but i agree, this post doesn't seem to make any sense.

Anyone who wants to cement this reality, I really recommend watching fight club. It gave the last push to remove any idea of me being special, without having to get fucked over first. The concept of knowing that if you disappeared tomorrow, no one would give much of a fuck after a couple of years sets you free. Seeing shit as it is really liberates you, you can stop worrying and start living.

I doubt the asshole plan will bring any success, if anything she'll be attracted by a lack of interest. My opinion is you just be super interested and needy in her. Start texting her first thing in the morning and text her as much as possible, always use more words and messages than is needed. Then talk about your feelings all the time, you want to suck the life out of the conversation and make yourself look like a ship wreck. When you're not doing that make really shitty generic conversation, l…

There are extremely few people in this world that deserve a change in your gym schedule. Do not slack on your commitments just because of a relationship, because if it wasn't for those commitments you might have not even had the relationship in the first place. You were far happier when you when back to your pre-LTR life of seeing your friends more often and lifting more often. Women come and pass, but your strength and health will always be there for you. Stellar performance on the break-up, co…

She'll still regret rejecting me This reads to me like "I'm going improve myself for her", honestly man, fuck her, you're friend zoned. Stop bothering even thinking about her, after all i doubt she'll even remember you in a few years. You don't have to prove your worth to her. It's great to see you have direction and you are improving yourself but that line makes it look like, mentally, you haven't really moved on at all. Revenge will motivate you, there's no doubt about that, but there are othe…

Yeah obviously in hindsight it's easy to see, i'm not criticising you, after all you clearly learn your lesson. It's just a reference point more than anything, these kind of incidents are always at the back of my mind when i'm drinking.

One of these trash programs filmed at where I worked before and it was even faker than I first thought. Scripts everywhere, extra lighting and preplanned camera angles. Rest assured you have nothing to benefit from watching these programs, they're not even remotely realistic.

That's a great point. Our society raises us to believe that we will be happy by making others happy. Then when this promised prospect fails who do people blame? Society. The people that didn't make them happy. Hardly ever will they look inwards and find the real pure source of the problem, the man looking in the mirror. All this inevitably ends with is a circle of anguish and hatred, once filled with such emotions the host will go onto negatively effect everyone else. Never will you hear a true …

One thing about trp that has helped my relationship with all females is the knowledge of the hamster. I used to prolong arguments by trying to fight it because the arguments posed were always totally illogical. Now I know that fighting it is useless, you cant argue with feelz. I just walk if the hamster is at lightspeed because aggravating it will only cause it to spin faster and derail this only makes the illusion of you being in the wrong even stronger. If it's an argument in my family i just …

I think Canada's policy on immigrants is more about keeping male/female demographics correct and also avoiding the large side effects of hosting migrants like them burning down their residence, and stupid shit like holding riots because they don't enjoy pasta. Sure women can do that do but if you have a family and children and you're not physically strong enough to fight with riot police you're far less likely to partake in the bullshit hooliganism we're seeing today. Obviously terror can be a s…

That's the whole point, exposing yourself makes you seem vulnerable to attack thus strong to be willing to do so, therefore people's unconscious mind registers you as someone with higher social value.

As you said spinal alignment is important, the hormone results were discovered by Amy Cuddy and were presented in this TED talk. Don't round your shoulders or push out your neck, there's no magic formula just open areas subject to rapid blood loss and you'll find that will give you a good posture.

keep a journal Can't stress how essential this was when i broke a bad habit, the journal creates a platform on which you can see where you messed up, what you did right, how you felt about it and what to do again. Hell even looking back and seeing you didn't mess up brings motivation you wouldn't usually have. Modern day life fills the unconscious mind with so much garbage it's hard to remember things unless you write them down. Also by writing things down and accepting they're there because you…

I think the White Knight mindset is created by media at an early age. Like in the Disney films described by CWM, the White Night sexual strategy is exclusively used by muscular, masculine looking men like Hercules and rewarded with the female beauty and 'forever after'. Furthermore saving woman is also showered with attention in the news, a google search of "man saves woman" reveals far more recent and plentiful news articles than "man saves man" or "woman saves man". Both cases give a bold idyl…

Read this your problem is you have no discipline, get your life back on track and stop making excuses, then then build value and the conversation skills will come after that, you just have nothing to talk about

How dare you bring a young pretty girl with her life ahead of her into the office?! The only thing feminists dislike more than men are girls who are more attractive than they are, they'll do whatever they can to climb the ladder of social value. You gave them an opportunity to do that masked by corporate rule, hope you can lay low for a while and get off the HR radar, good luck.

From someone who used to have a moderate-level anxiety, i totally agree. The people i have talked with about it have definitely viewed me as weaker. People don't give a fuck about your problems and that's just a fact you have to accept. I personally believe mental health issues in men nowadays are heavily suppressed, the overly used phrase "man up" basically summarises this. To add to this last thing you want to do is go about telling everyone you have anxiety, one of my friends accidentally did…

Talking about your true beliefs and passions, specifically ones that are way points rather than milestones, makes conversation most people don't deserve to hear, furthermore it is scientifically proven that talking about your goals makes them less achievable because it fills the mind with complacency. I don't think you have to block that conversation out entirely just be careful who the audience is, females and 9-5 depressed betas probably won't listen anyway. On the otherhand talking about what…

One day a scorpion and a beetle stood next to a stream. They both needed to get across, so the scorpion offered to carry the beetle on it's stinger. The beetle told the scorpion that it was scared that it was going to get stung, but the scorpion insisted that it wouldn't try to, the beetle agreed to climb the stinger. Upon reaching the water the scorpions involuntary reflex was triggered and it stung the beetle, before death the beetle asked why the scorpion did it, the scorpion replied "sorry I…

yeah you'd like it to be Hollywood perfect, but what matters most is what comes afterwards. Once again expecting Romeo but doing nothing to be Juliet unless they have something to gain. This is why the plate exists, the female always has something to gain, so they act like Juliet as much as possible.

Crazy, in the ideal world this would have been a decision which would have blossomed a beautiful romance, shame life isn't some cheesy rom-com. The second he fucked up was when he gave up on his goals and screwed up his priorities, the reason she probably liked him in the first place was because he was going somewhere. It's like a girl telling a guy to stop going to the gym so he can spend more time with her, then throwing it back in his face when he gets fat. Don't give up your goals for anyone…

"Never beg anyone, Never trust no-one, Never expect anything from anybody" - Scarface This quote always sets my priorities straight, i see way too many people at school nowadays orbiting (effectively begging for attention), expecting their teachers to do things for them and investing too much time in fake friends and bitches. Also to add to meditation, breathing exercises are great for calming the mind and releasing adrenalin when you need it, Wim Hof (Guy who climbed everest in his shorts) uses…

It's absolutely rediculous but it makes total sense. You're getting loads of people into your gym who probaly don't train very often but are willing to pay the money, aren't likely to break equipment because they probably use machines and it opens loads of personal training opportunities because a lot of them don't know what they're doing. They're pretty much betas who are actually fixing their problems. Edit:Typo

A lot of crying is bullshit, just like kids who throw tantrums then the second they get what they want they drop all sense of being emotional at all, it pisses me off women can get away with it and they know they can

There's a documentary on in my country called "the secret lives of 5 year olds", the behaviour these kids express is identical to women. One example was when a chocolate birthday cake was put out in the day care and the child carers went out of sight. The kids went from eating small bits so no-one could call them out for being in the wrong. Then after a discussion the general consensus was made that they would all do similar, they ate it. When they were confronted, the answer went along the line…

Motherly love is great, in the correct doses. When i started going to the gym 3 times a week i got told it was bad for me, when i started studying extremely hard i got told i was working too hard and i was going to get too stressed and 'burn out'. I ended up getting above the average students that go to my countries top universities get and a far better physique. None of this would have been possible if i didn't strive to be a better person and more importantly a man .

Not taking things too seriously, maintaining frame, having a strong opinion and moral standpoint which a few others might share if presented well. Having a sense of humour is most important for me, it can be used against your enemy while simultaneously bringing the group in your favour and doesn't have an affect on your credibility when used efficiently.
